One of the blessings of living in DC is cheapest flights to South Africa and most places in Africa. New York comes second. You are in a wonderful area to travel to and from. I’m curious about the carrier/route through Ireland and UAE. The cheapest and fastest way in the US spring and fall is always, always, always, Ethiopian Air. Their service is higher quality than USA based Delta and United. That’s reality versus what movies might show. (Saying this for viewers who want to book trips to 🇺🇸 without breaking the bank). I base this on bookings made for the last 10 years. I’ll be in SA next month through Ethiopian. But I really can’t wait until South African Airways returns to Dulles. It was perfect. Straight to Johannesburg via Ghana. Travel tip South Africans: Many in Africa underestimate what they have and their abilities. Ethiopian Air is usually the cheapest and fast flight choice on flights from Johannesburg to the US, March thru June and October, November). I use them quite hesitation!
@@VelileLifestyleDecorTV SAA would have been so perfect. I loved that carrier . So ironic that my last flight on her was Dulles to JNB, a few days before Covid Lockdown. I knew Global Lockdown was coming and I preferred being locked down there versus downtown DC. I enjoyed 6 months in Johannesburg and surrounding rural areas. Mathopestad, a place where my lady has a homestead, is a common retreat from the city.
Its basic. Do NOT believe everything you see in movies to think everything is better in the USA. I live in DC and ride same train regularly to Dulles International Airport. It’s just a basic train that stops at a station outside the airport. After disembarking, passengers walk 10 minutes in a special tunnel to the terminal. It’s not like Gautrain. In fact there is no train with that quality that services an airport in America. On the flip side the mass transit train system network in DC is expansive and reliable and trains run very frequently. Gauteng uses commuter train for similar service. The network is huge but many lines don’t run frequently or at all. 😢
The Metro train system here is more than 50 years old. And a lot of the old railcars are still being used due to a quirk in the way the system is funded. The old series railcar that you saw has probably been in service since the late 80's . They are, however, slowly being replaced with new ones.
