This was an appropriate song for Allman, who endured years of alcohol and drug problems and five failed marriages. In the song, he explains that with him, you have to take the good with the bad. He's a classic dangerous rebel type, complete with tattoos and a dark side. He's letting the girl know that she'll love him anyway, even as he drives her crazy
You can never go wrong with the Allman Brothers! R.I.P. Gregg and Duane. 💔💔
Gregg recorded his final album when he was dying of pancreatic cancer. He said he still had more to say to his fans. Great one. He does a cover of Jackson Browne:s. Song For Adam with is otherworldly good. He broke down partway through the vocal tracking and couldn't continue- the song was reminding him of his brother Duane, and that hed soon be seeing him. He was never able to return to the studio. They left it like that, and published it.
Kills me every time, but i love it!
The album is called Southern Blood.
Greg Allman had one heck of a solo career, and I have to say this is my favorite song.
It brings to mind one of my favorite stories my dad has told me. He worked at a 24 hour ihop in the mid to late seventies, and one night/very early morning a tour bus pulled up out front and it was the Allman Brothers. They were just making a stop to get some food while they were on tour. The waitress went up to the table and said to Greg Allman "I know you, aren't you married to Cher?" His response was classic country boy: "No Ma'am. She's married to me."
Allman was asked about his 6 failed marriages in an interview not long before Gregg passed. He told Rather he never asked any of them to marry him; they asked him...;)
He plays a great bad guy in the movie Rush. (1991)
One of my favorite flicks.
Greg Allman’s brother Duane was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1971.
Saw him with Stevie Ray...amazing!
This song written for Cher. "I'm no stranger to the street, I've got my Label, So I won't crumble at your feet".
This song was Greg's life story. Listen to a great cover song he did called "dark end of the street"
Greg's vocals at it's peak. Arguably the best blue eyed soul, blues and yes jazz voice ever with due respect to Elvis, Joe Cocker, Daryl Hall and Michael McDonald.
His "Laid Back" album is Blues\Gospel music, but his music with The Allman Brothers Band is Blues Southern Rock! Would love to see a reaction to The Allman Brothers Band song, "Soulshine". Soulshine, its better than sunshine, its better than moonshine, damn sure better than rain!!!
Gregg Allman did a solo LP called "Laid back." It is so good, and no one reacts to it. He does "Will the circle be unbroken" and "These Days," which is my favorite.
Nice choices Will.
Queen of Hearts too
Absolutely. Great song.
Best album ever
I know its an older video but its a Gibson guitar. It's the way it's played. Not a steel guitar. A steel is played on a stand. Nice video thanks for posting.
Live at the Fillmore East is one of the best live album ever. Stormy Weather is a blues eargasm. One album side of Whipping Post and Duane's guitar work. Now I got to listen to this double album, again.
Stormy Monday. Duane and Dicky Betts doing some fine guitarwork.
not a day goes by without some version of the Allman Brothers on my playlist!
the best to ever do it.
One of the most talented musicians I’ve ever seen.. beside his brother 🫢💪🏻
As you know he was in All an Brothers. Lost his brother, Duane in accident early on. He carried band for years then went solo. LAID BACK is great album!!
The Allman Brothers were southern Rock. This is a solo Greg Allman album. Loved them and this is my fav Greg Allman song.
Pure southern charm and rocker!! Allman Bros ❤
Man this one takes me back! What a great song! The 80s ruled!
Great song from Gregg Allman. 🎸🎤🔥
Ha! The sneeze. I bet Asia has a squeaky sneeze. Lol. Check out any Allman brothers songs.
always loved this song! and i also always thought .38 special would do a great cover of this. they also perfectly mine that wonderful melody-driven southern rock vein.
Funny - I loved this song years ago, but never did it remind me of 38 special until I watched this reaction tonight. As I listened the thought came to me that it might be 38 Specials lead guitarist on this song, because it sure sounds like it!
Checkout No One Left To Run With by The Allman Brothers.
Rip to a legend
Greg All man has some great tunes
"BEFORE THE BULLETS FLY". AND " QIUEEN OF HEARTS"
Was married to Cher...have son...Elijah Blue.
Allman Brothers, the song Soulshine! EXCELLENT!
An earth angel for sure
Oh my bar hopping days. Been so long, I miss having a night I can't remember. 😁
I'm No Angel is one of the best albums ever.
This wasn't written by Greg but it is perfect for him
Classic song. Staple of album oriented FM radio back in the day. Let me show you my tattoo baby 😎
'I might steal your diamonds,
I'll bring you back some gold!"
