Let us know what you thought about Czech Republic entry for Eurovision 2023.
The song is about Ukraine. Czech Republic and Ukraine being Slavic sisters. Russia was trying to take Ukraine’s crown.
But this is like a Slavic version of a K Pop song.
Oh my God , what a bullshit!Stop blaming Russia in everything!
song: *is all about slavic cultures, has 3 slavic languages in it*
song: *chorus is in ukranian, the message is primarily supporting ukraine in the war with russia*
our old queens: "it sounds russian"
nah mate kill me
Russia is also a slavic country, slavic traditional music is similar in those countries
@@mrmr4622 i am russian, so no need for this clarification:) the problem is exactly this kind of treatment other slavic nations get - anything slavic is classified as russian, which is just not true, we all are diverse and people want to be respected and recognized as separate, not one, despite being similar or coming from similar backgrounds. slavic is not just russian.
@@sadsadratatouille5984 That's exactly what I've been thinking all the time about these kind of reactions - with all the respect to both nations, "Slavic" doesn't mean Russian or Ukrainian only... Just as we can see in this video, there are other Slavic sisters too...
@@robinoswald There was a Czech author in the 19th century who was very critical of Russia (during the time when Czechs were mostly in support of pan-Slavic unification under the Russian rule to escape the Austro-Hungarian empire) and he said "Russians love to call everything that is Russian to be Slavic so that later they can call everything that is Slavic to be Russian"
Actually, it's more seems like girl in blue represents Russia (very common russian make up), and men represent blue blood, which related to kings or to politics (if about today)
So song represents slavic sisterhood who should fight against powerholders (which pushes them against each other)
This one really took me by surprise,my number 1 for sure
I want this to win 😭👑🔥
No chance
And pigs will fly
Best song so far
It's a type of a song where all you can do is just stare at the video and listen to it with your mouth wide open because you don't know what's going on and then at the end just say: I think I liked that 😂
I adore this song ❤️ The best Czech song ever! Slavic sisters, 12 points for you from Serbia 🇷🇸❤️🇨🇿
❤
I am very glad that you did not immediately understand that this is a song with a political context. That the girl in red is Ukraine that is being tortured. That other sisters are Slavic countries. And that the girl in the blue plank is not a clown. This is an old Russian allusion to the outfits of Russian girls in old Rus', and she represents Russia that eats the mess from the words blah, the bloody mess and enjoys it. There is a lot of political context in this song and in the video. BUT! Despite all this, this is probably the best thing I heard at the Euro this year. And even despite the fact that I am Russian and now live in Russia. I just fell in love with this song.
Thank you, I would have never known.
Песня и правда топовая
Interesting. I don´t live in a slavic country and some of the imagery and symbolism I may not get. As a western Europe socialized man I saw in the yellow blouse and the blue scarf (?) on her head nothing russian, but I saw her as the sister under attack: Ukraine. And the girl in red is not only in red, but has also a lot of white to her costume, which are the polish colours. And when you put white, red and blue colour togehter, you probably get a colour similar to that, the men are wearing.
Even as a ukrainian I didn't get it untill you wrote it, thanks!
