Each character and clip has some details:
The scout, in a moment he touches the cam and his fingerprints stood there for the rest of the segment. He's also fast because he needed to outrun his older brothers.
The solder isn't a real solder and is really crazy, he went to Europe and went on a murder spree AFTER world war 2 ended. His voice actor passed away during the pandemic due to covid, he got it after recovering from a recent stroke.
The demoman is always drunk, and I think is inmune to the consequences of alcohol. He has only one eye because once he got his eye cursed by a wizard's book that he wasn't suppose to read and turned his eye into a monster that is also a halloween event in the game, the medic tried to heal his eye with his machine, but doing that he brings back the eye monster. And when he was sensoured he wasn't swearing, he was revealing scottish goberment secrets (That the lonch ness monster was real.)
Though the pyro is crazy he's actually really friendly and caring of his teammates, he gets along with the engineer who tries to understand whst he's trying to say.
As teh medic said, he doesn't have a medical license, but his problems go beyond that. He sees his teammates as test subjects for his experiments and he sold their sould to the devil to get more chances at life. The ubercharge is indeed something you can do in game and is a great combo with the heavy because the doctor can hide behind while the heavy is invincible. And because of the segment, every time scout dies exploding there's a chance the pidgeon Arquimides flies out of the remains.
The heavy sound dumb, but he has a PhD in russian literature, he just has problems with english. Also, he survived the gulag when he escaped to America with his family.
The engineer has 11 PhDs, all in engineering and as he said, all his machines were designed and made by him, that includes a teleporter you can make in game.
In the world of TF2 New Zeland is in a dome underwater and sniper's parents sent him to Australia, and this I don't know if I got it right, in a rocket.
The spy is the scout's father and so far is the only character I know that made a yo mama joke and had evidence to back it up.
They lost the original script for the video of the sandvich, so the actors improvises the whole segment.

Even in game their voice is completely muffled by that mask.

TF2 is pretty bad for new players who don't know what's going on. Not only is there no real tutorial and the default settings are stuck in 2007, but it can be difficult to find a decent server with the default matchmaking settings due to bots infesting a lot of casual servers. Once you can recognise servers with bots and requeue quickly, or work out how to use the confusing community server page, the game is still going very strong with a massive player base.

As of right now, when I'm writing this comment, TF2 is number 7 on steam for most players in game.
Considering that this game came out in 2007 it's mind-boggling to me how it has more players in game than Apex, COD Warzone, Rainbow Six Siege, FIFA 23
This could be attributed to the fact that some players may be running the latter mentioned games on other platforms, and TF2's numbers of 105k players might be a little bit inflated due to the botting issue.
Howerver it's still impressive that a 16 year old game is still in the top 10 most played games on steam for every single day of the week.
If TF2 were a person they would be allowed to drive in most places around the world. When it comes to games, 16 years is a damn long time and it's impressive that it's still pulling those numbers.
As a great man once said, TF2 is a timeless masterpiece and I can't describe how much I love this game since the first time I got my hands on it in 2012 when it went F2P.
I wasn't planning on going on this rant, I was actually planning to only post the first paragraph but I just couldn't stop writing, it's so easy to speak about something you love.
So, if you made it this far, there's one last thing I want to share. In my opinion, as long as Steam will exist as a platform, TF2 will still have players running it. Let me know what you think about that.

Meet the Pyro: We're not even sure Pyro's a man, or human....
Meet the Demo: The bleeping wasn't excessive swearing, it was classified info being suppressed. He said 'more feckin sea monsters in the great loch ness'
Meet the Heavy: Bear in mind...$400k in the late 60s....
Meet the Engineer: 11 phds, and probably the smartest member of the team, or at least tied with Medic
Meet the Medic: Medic made a deal with the devil, and now his medical prowess is from a loose 'belief it will work' case. Like one time he scraped blood off the ground into a bucket and poured it in an open wound to put it back in someone. Also, in game any time a scout is blown apart by explosives, there's a 1% chance a dove will fly away from the gibs
Meet the Sniper: He's actually from New Zealand....which in the TF2 universe is kind of a joking play on both Atlantis and Krypton. No he doesn't have superpowers, but his real name is Mun-Dee.
Meet the Spy: Probably the best yo mama comeback of all time. Also, that cut on sniper's cheek got incorporated into his game model as a scar after this short released.
Meet the Sandvich: Originally was infinite use, but healed 120hp out of 300. bumped up to 300hp. Then given power to be thrown and used as a medium health kit(50% max hp heal). Then throwing nerfed so heavy couldn't use his own sandvich as a thrown pickup. Then given a 30 second cooldown if it healed any hp, but no cooldown if it did not heal hp (if heavy was at max hp and used it normally, he'd still play the animation and take a bite, but it wouldn't use it up and start the cooldown timer)
there's more official skits to watch. Biggest one being 'Expiration Date'

