Honestly in life youâre gonna be forced to lie because in this day in age you really canât just go into a store or any public place and tell the truth without having someone pull a gun on you or cause a scene society is so messed up right now but if itâs a rude thing the best thing to do is to keep your mouth shut about it sure you can tell people youâre having a bad day but you donât have to explain why

Actually technacilly that would be a lie of omission. There are several ways to lie to someone, not just the basic direct deception.

As a clerk that asks "how was your day" or "how's it going" I truly do mean it and hope you are doing well. If anyone ever has a had day I am always willing to be an ear (as long as I don't have a line waiting).
For me it's the opposite. I am just there to check out your items and work on my workload. Since there's so much to do, I'm not very interested in hearing about a stranger's problems. Not because I'm not empathetic, I'd gladly listen to stranger's talk about their problems outside of work, but simply because I'm just there to work. The "how are you?" is simply showing professionalism.

@Shiny Charm Owner I appreciate the concern but it isn't as bad as you may think, full-time, benefits, bonuses, holiday pay, vacation and paid time off, the pay isn't fantastic but it has advantages over a "normal" job. Until a job is available that pays significantly enough better with all of those comes around (and my house is paid off in Feb) I'll keep it for a bit longer

So....friend shared this post with me, and in the spirit of honesty, there are plenty of ways of being honest without being rude or so severely blunt. There were so many better ways to handle your examples while still being honest.

@@500deadend9 maybe to you, but you can still convey the truth without being rude about, I would have either turned to her and asked her to kindly keep her kid in line and that it was disrespectful to the other guests to allow the behavior to continue. One is perfectly capable of feeling an intense emotional state and not letting it control their actions.
The challenge was to tell the truth, not convey/express your emotions based in that truth, the two are not mutually inclusive.

I know this video is four years old, but I just now saw it. Love this, especially the thing about bratty kids and their parents not disciplining them. God, I wish I had the guts to be that honest. I think the Trader Joe's cashier meant "Did you locate items in the store," but I actually liked how this guy took it and answered, because he's absolutely right. I can definitely see why this challenge was liberating but awkward. Lol. I hope the GF is now his wife after these years.

Definitely not the direction I was expecting this challenge to take. I was assuming the girlfriend, upon finding out he couldn't lie, would spend a week asking every question imaginable dealing with commitment, loyalty and everything related to their relationship.
At the end. At the point where all could've ended in tragedy, the girlfriend was at peak point to "Have a serious talk" but in the end the infographics show man knew this was an avengers level threat, so he said the words of wisdom to his girlfriend at the last night. This man is truly a relationship hero.