Hey guys! Glad you liked the song! 😁The live performance was okay (in terms of their live vocals), but our national selection was quite on a low-budget (since Eurovision is not really that popular here in the Czech Republic) and the staging was really small, not allowing to do anything creative at all, so reacting to the official music video was such a good decision since you can see all the symbolisms, the translation of the lyrics etc. There are actually 3 different Slavic languages, each one for a different Slavic language family (western - Czech, eastern - Ukrainian, southern - Bulgarian) so it kinda symbolies all the Slavic nations, with our similar languages, related culture, traditions, history... related just like the sisters in the video. Plus the members are from various Slavic nations - three are Czechs, one is Slovak, one is Bulgarian and one is Russian (+ they've also collaborated with one Ukrainian). I can't even say how happy I am for seeing my country sending this time something more traditional, ethnic, with (also) Czech language... something that I've been waiting for years 🤩
Thank you for the info Robin! We absolutely missed all of that going into it blind, but that elevates it to something even more special! Really can’t wait to see how they present this in the lives! (This is Goy by the way!) 😘😘
@@twyforddogs6975 You're very welcome Goy! ☺❤ That's completely understandable and rather remarkable that you didn't hesitate and (as always) went for an authentic, raw reaction, without finding any deeper info about it since it would influence your immediate and very first opinion about the whole entry... I really appreciate your effort and I am well-aware of the criticism that you often get from the fans like you "dOn'T uNDerStaNd tHe mESsagE, ThE cuLtuRal aSpECt bEHiNd iT" etc... Like wtf do people expect from a very first reaction? That's the whole concept - to get your raw, authentic, first immediate reaction and we - the fans of yours - can then eventually give you more details or explain some of the hidden symbols etc. 🤦♂
(Btw. - another interesting fact - the group is called after Vesna - an old pagan Slavic goddess of spring and fertility - it's quite obvious then that the inspiration for their work is from the Slavic folklore and mythology 😌).
Following and knowing you since the very beginning of your channel, it means a lot to me that you like the song 😌 Don't know how the other fellow Czech Eurovision fans (as there are not many of us 😂🙈) see it, but in my eyes it's something very special, we kept sending pop songs after pop songs all the time, always in English... so for me - a Eurovision fan with a huge love for the native languages and the traditional, folk, ethnic aspects in the songs - it's something I've been waiting for so many years for my country to send... 🤩🥰
Very excited for their staging, hopefully they won't ruin it 😅
Keep enjoying the new Eurovision season, can't wait for more of your reactions! 🤩😁❤
@@robinoswald 😘
@@robinoswaldHopefully Top 10❤ But I am scared :( 😢
@@tom_4546 I have hopes, seems like they're working on their staging a lot, hopefully it will pay off 😁🤞❤
Great reaction. I felt exactly the same. Utterly sold on this song. ESC at its best and this proves its relevance.
If they work on staging really well they could win the whole competition. My absolute favourite so far! P.S. If French person says courage it means good luck.
This song is so good, my current winner
I also think that some Eurofans are overracting about their live performance, I really don't think that it was that bad considering there was really no budget for the national selection
Yeah I think the same! I'm sure they will show us impressive staging in Liverpool, because their live vocals are already good they need only a little bit polishing, so they will be able to focus on stage.
Czech, ukrainian, bulgarian, english languages in one song. One on a toy horse is a bass player, the one with little crown on her head is a drummer, the one with that lipstick is a fiddle player, the one with red soup is a piano player and all of them are vocalists.
When i saw the tumbail i though you were going to hate this and then it was completely the pposite xD i also love this, for the first time Czech Republic is sending something traditional and at the same time so modern
I'm loving Czech Republic and Norway out of the songs you've reacted to. Slovenia completes my Top 3 right now. It'll be interesting to see what you think about Slovenia. I think you will like it! 🤞
powerful song, it makes me emotional in a way
This song have a different languages: Czech english ukraine And Bulgarian rap
This song is in my top 2. I can’t decide a #1 just yet.
is the other one Spain?
somehow it gave me Manizha vibe, however, the more I'm listening to the song the more I'm falling in love with it. It has its atmosphere and it's dragging you inside. LOVE it.
The video... The best I've seen from the Czech Republic.
Slavic power ❤💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Czech & English in it
This song is so powerful! Choose love over power 💕
Thanks for your reaction 💛
That national final performance wasn't that bad (cough, ireland) but the slick music video with subtitles helps
I can't wait to be a part of new project
I love this, If the performance is this good, I am going to vote for this. It is a strong message and it is nice to hear it from Czech Republic
Vesna is a female folk band led by singer and lyricist Patricia Fuxová. She founded the group in 2016 while still studying at the Jaroslav Ježek Prague Conservatory. In addition to Patricia, the founding members were her classmates Bára Šůstková (violin), Andrea Šulcová (flute) and Tanita Yankovová from Bulgaria (piano). The original idea was for a group that would be all-female and celebrate Slavicness and femininity. First song Morana was released in 2017 and, in addition to Vesna, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra participated in it.
