Lament for O'Donnell

  • This is an old Irish tune played by Padraig O'Keeffe, who probably learned it from his grand-mother's singing. Hugh Roe O'Donnell was an Irish chieftain who was defeated at the Battle of Kinsale (1601), marking the beginning of the end for Gaelic Ireland.
    The violin here is a Continental one labelled Luigi Salsedo (1929)
