Milwaukee Packout System meets BuiltRight Industries Bed Racks! Will it work out for them?
Forgoing the typical Ford bed storage systems, I have opted to install the BuiltRight Bed Racks and Packout adapters, modified to accept the Milwaukee Packout crate and cabinet. With a few other bits having to be kludged in to make it all work.
Sorry, the audio is just not making it in this video. Ugh.

      Mine being a 2018, and not the power boost, I'm not sure. You could see if the 2024 Raptor plate install diagram looked similar to the 2024 power boost "under cover" diagram as far as mounting points. Also, people have mentioned other manufacturers in the comments, and they might have a solution for the newer model. Thanks for watching!

    Great video. Did you need to remove the u-shaped bar ( FL3Z-16001A08-C) connected to the cross member that connected to the diaper? trying to get all these plates for my F-150.

    • @hecantcraft4936
      @hecantcraft4936 Před 8 měsíci

      I had to look through my pile of take-offs... (yeah, I'm a pack rat, and it was done before I was making stupid videos). It was removed when I swapped the front engine "diaper" for the similar metal FX4 plate. I took a photo but can't figure out how to include it here. The FX4 plate replaces the diaper and that cover. But, if you don't do the engine plate, it would remain as the forward mounting point for this transmission shield. You can see that in the video where the engine plate is taking the place of that crossmember bracket (it appears that three parts are deleted with the FX4 engine plate, the cross member bracket, diaper and another, smaller skid plate). Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!

    Hi. Got a question for you. You mean that this cover fits the non-raptor F-150? Like, my 2023 STX 4x4 eco boost 2.7L? And what’s that cover for oil change access all about? Can you get to the cats through there? Why not left open? Oh yes, and the 13mm bolts don’t look secure. Any ideas? Like drilling a small hole through the head and safety wire them to the chassis. Or round them off with the grinder? If it ever needs to be removed they could be drilled out. Let me know please.

    • @hecantcraft4936
      @hecantcraft4936 Před 9 měsíci

      I installed the same 2018 BODY style/year skid plates from a Raptor of the same body/year (I think they are still the same through 2023, but I would check to make sure). I do think that super expensive cover for MY motor isn't for anything, but it might be on the Raptor (I haven't been completely under a Raptor to check). Our oil filters are farther forward (under the front skid plate somewhere). As the motors between my Platinum and the Raptor were both 3.5, I took the risk that everything would line up and be the same. I believe some in the comments (ed9095, below, same engine as yours) have had success with the other engine models and fitment. I would verify for sure! If you fast forward to about 5:14, you can see the front and rear of the catalytic converter is now covered with the steel plate. Will it stop a thief completely? Maybe not, but, hopefully discourage them. The paper cover absolutely would not! Also, with the transmission having a plastic pan, and that cooler being pretty low, a nice steel plate is also protecting those items (why they just don't put them on all of them... I don't know $$$). As far as securing the bolts... I believe the FACTORY nut-plates are kind of a "lock" nut, in that the nut is not perfectly round, but oval'd a bit, so it holds them all in place really well. And, since there are several, redundant. That is if you use the factory hardware. Use The Home Depot hardware at your own risk... Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

      @@hecantcraft4936 Thanks for feedback. I’m going to give it a shot because these aftermarket shields are high priced and still, if a thief is really equipped and determined it won’t save the cats. It’s the best deterrent though. I think I’ll put those bolts with a bonding agent like Liquid Metal…. I’m pondering wrapping stainless reel cables underneath the plate. Thanks a lot. Nice truck you have there 😀

    tore sons apart earlier- it would kinda work, but repeated trying to open, got weaker ea button press- never saw a motor fail that way...tried battery(7v model airplane thing) and it worked fine- weird... would not work on 12v. 'busted already' so tore motor apart- the larger rectangular areas on sides of connectors are actually clips- plug assembly slides straight out once broken out- already broke- was just looking to see why it failed like it did- then motor comes out... bent tabs/pulled motor nylon end off, one brush has a 1/4" square solid state current limiting device pressed in between contact to housing, and brush contact- thats what killed his... must trip on wattage, as it worked fine on lower voltage- but at 12v it shuts off current almost immediately. never saw a morot with that kind of protection built in. shame on ford for not keeping a manual release...bet theres been many tonneau covers damaged to get gate open. easy fix, but designing stuff like this with no manual backup sucks for owners.

      I just did it to my 2019 F150 XLT 2.7l FX4, although I only installed the main skid plate. You'll need to uninstall the skid plate every time when changing the oil, the oil plug in the 2.7l is right in the center line of the plate, it would be a mess opening it through the plate's access door. I thought that whoever would change the oil still has to remove the felt protector thus removing the skid plate shouldn't be that much work. In fact, probably it won't be necessary to remove the plate entirely, if you lose the back bolts and remove the fronts ones, the skid plate should swing open with enough room to access the oil plug. I reused the bolts/nuts used for the felt protector and bought 2 new sets of the big bolts/nuts (The part number for the big bolts/nuts are W500633*S439 / W717461*S439. Hope it helps. Wouldn't the silicone get caught and trapped in the white gear?

    • @hecantcraft4936
      @hecantcraft4936 Před 2 lety

      I was only putting the silicone on the exterior of the mechanism housing, not inside. I would think it would solidify before getting into the gears. There is "windshield" silicone that is much much less viscous, almost like water, that, yes, if it penetrated the housing, it could gum up the white gears. A good light weight grease, I would imagine, wouldn't effect the gear movement, nor allow water ingress as easy.

    Shouldnt be on full droop like that. Try putting your jack under the control arm so its simulating ride height.

    How many nuts/bolts come in the package? Checking out Taska Parts now and it lists it at 1 but I’m not sure if that’s 1 bolt or 1 package of bolts.

      @@whiskeyedition my paper one is long gone. The dealer “misplaced it” when they changed the starter under warranty. I’m debating going this route or with RCI, but they have a 10 week lead time right now. Thanks for replying and for the information.

    I have a 2019 Ford Raptor and I think my actual is toast as well. Sad when it has about 53k miles and you pay $74500 for a halo vehicle from Ford. I didn't buy the extended warranty and I'm sure they won't be covering this.

      The part is pretty cheap, and seems easy to replace(I'm sure there is a video somewhere). Where the dealer sticks it to you is the "diagnosis" getting to what is the likely issue. The RnR is another hundred, then the part, so, yeah, about 500.00 (here in the PNW). I agree, halo makes it smart even more. Platinum not cheap either, and I'm on my third one actuator. Good luck!

      @hecantcraft4936 Před 2 lety

      @@behelpful1435 It is the manufacturers "premium, limited and unicorn" vehicle. I would say most manufactures use "cheap" parts where they can get away with it, even in their limited offerings, thus the issue with this mechanism. If they had a better one for the Raptor, like the skid plate under the transmission that I swapped to my Platinum, I would have swapped a better latch mechanism in too. But, they don't... Thanks for watching (and Whiskey Edition is my other channel...).