In 2018, there was a change and Andrea Šulcová and Tanita Yankovová left the group, but the group, on the other hand, grew with drummer Markéta Vedralová and pianist Olesya Ochepovská from Russia. In this lineup, Vesna is currently joined by bassist Tereza Čepková from Slovakia. She released her debut album Pátá bohyně Vesna in November 2018 and earned a nomination for the Anděl (The Angel) 2018 awards in the Discovery of the Year category.
Recently, the Norwegian singer Aurora also chose them as an opening act for her concert in the Czech Republic. Former member Tanita Yankovová returned to the group for the Eurovision song My Sister's Crown, who enriched the song with Bulgarian rap, so Vesna sings in four languages in the song - Czech, English, Ukrainian and Bulgarian.
Love this journey for you, guys 😆"I think I like it" and "I don't get it, but I love it" jajajaja.
Guys, I'm from Chile, South America. I know nothing about the slavic kingdom or the Czech Republic but I can't stop listening this song!!!!
And yes! I hope they can translate this amazing music video to the live presentation 🙏🏻
PS: I knoooow, THAT BRIDGE! 🙌🏻
Also, they sing well on the live performance but the stage was soooo boring (for all the contenders tbh) so, it wasn't worthy just react to that video and I'm glad you react to the official music video because it's a better representation of what they can offer, in my opinion 🤷🏻♀😊
Esta canción obsesiona, no sabía que hay una versión live 😍
Love this song. It's not my #1 this year, but I really enjoy it. Its not my usual type of music, but I really like it. I am a big EDM fan and We Are Domi was my #1 in Eurovision last year..
The makeup is a piss take on matryoshka dolls or nesting dolls which is a middle finger to Russia due to the war.
The 3 languages alongside English, Czech, Bulgaria and Ukrainian which are Slavic-Eastern European languages which are IMO are saying "Russia, don't take sister Ukraine's crown" in other words don't take her right to exist away.
From my perspective, it's a love letter to Ukraine and Slavic cultures and a monumental f you to Russia without being overly political. It's very intelligent and philosophical. My winner so far.
Yes, they are dancing on the edge of rules. I hope they let them sing.
@@drakulkacz6489 The fact it is nuanced and not so openly brazen and deliberate as the Belarussian entries in 2021 which got them disqualified. Yes it's teetering on the rules envelope, however the same could of been said for Jamala who won in 2016 and the beef surrounding her entry 1944. I don't think it's deliberately political in that capacity like others I mentioned above as like Jamala said "The personal can be political and vise versa". The EBU are sensible and agreeable 95% of the time and can understand, deliberate instigation and intention, they will most likely compete in Liverpool, there may be a slight edit or two but not noticeable to us.
Love, love, love This music.
I accidentally saw this video. I am from Morocco. !💖
The rap part is in Bulgarian
I love this song and video ❤❤❤❤❤
are we sure this song will represent Czech Republic?..., still no words about it on Eurovision official pages, still no video on YT..
Yes it is official. Czech republic had a final and voting and this was chosen.
First u must understand meaning of the song. Please translate all lyric and you will be surprised how deep is this song!.
Bad sister are russia, who not listen, whom God are with blood on his head, who want power and boyes death. Russia is black shadow in slavic sister family .
Song is perfect. My favourite for sure!
Сколько ж вас баранов в комментариях.. ужас
@@galinka7857 stolko baranov skol'ko rasistov v rossii, nigde v mire net. You will pay one day for all you did in Ukraine.
TOP 5 100%
I am from the Czech Republik❤❤❤
Watching the clip, it is a contender to win. Watching the live perfotmance, it is a non qualifier. I hope they will have have a good live

This song have very deep message from heart to everyone not only to slovic ppl, is about past few years what we experience like pandemic, ukraine war, economic crisis, about to fear how they programming us, with love we not give them power that all - is simple beautiful message.
I would like to see your reaction to the new song by Mikolas Josef- Boys don't cry❤
The history and countries have their colors. What color is Russia? What color is Ukraine? What color is Poland? Wittgenstein and his color theory.
