  • This is a wee video of a gravel ride where we bikepacked down the Great Glen Way in May 2022. Our route was from Inveress to Fort Augustus via the North Shore of Loch Ness, before camping overnight then returning to Inverness via the South shore.

    Another great video, and a really nice tribute to John. I had the pleasure of riding with him on a couple of CTC rides, pre-Covid. He was a real inspiration. Still fit and fast as he approached 80 years young. Incredible.

      Hi MA. Sorry but no, a road bike would be no good, you would need at least a gravel bike or a mountain bike.

    Great video. I am due to do this cycle with my 8 year old lad on the 3rd Sept for charity. We will be finishing up in Fort William. Planning on doing it over two days also. May I ask how long it took your group to get from Inverness to Fort Augustus?

    Any recommendations on bike set up if doing 360 in a day. HT MTB or Gravel and tyre type/size.

    • @specializeddoug
      @specializeddoug  Před 2 lety +1

      Day One my gravel bike was fine but I felt under biked on it on the Southern shore on day two Kevin. I would definitely go MTB. My 650B wheels with 50mm tyres coped fine with everything but a MTB would be more comfortable. Good luck doing it in a day, that would be a real challenge.
