    tore sons apart earlier- it would kinda work, but repeated trying to open, got weaker ea button press- never saw a motor fail that way...tried battery(7v model airplane thing) and it worked fine- weird... would not work on 12v. 'busted already' so tore motor apart- the larger rectangular areas on sides of connectors are actually clips- plug assembly slides straight out once broken out- already broke- was just looking to see why it failed like it did- then motor comes out... bent tabs/pulled motor nylon end off, one brush has a 1/4" square solid state current limiting device pressed in between contact to housing, and brush contact- thats what killed his... must trip on wattage, as it worked fine on lower voltage- but at 12v it shuts off current almost immediately. never saw a morot with that kind of protection built in. shame on ford for not keeping a manual release...bet theres been many tonneau covers damaged to get gate open. easy fix, but designing stuff like this with no manual backup sucks for owners.

    The part # is almost impossible to find. I bought on today for my 2017 F-350. The correct Ford part# is CC3Z-9943170-E. $76 at the dealer but you can find it online for a little over $50.

      Thanks. I'm sure others will appreciate the help too! I think they roll the part numbers a lot too. Thanks for watching.

    Same problem. Totally agree. I’m surprised you’ve only got 5 views. Do you have the part number handy?

      The part number on the box for the new one that is presently in the truck is: GC3Z 9943170 D. Thanks for watching, it's really a repository of various videos while I learn the whole The CZcams thing.

    I wished you would have showed how to remove it. I am replacing a tail get emblem, and between this, and the step ladder, I cant get to the emblem. I dont want to break those yellow clips while removing the assembly.

      Sorry, the dealer removed and replaced it. I was able to keep it because it wasn't under warranty. I would think there would be another CZcams out there on removing the emblem. Good luck

    Wouldn't the silicone get caught and trapped in the white gear?

    • @hecantcraft4936
      @hecantcraft4936  Před 2 lety +2

      I was only putting the silicone on the exterior of the mechanism housing, not inside. I would think it would solidify before getting into the gears. There is "windshield" silicone that is much much less viscous, almost like water, that, yes, if it penetrated the housing, it could gum up the white gears. A good light weight grease, I would imagine, wouldn't effect the gear movement, nor allow water ingress as easy.

    What does HCC mean, in the title?

      Yeah, that is confusing, it's just the acronym for He Can't Craft (HCC), the name of the channel. Thanks for watching.

    I have a 2019 Ford Raptor and I think my actual is toast as well. Sad when it has about 53k miles and you pay $74500 for a halo vehicle from Ford. I didn't buy the extended warranty and I'm sure they won't be covering this.

      The part is pretty cheap, and seems easy to replace(I'm sure there is a video somewhere). Where the dealer sticks it to you is the "diagnosis" getting to what is the likely issue. The RnR is another hundred, then the part, so, yeah, about 500.00 (here in the PNW). I agree, halo makes it smart even more. Platinum not cheap either, and I'm on my third one actuator. Good luck!

      @@whiskeyedition what is a Halo vehicle?

    • @hecantcraft4936
      @hecantcraft4936  Před 2 lety +1

      @@behelpful1435 It is the manufacturers "premium, limited and unicorn" vehicle. I would say most manufactures use "cheap" parts where they can get away with it, even in their limited offerings, thus the issue with this mechanism. If they had a better one for the Raptor, like the skid plate under the transmission that I swapped to my Platinum, I would have swapped a better latch mechanism in too. But, they don't... Thanks for watching (and Whiskey Edition is my other channel...).

      @@hecantcraft4936 so Halo edition can be a term used towards any manufacturers and their bells and whistles version of a model?