TF2 is a masterpiece of a game and a rare case of a game so good that lives for MANY years, even without major updates. ( The game has 100k+ daily online players, way more than many games today ).
If you guys want more official TF2 stuff to react, follow this little guide :
1 - Expiration Date ( A pilot episode of a TF2 series for adult swim. It didn't get out 'cause Valve messed up with some stuff. )
2 - "Mann Vs Machine" and "The Sound of Medicine" (Watch these 2 in the same video in that order, they kind of connect).
3 - The End of The Line ( A short movie for The "End Of The Line" update. It was made by the community, but got implemented into TF2 by Valve )
    4 - Jungle Inferno ( A trailer for a major TF2 update )
5 - The TF2 comics voiced by "The Beard" ( Yes, TF2 has OFFICIAL comics by Valve and they're as insane as these videos. If you guys really want to get into the lore, check it out... It's a bit slow in the beginning, but then starts to get REALLY GOOD in later chapters )

oh i wasn't expecting that. I love this game so much, I poured actual thousands of hours in it
imma Edit some stuff in as I watch:
-yes it's on console but only the PC version ever received updates
-the reason the soldier helmet is too big for him is because it's not his, he couldn't enroll in the army because, for some reason, he didn't passed the Mental Health Assessments to join. So he just bought second hand army uniform and started a carrier as a mercenary.
-there's a couple of item in game that give you "Pyrovision" replacing screams by laughter's, retexturing smoke and explosions into bubbles and confettis, fire into rainbow and there's even a couple of map that have unique textures for it !
-"Sasha" sleep in a tiny bed beside the heavy's. When asked by the scout if he wasn't embarrassed by that, the heavy answered that "yes, Sasha needs a bigger bed"
-when you kill a scout with an explosive in game there's a small chance to see Archimedes, the medic dove, flight out of his gibs
-the sniper piss jar is an actual in game weapon, and a very good one at that. it's a secondary that can be thrown as a projectile and apply debuff to anyone hit by the splash zone

Spy can also go invisible or feign his death in addition to disguising as any class FROM BOTH TEAMS! But yes, he's a complicated class to play for new players, because Spy and Engineer have more than the standard 3 weapon slot that the other classes have (Primary weapon, secondary weapon/utility item, melee): the Spy also has the invisibility watch and his disguise kit and the sapper to destroy Engineer buildings like sentries, dispensers and teleporters.
While the Engineer has his PDA to build or destroy said buildings, his wrench to level them up, and can pick up and carry and redeploy an existing building (or use a special unlockable shotgun to teleport buildings across to the map to his hand).
Or can forego his sidearm the pistol to equip the Wrangler to radio-control his sentry to switch it from it automatic locking onto enemies (literal aimbot) to personally controlling the sentry so you have to aim it yourself, but the upside is the sentry gets a longer range and faster firing speed and also an energy shield that gives it damage resistance so effectively the sentry turret gets more health against enemy fire.
Or switch the wrench to his Gunslinger robotic hand which grants +25hp and the ability to punch enemies to death and allows the Engineer to build a minisentry that deploys much faster and shoots faster and costs less metal to deploy but has only 100hp... but the downside is he can't build a standard level 3 sentry (which deals more damage, has larger healthpool, and at levels 3 gets a rocket launcher on top).

Here's some lore about each character that's in the comics that I remember and looked up
Heavy: His real name is Misha which is short for Mikhail. Heavy was born in Russia sometime around WW1. His father was an anti-revolutionary who opposed the Communist uprising, so he was executed and Heavy's family put in the gulag for three months before it was burnt down in 1941 and all the guards tortured to death. He is also one of the smarter characters among the other mercs knowing both Russian and English plus he has PhD in Russian literature.
Sniper: His real name is Mick Mundy. He was born in New Zealand and raised in the unforgiving Australian outback by adoptive parents. He is a paid assassin but is really against murder.
Engineer: His real name is Dell Conagher born and raised in Texas. He has 11 PhDs in sciences. The Engineer designed and built the Sentry Gun under contract from TF Industries in 1965. He might be considered to be the smartest character among his comrades.
Scout: Jeremy is his real name. Also no surprise he was born and raised in Boston. He is considered to be on of the dumber characters in the lore. He has a basic elementary knowledge of reading. The Red Spy is his father.
Demoman: Tavish Finnegan DeGroot is the name of the beloved "Black Scottish Cyclops." He was born in Scotland. He has such a high blood alcohol level for so long that eating normal food poisons him and is fatality deadly to him and it is shown that his body is so accustomed to his alcoholic lifestyle that it is able to distill alcohol from his bone marrow. Demo is best friends with Soldier
Soldier: John Doe you could call him since they don't know his real name and he was born in the Midwest USA. The Soldier is both a priest and a lawyer and he deafened the Scout in court. He was rejected from every branch of the United States military during World War II, so to get around this, he bought a plane ticket to Poland and went on a "Nazi" killing spree, which was ended quickly when he found out that the war had already ended in 1949. It also inferred that he might have lead pensioning.
Spy: His name is unknown. He hails from French meaning he can speak both English and French. He is also the Scouts father.
Medic: Called Dr. Ludwig and he hails from Stuttgart, Germany. Of course he went to med school however he had his medical license taken from him. He created ÜberCharge, an ability of the Medic that enables himself and his healing target to become fully invulnerable to damage. In the same comic, is also confirmed that Medic sold his own soul to the devil, but after that has "surgically added eight more", and wangles himself back to life by promising that the devil would have enough time to get the eight other souls in fifty years of extra life, and before leaving hell, he sells one soul for a pen to convince the devil. The eight extra souls are assumed to be his team mates' souls as later in the comic.
Pyro: Their name is unknown and so is their gender, however there has been hints that it's a female. It is thought Pyro makes really good spaghetti and Pizza due to their Italian father teaching them.

