@@44r0n-9 They were speciticalls and they were amazing specticalls. But yes the character motivation, general logic and story of these episodes as well as most of season 6 were really bad.
      Examples:
Sansa lets Rickon die for NO reason. She knew the vale army was coming. With that leverage the conversation with Ramsay would have been way different.
Ramsay shoots at the Giant instead of the logical choice, Jon, because the Show wanted something dramatic but did not dare what the books dictated in earlier seasons.
Dany gives the Iron Islands independence for no reason. She gets a hundret ships, but she has thousands and Yara tells her that Euron is a macho strongman ass and wants to marry her, but thats exactely Danys type (Drogo, Dario).
Jon is made King in the north. May make sense to us. But they live under fudalism and they just made a bastard king. Imagine in the next election one guy sais "I don't care if they are dogs. They should also get a vote!" That is how absurd that is in universe.
Cerseis plan is horrible on so many levels. Even though the show forgot that somewhere in season 5, there are people who are not main characters with motivations and plans. If the mom of the italien prime minister blew up the vatican and decide to be the new ruler. A lot of those people would pop up and have something to say. There would be riots and so on. Also why did she lead Lancel into the dungen where he could have prevented the explosion, had he been faster?
By the sept blowing up the show gets around revealing margerys plan, because there was none, because they can't write intrigue, so they kill of characters before intrigue can develop. If they don't we get Littlefinger in Season 7.... The dumbest thing until pretty much all of season 8.
I could go on. Season 6-8 have no character motivation/consistency, no logic, no intrigue, no tension, nothing of what made Game of Thrones great. They had great spectacle and I still enjoyed season 6 for that and even had fun with season 7, but D&D are NOT good writers.

@@44r0n-9 I personally think its cos they had more notes from GGRM to work with on season 6. The further away they got from the books the less notes they had to go on, which explains the accelerated rate in which the story was told.

@@44r0n-9 Amazing scenes in those episodes, but overall S6 was the worst season so far, only beated by S7 and S8. They had those great scenographies in mind, but not really a sense of how to build nuanced characters and a complex story without resorting to those old and boring clichés that Martin had tried to subvert with GoT books.

    • @lorenzoamato953

I would say that the lack of a proper ending and proper closure for the characters of GoT, i.e.: the botched S8, spoils all the isolated good scenes and moments of S6. The problem of the episodes you point out, in fact, is that they do not end anything, and do not give closure to anything, but are only episodes in a grand overarching story that does not make sense in the end.
Endgame, OTOH, gives closure for the overarching story and a proper send-off to its most beloved characters, and for this reason the obvious plot-holes of the movie are ignored.
The adagio "all is well that ends well" works also in reverse: if it ends bad, then it spoils all good.

Look more to me like Kennedy is doing her job spot on. Let's recap:
Josh Trank - reports of dickish behavior on the set of Fant4stic, which bombed.
Colin Trevorrow - the colossal failure of The Book of Henry combined with creative differences (the timeline indicates that he couldn't work around Carrie Fisher's death).
Phil Lord and Chris Miller - repeatedly going off-script and refusal to compromise. Hijacking the movie in your own words.
David Benioff and DB Weiss - allegedly quit due to scheduling conflicts, although it could easily be that Kennedy and company just saw the final season of Game of Thrones.
It looks to me like Kennedy it weeding out the bad apples. Also, the Garreth Edwards thing is blown way out of proportion. He was credited as the director, so per the rules of the Directors Guild of America, he directed ninety percent of the movie. So stop it with that.
I'd rather a producer fire the directors who aren't getting the job done than just roll whatever bullshit said directors are cooking up. If WB had done this we might have a DCEU that doesn't have four terrible movies out seven.

To prove their worth they have to do something that of their own or something that not already very popular. The GOT books were huge from the get go. Star Wars is one of the most popular franchise, It print money regardless. The duo is doing something different now so let see how their next project turn out. To be honest I’m kind a happy about this. I know there are fans that were trying to get a Game of Thrones style Star Wars project off the ground, but what everybody is failing to realize is George Lucas when he made the original trilogy and the prequel‘s he wanted to keep this a family friendly project. So my question is how do we know that it was a contract thing? How do we know that there are three Scripps were not incredibly dark and violent? And also if it is a contract thing we don’t know what they were getting paid to make the Star Wars movies. I think before you go off on Kathleen Kennedy you need to answer those questions. Netflix is a beast of a bargain maker because they were able to do projects for less than full price on some accounts, so it is entirely possible that Netflix said oh well guess what we’re going to double your pay for what you’re getting on the Star Wars movies so then they said well then screw you Star Wars. But I think there is way too little information at this point to fire our guns at the head woman because it could just be a matter of wheeling and dealing under the table done by them.

Kathleen Kennedy seems like a producer that has lost her touch with this franchise. From the beginning, she has had no plan for the continuation of the Star Wars lore and has basically been flying by the seat of her pants since they got the property. It’s unforgivable that she never even took the time to draw up a detailed outline for the plots of episodes 7-9. On top of that, she has proven to be a massive hype beast for directors. She simply chooses the person who is currently hot, not who she thinks can truly do the job well. Benioff and Weiss are no longer hot items because of the GoT season 8 backlash, therefore they are now gone. It’s that simple. The same thing happened to Josh Trank, and Lord and Miller, and Colin Trevorrow. If Rian Johnson had made a movie that bombed after Looper, I guarantee you the same thing would have happened to him.

D&D are terrifically respected and accomplished, but it's television and it's a single series. I think there must have been some reticence on Kennedy's part from the beginning that they weren't "filmmakers." You can hope for someone like JJ Abrams to come out of television, and certainly Benioff And Weiss are good bets in that regard, but when you came up in the industry with directors and writers who made their names through movies and not television, there is still going to be uncertainty in the relationship. It might be smart - when it comes to the deciding moment - to question whether it's a good idea to hand over a massive billion dollar commitment to a pair who hasn't directed a movie and have been on one show AND who have plenty of duds when it comes to the movies they (well, one of them) have actually written. Even the Wachowskis had to make BOUND before anyone would consider letting them make The Matrix.

In trying to make sense of what is happening with this pattern one thought comes to mind, maybe it's because it's Star Wars that she is perhaps being more cautious and removing people that otherwise would have finished the film, had it been any other franchise. Either that or she has really been cursed with this tenure at Lucasfilm. I can't believe she would have come this far without being competent at interviewing directors, producers, and writers. She has shown good judgement on other decisions recently. Favreau actually says it was her idea to have him work with Filoni on `The Mandalorean'. Outside of the films the rest of the franchise has been doing awesome. I have no idea what, if anything, she has had to do with any of that but it's just perplexing that she have these issues happening only with the Star Wars films. Also the replacements or additions she brought in were solid choices, IMHO, so at least she didn't screw that up. In the case of B&W it sounds like they just tried to get themselves fired so they could be available to Netflix. It's really their only way out of the contract with Lucasfilm.

It just happened ... at least if there was an episode of her trying to rule but the people went against her or something like that, but seems like the creators were in a rush to do other things they just ended it. It was lazy writing.

There could have been a buyout clause in the Lucasfilm contract they had that Netflix agreed to pay when they signed them to their deal. Not saying that you aren’t right, but that there could definitely be a contractual reason that explains how they’d be able to choose the 100 million dollar Netflix deal over Disney/Lucasfilm. If Netflix was willing to pay that much, they may have also been willing to pay a buyout.

But what good would that have done, force a unwilling actor to act. The result would not be the best. This is also probably the case with B&W, why force them to a contract they clearly doesnt want to do. Imagen how uncreative you would be, if you where forced to be creative.
