This song was written by one of the great storytelling songwriters of her generation, Matraca Berg. She has written hits for a host of other country artists and has also recorded many of her own songs. There are so, so many great ones, but I would start with "Eat at Joe's", "Lying to the Moon", "Back in the Saddle", and "Alice in the Looking Glass".

There are a few country songs that hit you whether you like the genre or not. I had mentioned on another video about the kids being grown, moved states away pursuing their career, and the wife having passed in 2015. This song brings back those "strawberry wine" memories. She was 16 and I was 17 when we met. September will be 8 years since her passing, and even in that short amount of time it feels like a dream. I turn 43 this month and it feels like my memories are another person's life, if that makes any sense. Loved the reaction, and hearing ya'lls love story!

Patty Loveless is another gem in the country genre. You’ve heard her sing with Vince Gill but she had a great solo career. “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” from Austin City Limits is a masterpiece. Give her version a try before the newer collab with Chris Stapleton tempts you. Her version without him is much better, imo.

Funny story, years ago, I went into a house, I was in real estate, saw all these CMA and ACM awards. So happened, the home I was in was one of the writers of this song, among many other country songs he won awards for. I had never heard of this song either, I learned ❤

I think this came out in 96. So deanna was about 30. She is (I think) 56 or so now. She still sounds great and is still one of the most beautiful women around. Song always reminds me of high school, which for me was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and that Boones Farm apple or strawberry wine. Thanks for the memories Amber.

I'm a rocker chic 🤘at heart but I enjoy all kinds of music. For some reason I've been singing this song while cleaning the house lately but I only remembered the chorus as I heard it waaay back in my teens but it stuck with me. And I about fell over when BLAM here it was! It's even better than I remembered. And as always, watching true music lovers reacting and APPRECIATING all kinds of music from different decades is so satisfying! You guys just make me HAPPY! *and seeing the OU aparrel I've seen y'all wear I just want to send a Boomer Sooner howdy from this Okie to y'all!)🎶🥰💜

I don't even like Country music, but this was popular when I was in high school and there a guy and a school dance and a moment, and this was playing. I didn't even know the guy felt it too until our 20 year reunion and this starting playing. I looked up and he was there in front of me asking me to dance, so I knew he'd felt it too. Too bad he was married, but it was still a special song and two special moments.

You are thinking of Carlene Carter. Deana Carter is not connected with that Carter family. Carlene is June’s daughter by Carl Smith, and she was once married to British rock musician Nick Lowe.

Beautiful reaction. It was so sweet to see this song touch u Amber. Being older now the nostalgia definitely makes it so magical. I didnt end up with my high school sweetheart but it does remind me of my first little boyfriend i had. My neighbors cousin who would come stay with his aunt (my neighbor) every summer. That last line "is it really him or the loss of my innocence ive been missing so much." Definitely being a kid and so innocent ❤
