Excellent idea for a video theme! I love the pulp-style characters and they are plenty of very good modern interpretations of them. Dave Stevens's Rocketeer is the best of them of course. Sandman Mystery Theater, an all too well hidden gem, is one of the best series to come out of the 90's. Recently, I've been diving into Dynamite Entertainement's line of revival of pulp characters like Doc Savage, the Shadow, the Spider, Tarzan (in the series Lord of the Jungle) and have been thoroughly enjoying them. I would also highly recommend a little know mini-series published by Marvel in 2011 called Mystery Men, brilliantly written by award winning novelist David Liss where he created his won group of pulp-inspired crime-fighters.
I need to try the Shadow and Doc Savage. I remember a Spider Master of Men series out in prestige format books year ago that I loved. Will have to look at that too.
