Remember Sippline, the 'Aapke Glass ka Mask' company? Despite initial ridicule from Ashneer Grover and online mockery, Sippline thrives in 2024, witnessing significant sales growth. But their success isn't solitary. I've delved into the post-Shark Tank India journeys of numerous Season 1 founders, revealing some shocking stories. Before facing rejection on the show, Rohit had sold 1,200 drinking shields. Despite leaving empty-handed, he defied expectations by expanding Sippline internationally and introducing new products. Interestingly, Sippline is now Rohit's side project; his main venture, Warrier Electronics, specializes in fire suppression systems, establishing a trusted presence since 2010
After airing their Shark Tank India episode, disaster struck for our next Season 1 contender. Alpino, a successful peanut butter brand, faced a warehouse fire on February 16, 2023, resulting in a loss of 1 lakh product units worth 2 crore rupees. This setback led to an 80% drop in sales and stock shortages. However, Alpino showcased remarkable resilience. By May 2023, they relaunched as Alpino 2.0, introducing new products and packaging. Despite the setback, they achieved a sales milestone of 1 crore rupees in just three days by July 2023. Now, they're raising a million-dollar Pre-Series A round to expand globally, aiming to quadruple their sales to 100 crore rupees in the next two and a half years.
Pitching on the inaugural day of Shark Tank India posed uncertainty for Sahil of Keto India, leaving him unsure about the sharks' potential investments. Founded in 2019, Keto India stemmed from Sahil and his sister's caregiving journey after their mother's brain surgery in 2017. Initially bootstrapped, Keto India aimed to democratize personalized nutrition. Despite proposing a lofty valuation of 120 crore rupees in exchange for 1.25% equity, Anupam Mittal balked at the figure, leading to a reduced offer from other sharks. Sahil declined and, post-show, raised 4.5 crore rupees. Rebranded as Livofy, they continue their mission, serving over 15,000 clients combating various health issues.
Despite failing to strike a deal with the sharks, Sahil acknowledged the invaluable exposure gained through Shark Tank India. Conversely, Deciwood's episode faced the cutting room floor, depriving them of this marketing boon. The 'Unseen Pitches' upload on CZcams unveiled their plight, where founders Karan Shukla and Ananya Meena sought 50 lakh rupees for 3.5% equity. Though Namita Thapar's question on Deciwood's distinction from boAt hinted at their potential, the show's omission hindered their visibility. Nonetheless, Deciwood thrived, with revenue skyrocketing 40X post-show. Currently, they're on track to hit 25 crore rupees by FY25, sans Shark Tank publicity. Securing investments, they're poised for exponential growth.
While Deciwood's Karan and Ananya missed Season 1, Rutvij Dasadia of Booz Mobility faced a stark verdict from Anupam Mittal, urging him to shut down, an unforeseen outcome. Rutvij's concept was straightforward: renting electric scooters to gated communities. Despite a 10-month business tenure pre-Shark Tank, his bid for 40 lakh rupees for 15% equity didn't land well. Negotiations led to a 50% sale for 40 lakh rupees, but extended due diligence prolonged the process, prompting Booz Mobility's self-reliance. Despite setbacks, their post-show trajectory is remarkable: a fleet of 200 scooters, expansion to new states, and projected revenue of 1 crore rupees. Discussions for a substantial venture capital raise hint at a prosperous future, culminating in a remarkable turnaround for Booz Mobility.

Basically, Shark Tank in India is pointless if entrepreneurs are looking for funding/mentorship. It excels as a marketing platform, but the "sharks" aren't interested in actually helping the Indian business landscape, just picking up the Shark Tank paycheck.

Make a trend analysis video of the pitches on shark tank. I guess most of them are either snacking, beauty or fashion pitches which are not too innovative. I stopped watching the third season mid way because innovative pitches reduced and the same snacking, beauty, fashion companies came in huge numbers for marketing.

Fantastic Video Caleb. Bringing reality of the TRP and fame drama to people.
Recently, I have watched the pitch of Popcorn and Company, where the founder unintentionally cuts off one of the shark in between and Anupam Mittal gets offensive and says things like there should be some respect for what we have done and the shark chair, etc. The respect always goes mutual. Sharks like Peyush Bansal, Ritesh Agrawal, Amit Jain talk about business and advise sincerely have earned massive respect. About the rest, as observed, they are busy trolling people, if they are not into it like they are giving some life changing advice, sometimes even trying to shake founders off their idea.
Some pitchers who are seen even have better businesses than the ones sitting as sharks.
Anupam Mittal says 70% of his investments have flopped, then where goes your connect and resources even after only 50% deal out off shown in tank goes through after due-diligence.
Namita Thapar talks about the founders' integrity w.r.t due diligence. In some cases, it can be understood but If you are not having hard enough to make decisions within minutes and just offer deals for sake of image on TV and then back out, whose integrity is to be questioned?
Anyways, Fantastic work BWM. keep doing it. The content you bring is best.

Yeah - for me, I would love Sippline on flights. I have noticed that flight attendants always reach into the cup to seperate it from the stack before filling it with a beverage. Sometimes they're wearing gloves, sometimes not, but either way it's unsanitary and they usually don't give you a straw with your drink. Utensils for in-flight meals are always wrapped in plastic, so they could also serve Sippline shields in plastic wrap. This probably wouldn't be economical for economy, but for business/first class it would work. -Caleb

Bhai tera bar first month me bhi bandh ho jata agar tu owner hota, firstly the cost of sippline is way to high in comparison to normal disposable glasses, secondly customer puchta ki yeh sippline kyu lagaya hai to kya kehta glass thik se saaf nai kiye isliye lagaya hai (so customer k dimag me tere bar ki hygience kya image banti), third sippline ko bhi tuje har use k baad wash karna padta jaise glass ko karta hai aur agar sippline thik se saaf nai kiya to problem to wahi ka wahi reh jaega, aur lastly na to sippline re-usable hai, na one size fit all to what's the point of buying it over a disposable glass, one simple question tujse puchu agar glass ganda hai to kya tu sippline lagage drink pina pasand karega ya phir new saaf glass me drink karega. Sippline is the perfect example how dumb people can be even if they are at running an amazing business. Sippline ki re-call value bus Shark-tank aur Ashneer k wajah se hai warna to iss product k bare koi baat bhi nai karta.

The way masks were sold outside the hospitals, exam halls, movie theatre etc. after covid this too can be sold and kept by individuals. This can be carried by people and used in spoon & glass and then people won't hesitate to eat from roadside hawkers and food carts. This is my personal experience- my mom doesn't eat in dhabas or from roadside carts as she feels that the same glass or spoon is used by many but she also can't afford it in a fancy restaurant so such products can be useful for her.