Ця пісня в підтримку України.
Приспів співають на українській мові.
Verry different sounding song. But it works if you here it. But I also see the problem in how to perform this on stage. Specialy because of the limit of people on stage. I like it and I waiting for a live performance.
The only music you two know and love is the one you dance to i the Jumbo centre in Gtan Canaria haaashassaa
The girls are the slavic countries
Guys.... Mama šč won for Croatia.... Can't wait to see your reactions muahahaha
Nice reaction like usually!
You guys is a bit late the is two or even more new eurovision 2023 proposal. Please check Australia and Poland.
The song Is mostly about slavic history where the purple guys Are imperialism with also a little undertone for todays war
Please don't call this country "Czech", that's like calling France "French" or Poland "Polish". "Let's listen to the song from Polish" - see how wrong that sounds? Same applies to "Czech", which is an adjective.
It's either Czechia (official short name in English since 2016, official in Eurovision as of 2023) or Czech Republic (no longer in use in non-political events, such as music contests and sports).
Nice review. :)
We will try to make sure to pronounce it correctly
@@ToyAndGoy It's very simple: It's pronounced "Checkia". The same way Czech is prounounced "Check". The root of the word is the same.
It doesn’t sound Russian😭😭😭 it’s just Slavic female unity so it sounds Slavic
I mean, I don’t blame non slavic people for putting everything slavic under “russian” umbrella term. Is it problematic/neocolonial and falling into Russian oppressive narrative? Sure. But at the same time, it takes time to educate people, to prove to them that some things are more inappropriate than they realize.
So symbolically you called Ukrainian chorus russian 😂 so sad actually to hear that
Apologies ! 😂
Це талановито,але безладно,надто всього з двоякими змістами🙈
POLAND 12 points my sister
This is not a women empowering song tho, the sister is Ukraine…the red soup with letters that the Russian girl is fed is the propaganda
Ahoj
Я русская и мне песня очень нравится,не смотря на политику,припев на украинском а не на русском ребята
Many Ukrainians did not like this song and especially the music video. We appreciate your support and frankly, these songs about "sisterhood" and women in matryoshka dolls are kind of absurd, it's Russian cultural propaganda visualized.😒 I didn't think that in the Czech Republic they don't distinguish between Ukrainian and Russian culture at all... In order to make kitsch out of something, you need to understand the topic well.
Also, war is a very painful subject for the people who are living it right now, and it's very strange and sickening to see someone make a show out of it, hype it up for a career.😑
To be honest and I really don't want to offend you, before 2022 we had no idea what's the difference between Russians and Ukrainians, you can't be surprised when most of Ukrainians we meet here were Russian speakers and you both wear tracksuits and sit in park with bottle of vodka, that's how we see our eastern "brothers" 🤣
@@Pidalin I've seen a lot of concern trolling about this song around youtube. It stinks of fake outrage.
Great powerful song,❤ Ukraine is their sister and Russia is that man in the video
Russia is not and was not a part of a Slavic kingdom. It’s roots are Finn Hungarian and Mongol and lots of different ethnic groups.
You need to watch the live performance.... Is so 🙄😖 awful
All song were just sang because of small budget.
Go cry
It wasn't that bad considering the budget of the selection and the team behind the music video is doing their ESC staging so their performance will be massively upgraded.
@@sav0001 I hope so cause Czech Rep is not Serbia :(
Their live performance was really weak, hope they wont sing that badly on the actual stage, otherwise oof...
Am i the only one who doesnt like this song (im from Czechia btw)
Not for me 👎🏻 xx 💋
I think the song is too political for this contest
Ukraine 2016/2022 was not?? Or Big countries could do everything and small can’t?
This contest is permeated by politics, so that Will not be a problem
The song is about Ukraine. Czech Republic and Ukraine being Slavic sisters. Russia was trying to take Ukraine’s crown.
But this is like a Slavic version of a K Pop song.
А может хватит притягивать политику за уши?
Песня вообще про феминизм. Ролик посмотри
