For fortnight, I saw a theory connecting how midnights was about 13 sleepless nights through her life and fortnight is the 14th night
but 13 sleepless nights throughout her life aren't consecutive :) (those all took place in different years)

@@AllySheehan ah yes, my bad. It was clear that some of those nights reflected on older events. Another theory I heard is that it was the period between the day everyone unfollowed Joe and the album release date, almost as though she's letting us in on what could have possibly happened.

I guess this is kind of a stretch, but I was thinking about how Taylor and Joe were writing all these sad songs together like exile, champagne problems etc. (Taylor also once mentioned how they both love a sad song) and so maybe were the tortured poets department themselves? Like two sad poets together who only brought each other down?

@@dixiech1ck not 100% sure, I saw the clip of her wiping tears when the lights went down after “Lover” but I never saw a date mentioned in the comments of that clip I saw, but I’m guessing it was either one of those shows or one of the ones before or right after.
Yes! I just wrote on someone else’s comment about “Florida!!!” that I was there on the 13th and there was a heaviness. It seemed she was just going through the motions. I certainly think that being the first show after news broke would be incredibly difficult to do. But she got through it and it was still a good show.
My take on the cruel summer lyric is: shiny toy is a metaphor for something new and not serious. Her boy was new and she wanted to play (date). But the "casual" fun summer comes with a painful price, either hurt feelings or getting attached but shes willing to pay the price to have him. :)

the first thing i did when this tracklist came out was google clara bow. i came across this quote from clara herself, and i feel like it speaks very much to taylor, especially performing on the eras tour while heartbroken : "all the time the flapper is laughing and dancing, there's a feeling of tragedy underneath, she's unhappy and disillusioned, and that's what people sense."
it's giving the mirrorball taylor had to be to keep performing and shining for us while going through so much emotionally. she could do it with a broken heart, but we the fans, knew she wasn't happy. like the early performances of lover, i don't wanna live forever and most of all call it what you want (angry version). we saw it then, but a few minutes later she'd be holding up her fearless heart hands or dancing on stage to bejeweled. i haven't seen anyone talk about this quote yet, but it's all i've been able to think about honestly.

This is what I first thought of with Florida; Florida is known for being the stereotypical place where the average person goes to retire. Since Taylor loves romanticizing mundane normal lives, I thought she would be talking about the possibility of retirement here. As a Clara Bow stan (framed picture of her in my bedroom wall level), I highly recommend starting with It (1927) to get to know her onscreen persona. It's sweet, light, and super charming. If you eventually become more interested, Wings (1927) and The Wild Party (1929) are other great movies. Wings (1927) is less about her, but it was the fist film to win the Best Picture Oscar and it's an amazing silent overall. The Wild Party (1929) is slightly more of a deep cut, but it was her first talkie, it's directed by a pioneer female director, and she plays a quintessentially Clara Bow part; it's one of my personal favorites for sure. If you want to keep going, Mantrap (1926) is enchanting, I also love her in it.

I really really think she's teasing themes of this album with the surprise songs thus far - I did some analysis of the Tokyo N1 through 4 songs and they progress from being left behind/alone and longing to not be alone to learning that she deserved better and leaving. I think TTPD will have a similarly theme of learning to be happy despite the absence of a partner (or even love from the media!) and I think she'll continue the storyline in Australia! this is all so intense she's a mastermind

I think it's also an interesting choice for white to be the color for this album, not only for the reasons you pointed out, but also because when you put any color on top of white it appears brighter... except for black. Also, when you think of rep and the newsprint imagery - a news paper is "white" with black print which goes back to the clean slate idea and filling up the page. I'm so excited for TTPD! Exactly. To me, the music is so much bigger than the inspiration and it often bugs me when people try to draw 1:1 parallels, as if the poetry doesn't take those feelings and moments and twists them around to get to the art. It's such a simplistic way to look at what inspiration is and it almost takes away from the craft of writing to me. Songs can be about real feelings without being a direct translation of something that happened.

Here are some crazy unhinged theories of mine:
My prediction for Track 16: 0:13
Track 16 is titled „Clara Bow“ who was a silent film actress and first ever „IT-Girl“. She faced public intrusion into her personal & romantic life, which lead to a breakdown. She retired after marriage. This gives me major TLGAD vibes! Taylor draws subtle comparisons between herself and Rebekah Harkness in TLADG and talks about Rebekahs life. I feel like she‘s gonna do something similiar or maybe even the same with Clara Bow. Also similar to Taylor, Rebekah Harkness and Clara Bow were often a target of harsh criticism from the tabloids, and people alike. I genuienly believe Clara Bow is yet another Muse of Taylors. The song might be a sequel to „The Lucky One“ since Clara Bow retired and Taylor sings that the person in The Lucky One „And they still tell the legend of how you disappeared, How you took the money and your dignity and got the hell out“. April 19th War-Theory:
When Taylor held her speech at the Grammys this year I was wondering instantly why she chose April 19th as a release date for her new album and I came up with an insane theory why that is. At this point she has me delulu so take everything I say with a grain of salt pls. So on April 19th (1775) the American Revolutionary War began, declearing independence from Britain. Taylor really said „You're not my homeland anymore“ (exile) „I can reclaim the land“ (bejeweled) „Our country, guess it was a lawless land“ (dbatc) „So yeah it‘s a war“ (ivy) and „There's no morning glory, it was war, it wasn't fair“ (tgw) SHE IS INSANE FOR THIS!!! MOTHER IS DECLEARING HER INDEPENCE FROM A LONDON BOY 😭 Not to mention “all’s fair in love and poetry” is an obvious replacement for the word war!!!! Britannica.com says „American Revolution begun Launched this day in 1775 with the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the American Revolution was an effort by 13 British colonies in North America (with help from France, Spain, and the Netherlands) to win their independence.“ 13 Birtish colonies? We all know that Taylor is an educated smart ass woman, loving the number 13. To me it just makes sense. Other than that, April 19th is also national „Poetry and creative Mind Day“. Guess who‘s a poet, a creative mind and the Shakespeare of our generation? Yes, Ms Dr Taylor Allison Swift!! I AM SHAKING

For Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? I put down Cowboy Like Me as a reference, for the part where she talks about "Telling all the rich folks anything they wanna hear, like it could be love, I could be the way forward only if they pay for it." I could be sooooo way off though, this one was a hard one to theorize about because it could go either way. She could show herself as a mastermind in an industry where she's had to outsmart "the man", or she could be writing from the perspective of a humbled, tortured artist, who's just too soft for all of it.

When I saw “Who is afraid of little Old me,” I immediately thought about Taylor saying it to Joe in the aftermath of their breakup, him being scared that she will write an album and expose what really went down. And it being sarcastic since he seemed to think he was above the other guys she dated and wrote about and how it seems that he belittled her at times, which would make the title fit.

Songs like Better Man and happiness, kind of ruminating on what she lost, what worked in the relationship and what didn't, what she wished she could've changed, those are the same vibes that I'm getting here, and those are some of my favorite vibes of all time.

I saw people saying that there was 17 shows before the album released, which perfectly lines up with the track count, and has a few ppl thinking that she originally planned to announce TTPD on the first night of Tokyo, and then reveal 1 new track each night afterward. But if it was leaked back in January, maybe that changed up the entire plan, and I am mourning
