I love that you are doing this! I love your rig - #benefitsofbeingaproathlete lol. One thing I noticed when I do certain obstacles is that I need to focus on which muscle group(s) I need to engage in order to complete the obstacle. For example ...
I discovered that one should engage their glutes, hamstrings, and back. Before I knew that I was trying to use my back and arms. That severely limited the amount of weight I can lift AND could have caused major injury.
Another discovery I made concerns the Monkey Bars and Rig. I realized that I needed to make sure I am engaging my lats, biceps, and core. As soon as I let myself hang (actually swing) without engaging those muscle groups I find that my grip gives out faster and ... well ... 30 burpees later I realize my mistake.
Now, I know that there are many people who don't know how to engage certain muscle groups - I was one of them just a few years ago.
My point in making this loooong - lol - is that, in addition to these type of videos, I would love to see videos that talk about the muscle group(s) that should be enabled when doing certain obstacles. Knowing that enabled me to go from not being able to flip the Spartan tire in one race and flipping without breaking a sweat (well, maybe just a little - lol)
    My Two Cents

Anything other than sideways seems like not worth the risk. Sometimes you don't know if the bars are slippery until you get up there.

Is there any specific situation where sideways will not work?

Do you have any reccomendation for women? I have found the bars way too thick for my small hand..Do you think sideways will work too for smaller hands? Thank you👍 awesome tutorial!

That's your best option. All the other ways require more grip strength.

Thanks, excellent options. How about one on rings?

For some reason I can only do the bent arm variations, as the straight arm version causes my body to rotate away from the hanging arm and then irritate my shoulders

Love The Vid!! Thank You. Could you either do another video or DM me some pix of your Monkey Bar setup. I live in a house with a small side yard and it looks like what you have would be perfect for my place. I can watch your vid several time and piece together how the upper portion of the your rig was assembled. My only question is how the base looks - it is free standing? Does it go into the ground? Etc. Hope to see you on the course sometime this year (post-COVID) :)

Nice video and monkey bar set up. Please make a rope climbing and running technique video. How and where do you get a monkey bar set up like that? Thanks Veejay

I’ll definitely put some videos out for that. I designed and built this rig myself. I built it all out of 1 1/2in. Speed rail. Aluminum bars with steel legs sunk in concrete. Got all the materials from Industrial Metal Supply. I’ve been talking with them about putting a package together for building a rig so stay tuned.