Guitar solos by "Dangerous" Dan Toler, RIP DAN
Love the music you choose. I’m retired & all these songs bring back so many memories. Thanks!
great song by Gregg.RIP
From their "Wasted Words" track:
"Ain't No Saint,
Sure as Hell, Ain't No Savior,
Every Other Christmas,
I Would Practice Good Behavior".
These days and Multicolored Lady from the Laid Back album by Gregg Allman
The best solo song by Gregg showing his maturity yet still has the grit! Not country, pure rock and blues!Duane Allman died in a motorcycle at a very young age so was only part of the first couple of album which were pure heaven. The Allman Brothers band had its ups and downs as did Gregg though overall played together till Gregg passed away a few years ago. He did 8 solo albums or with his own band andleast one great solo album that was very good. This song came out in 1987 and was his highest charting hit.
My favorite Gregg Allman song
Chicks always fall for the Bad Boy,,,,,💥💥💥👍😎
It's his 4th solo album.... Allman brothers went back-and-forth together and apart But they went from around 1990 to 2014 when they retired.... Then he went solo till his death
Started with Hourglaas and the Allman Joys from the mid sixties.
I like his rendition of Queen of Hearts
Progressive rock n roll 🎉❤Cher and Greg have a son named blue I think. almond great music I loved growing up listening to them. Those were the greatest times. Wish I could go back in time when things were real and people were a lot happier, respectful. Now it's all about the dress code and bs. Then times were really ALOT of fun and people weren't soooo shallow..... If your shoes don't cost a lot you're labeled as a nobody it's ridiculous how fake times have become, along with people! Not everyone but everyone has to make an impression. I grew up just being me😊
****After Brother Duane's passing, Greg continued the legacy of Southern Rock along with LYNYARD SKYNARD & the MARSHALL TUCKER BAND { Oh, He & CHER have a Son, Elijah Blue.]
Greg Allman made solo albums during the two periods when the band was broke up: 1976-78 and 1982-89. He did have one solo album at the height of the band's success in 1974 called Laid Back that the hit song "Midnight Rider". He was briefly married to Cher and recorded an album with her in 1977.
Love you two! You always find the best to react to. Midnight Rider by Gregg is also great. Will you react to 80s band Cock Robin doing Just Around the Corner or Thought You Were On My Side. Great vocals by Peter Kingsbury and Anna Dacausio.
Autobiographical of Gregg. RIP Sir.
"Anything Goes" was another hit song from the same album.
Southern Rock
Love!
Melissa ….is another good one❤
This Melissa agrees.
Dan Toler was a fantastic guitarist!! Melody for days
Never go wrong with Gregg or the ABB.
Another good one or two yall will like is" Multi Colored Lady" and his version of Jackson Browns "These Days". Please check those out.
Southern rock, not "Country" but rock with a twang and southern drawl. fantastic song. expected your eyebrows to go up when he says "let me show you my tattoo".
Love anyone kickin it with Greg or The Brothers Allman!😉 Try “Come and Go Blues, it’s another killer. 🤘😎
Asia & BJ You both need to listen to the album Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore East ok Get your munchies your drinks & your smokables & most definitely sit there & listen to the whole 6 cd set and get totally blown away by the best live album ever recorded in rock history 🍑🍄✌️❤️🎶🎼🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love this song!!!!! Rocking on. Missing you and your rock n roll😘😭😢
GREAT Song, Went from B'klyn to Fort Lauderdale in 1987 for Spring Break (the Brooklyn Hotel of the Sheraton Yankee Clipper) and we saw MTV for the FIRST Time (Brooklyn/Canarsie didn't get CABLE until the 90's) and this is where I first heard this song. Thank You for ALL of your Videos and Merry Christmas,.
It’s a Gibson regular electric probably 3-4K and one great song feel good song with a beat .
This song is so good, it's on my running playlist! Perfect beat to keep moving. Plys, you can never go wrong with anything Allman. Saw them in concert five times, starting in 1973.
Uh oh you got it? Babe. You good? The LOOK. Keeps goin'. You two are great.
So, I have seen the brothers at least 15 times and whatever solo work Greg did, it was included on stage. And Dwayne died about midway through their career, In a motorcycle accident.
Bob Seger, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Steve Miller Band have similar sound...great music!!😎
Though I might steal your diamonds I'll bring you back some gold.....as in Acapulco gold. It was rumored back when he was married to Cher he stole some of her jewelry and went on a bender 🤣✌🤘💞
Lead guitar played by " Dangerous " Dan Tuller !!!
