    Dill is pretty dramatic
    Chuckie sounds like his childhood
Phil also does sound like his childhood. Also love his hairpiece
Lil has her hair down instead of up
Kimi looks like she came from Hawaii. But my favorite hairpiece out of them is Kimis and Phil’s
Angelica sounds like a teen obviously
    Susie has the most it

I wanted to go on adventures with those friends that i dream of. My childhood always changes but 50 percent of this show and Rugrats will never change in my heart. This show is just simply underrated, and i wish more people enjoyed and still watch this masterpiece of excitement that i experienced.

@MrTsquared88: The show was great, no doubt, but how long do you think they could've kept it up? The series was introduced in 1991, following a 1990 pilot, and already had lost a chunk of its original writers (Craig Bartlett went on to do Hey Arnold! and Paul Germain went on to do Disney's Recess) by the time the first hiatus for the series took place.
Remember, the series did take a hiatus in between the Paul Germain seasons and the post-Dil and Kimi seasons. It was during that hiatus that the show continued to show the same level of popularity as it had during the original seasons, which brought forth the movie trilogy.
From 1998 on, Dil became a fixture in the show, regardless of how much he was a poop joke factory that hampered Tommy's effectiveness as leader, which--along with Chuckie's apparent need for motherly influence--prompted Kimi to basically be a female equivalent to Tommy for the last four seasons (2000-2004).
Seriously, I am not trying to knock on Dil or Kimi (at least with Dil, the dislike for him is summed up thusly: The synopsis for Rugrats is that it's about "talking babies who go on misadventures" and Dil can do neither [he cannot talk outside of typical baby gibberish, nor can he even move without help from the others]), but once they showed up, the show did have a dip in quality.
In truth, even bringing in almost-perfect Susie as a foil for Angelica in between the first and second seasons was in itself a drop in quality, because it basically brings in a "Lila" type of character to counter Angelica being "Helga"-like (which is fitting, since Craig Bartlett assisted Paul Germain in Angelica's creation, which resulted in her having similarities to the Pataki girl). It was effectively saying that, because the show had to maintain some semblance of status quo, Angelica could never learn from her mistakes, nor stay nice for too long, simply due to her role as the primary antagonist. Yet, what happened as the series progressed? Angelica actually softened and became more bearable to be around ("New Kid in Town" actually has her standing up for the babies against a bully named Josh who's even worse than she is, "Moving Away" has her directly state that she does like the babies deep down, and the movies themselves reaffirm that she does care for the babies as much as she torments them), which in turn, regressed Susie to background status.
Anyway, to save the show from the axe after introducing two more characters (Angelica's assistant Harold [her "Jonathan" of sorts made his appearance in the second-to-last season of the original series] and her school rival/rich bitch Savannah Shane [who was made using the Samantha character template from the spin-off's pilot]), execs ran with the idea from the "All Grow'd Up" pilot (which was the highest-rated Rugrats episode ever, thereby making the higher-ups think of it as a proof-of-concept to make the spin-off) and aged up the Rugrats ten years, thus turning them from adventurous toddlers to drama-laden tweens.
Let's face it, as much as we didn't want them to, the Rugrats had to grow up at some point and AGU was the result of it. The characters' overall personalities didn't change all too much and the changes that did happen fit the characters perfectly--Tommy now had a full head of hair and continued his newfound passion for movie-making (Angelica had given him his first camera in the "Babies in Toyland" Christmas special aired during the last Rugrats seasons), Lil kept trying to find a common ground between her old self as Phil's equally gross twin and her new self as a far more girly girl, Phil pretty much stayed the same since he was the one who didn't mature as fast as the others, Dil was finally given a personality that made him the alien-loving oddball of the group (due to the twins dropping him on his head when they were Rugrats), Kimi was always changing her look but tried to merge her Japanese ancestry with her American-led lifestyle, Susie was trying to break free of her squeaky clean image yet still remained "the good girl" of the franchise, Angelica became nicer (Chuckie was shown hanging around her, Susie, and Harold more) but still kept her spoiled attitude, Harold kept his blissful ignorance regarding Angelica's more selfish motivations but actually spoke up a few times when even he felt something had gone too far, and Chuckie had admonished most of his old fears but replaced them with any geek's typical fear of girls (he still was able to communicate with Kimi, Lil, Susie, and even Angelica on a semi-regular basis when he wasn't chilling with Tommy and Phil or being a fellow dork alongside Harold)--but yet, the show didn't do as well as hoped and only lasted five seasons (2003-2006) in comparison to the original Rugrats' decades of airtime (1991-2004).

***** Blame the execs on seeing the ratings for "All Growed Up" as proof positive for making a new series based on the tween 'Rats. Hey Arnold was actually meant to get the same treatment, per the Jungle Movie sequel to the save-the-neighborhood film (the Jungle Movie was actually meant to be the theatrical film, with the save-the-neighborhood movie meant to be a TV special), leading into "The Pataki's" series focusing on a teenage Helga's life without Arnold (they would unite at the end of the series and finally become official as a couple, because after the Jungle Movie - in which he finds his parents and finally giving Helga a positive answer to her own previous confession from the earlier movie by kissing her back - Arnold was to stay in San Lorenzo in order to get re-acquainted with his birth parents, Miles and Stella).

Actually Rugrats stopped production in 1994 after Nickelodeon split from MTV Networks. Viacom(who purchased Nick in 1995) ordered production to resume in 1996. But when they tried to get some of the original writers, Paul Germain and Sharon Duffy refused due to the inane plot devices, terrible new characters and BAD, horrible juvenile writing Viacom's own new team of writers were pitching. And the show's original head writer Andy Houts was battling leukemia. After he lost his battle in 1997, Germaine and Duffy walked away from the show. And were replaced.
Cree Summer actually pitched the original idea for All Grown Up in 1999. Originally called "Rugrats: The Tween Years" to Network execs who TRIED to convince Viacom to develop a test episode. But Viacom wanted to keep doing what they had been doing the past year and a half: Continuing milking the Rugrats for all they were worth using their name to make money.
After Rugrats in Paris underpeformed at the box office, Viacom finally relented and let the newly named "All Growed Up" Special get produced. When the 3rd Rugrats filmed bombed, Nickelodeon finally had ENOUGH of Rugrats and officially stopped production of the series in favor of All Grown Up.
All Grown Up actually did VERY well and ran for 4 years. The reason why it didn't have much success as Rugrats is because it wasn't milked like Rugrats was and was underpromoted and under marketed.
      Production stopped in 2007.

+TherealRNO While I can see that this must've taken a long time to write, I disagree with you on the point that Tommy has a passion for film. It actually seemed more like an obsession.

I get why people weren’t happy with the show. It did kind of take away from the purpose of rugrats which was to show the world through a baby’s point of view, but I still love the show! I think it’s great. I think we can all agree on one thing though, the theme song slaps!

The one thing that triggers me tho, is how they act and are treated like they’re 16-18 when in reality they’re 11-13