Wife here.., Love Love Love this 80's classic...Cher does a Great cover of this as she was married to him for awhile...!!❣"PURE intentions at heart"..Awesome as always you Guys!!!
Thanks for listening
The soloist is "dangerous" Dan Toler. Killer Guitarist!
Dang memories this hits close to my heart forever
I heard that!
So good
Greg will call it southern rock. Also it's more commercial for MTv video age. That's a Les Paul electric guitar. Check out SoulShine. 👊
He live the classic bad boy life of a rockstar
I was never an Allman Bros. fan. But this one here though? Always lit a fire in me.
I'm sure this will get a strike for racism but it isn't. I love watching black folks dig music that (fairly) come from other black folks. But yall just move so well. Watching yall move with the songs I grew up on is a delight--at best I click a heel.
Nice tune! Here we go. Tight band! Not steel guitar. Greg had a few solo albums, all great. And stayed in ABB. Great reaction guys. Thanks.
Cool, thanks!
We always called this Southern Fried Rock N Roll.....
Personnel for this song does not mention a steel guitar..
I would love for a politician to use this as their theme song - I'd vote!
Drummer on this song, Chaz trippy, his son, Charles, does daily CZcams videos, on his channel, formerly internet killed television now just Charles and Allie, and they hold the Guinness world record for most consecutive days posting an original video on youtube
Who remembers Gregg Allman's 9 day marriage to Cher? This song came after that, by a while, he needed some cooling off from that bad day. Just the story of his life, that's all.
well, technically they were married from 1975 to 1978...and this song was from 1987.
Wrong. Should correct your posting.
Good pick! One of my favorites from him after The Allman Bros.
Southern rock is the best imo
That's a slide guitar that you hear. It's used in Blues music alot. It's a piece the guitarist wears on his ring finger(usually) on the fretboard hand and instead of holding down notes with the fingers you slide over the notes. They can be made out of glass, plastic or metal. The old bluesmen invented it by using the neck of an old bottle. Slide guitar is sometimes referred to as bottleneck guitar for this reason. *EDIT Greg Allman's long deceased older brother Duane was one the masters of slide guitar.
There is NO slide guitar on this song. It is simply Dan Toler playing with a legato style.
How long have you been playing guitar?
@@bryansimmons4550 Sounds like it. If I'm wrong SO WHAT.
@@bloppysloppy2283 Oh, I'm just enjoying your history of slide guitar.
That's Dan Toler playing an electric guitar
One of my all time favorites.
Southern Rock!
However, the world was shocked when 29-year-old Cher married 27-year-old Southern rocker Gregg Allman on June 30, 1975, a mere four days after she finalised her divorce from Sonny.
Great video!
I believe that is a Fender Stratocaster playing lead guitar.
Van Halen "Tattoo"
That wasn't a steel guitar. it was just a standard electric guitar. He just had a little sound on it. They stretch the strings and it sounds like a steel guitar
BLACK HEARTED WOMAN, STAND BACK.
What really happened to Duane Allman?
Duane Allman, a slide guitarist and the leader of the Allman Brothers Band, is killed on October 29, 1971 when he loses control of his motorcycle and drives into the side of a flatbed truck in Macon, Georgia. He was 24 years old.
No, he didn't slide into the truck. It was a truck from a construction site up the road. He did not hit the truck. He lost control of his motorcycle. The truck had turned across his lane but Duane, who had become airborne after speeding over a hill, got spooked by the truck and when he landed, the bikes front wheels turned and Duane flew over the handle bars. The bike, then, bounced and landed on top of Duane and slid down the road. That is how the accident happened, October 29th, 1971.
Greg had a solo album.
It's Southern Rock.
Gregg says he's no angel, but in my book he is.
Go listen to Soulshine omg it’s so good
It's a normal electric guitar. Probably a Fender Telecaster(common to country music) 0r a Fender Stratocaster. His solo album was just a pause in the Allman Bros. story. Have y'all done "Seven Turns" by the Allman Brothers yet? I would love to see your reaction to that!
The solo sounds like it is played on humbuckers. It's a richer, smoother tone than what you get with Tele or Strat single coils.
That's Dangerous Dan Toler on guitar, and I never saw him play anything other than a Les Paul.
Greg was married to Cher for a while but it didn't last due to their different personalities and lifestyles. Cher liked the glitz and glamor and Greg was more down to earth and just wanted to make his music.
BJ feelin it...Asia say "Hell Naw!" LOL
Ya All LES PAUL Guitar
No DUANE Died