If you guys decide to try out the game, a few things you should know beforehand.
-In casual games you're more likely to find people who are newer to the game, so you'll be more equally matched here. The problem however, is that Casual servers are quite infested with bots, most of which pick sniper and instantly kill anyone that enters their sightline.
The community servers don't have the bot issue, but usually house players that are more familiar with the game and, as such, you're more likely to be outmatched. The uncletopia servers are the most popular choice in general, as they facilitate an experience that's very similar to the casual servers without you having to deal with the infestation of bots.

Spy and sniper are probably the two hardest to play. Back in the day I used to be a half decent Engie an alright demoman and pretty good heavy. Medic has the problem that your whole team is expecting you to heal them but your heavy likely wants you to stick to them like glue so you can put them in Uber mode as often as possible. Nothing a heavy likes better than having a pocket medic.
Scout you need to be good at not getting hit, he's practically made of fucking glass. Good for a lot of hit and run tactics and for getting to mission objectives quickly though if you can get good enough with him to not die every few seconds.
If you think meet the team was good you should see the other animations.

It hasn't received major updates in years and it's recently had an issue with aimbots, but the community just WON'T LET IT DIE! If you want more content to watch, there are trailers for the Mann VS Machine mode updates as well as more cinematic adventures with the End of the Line trailer and the Expiration Date short, which was actually supposed to be the first episode in a Adult Swim series, before the deal fell flat thanks to studio vs valve issues. After that, there is a cornucopia of fan made animations which are fantastic. A good person to start would be "the winglet" who is basically TF2 Pixar at this point.

to answer the questions. YES these are all elements in the actual game. Theres no "Ultimates" its moreso on which class you choose to specialize with.
Scout- Double Jump, Fastest running and capture speed
Soldier- All rounder with good hp, and high damage offset by his slower mobility but he can rocket jump
Pyro- Close range specialist with damage over time and good speed + hp offset by little in long range fights
Demoman- High damage and overall average with a focus on explosive damage but he can also use his sticky launcher to rocket jump like soldier
Heavy- Highest hp, slowest of any class and largest hitboxes. His damage is ludicrous but he is vulnerable to being flanked
Engineer- Ability to build a sentry gun, ammo and hp dispenser, and a teleporter for relocation. His downside is that he isnt very good by himself having low hp and damage. Using his melee he can upgrade his buildings and other engineer buildings up to level 3.
Medic- Fast but low damage, Able to heal quickly and build an ubercharge which makes both the Medic and whoever he is currently healing invincible for a short time. Ubercharge is built from 0-100 by healing other players.
Sniper- Has the longest range of any class complimented by getting critical hits on headshots dealing roughly 3x damage. Low hp and same speed as Demoman so he is one of the more skill based characters.
Spy- The most skill required class, low hp but decently fast. Damage is one of the lowest but his melee is the fastest and his unique trait is that if he hits with his melee in the enemy player's back it will instantly kill them regardless of hp. He is also able to disguise himself as an enemy OR ALLY to conceal his presence. He also has an invisibility watch that grants him well; invisibility for a short time.

  • @Agretonneevosaiden
    @Agretonneevosaiden Před rokem

I've been playing TF2 since it originally released, people still definitely play, and there are a lot of people still doing so. A recommendation if you do want to try the game out; casual servers have a lot of bots on them, while it may take forever for valve to address some of those issues, you'll find a better experience on some common "community" servers. I'd love to see a followup of everyone playing, and if you need someone to help you acclimate to the game easily I can help with that.
You asked about the classes in the game. Each class is fun to play for many different reasons, depending on how the battles are going and the objective of the map your playing. The spy is very fun, because depending on how your watch cloaks you, you can infiltrate in different ways. A regular watch is great because picking up ammo packs along the way keeps your cloaking active. A dead ringer is more interesting, it will instantly cloak you when you take damage, as well as drop a ragdoll corpse on the ground where you took damage at faking your death. It makes the spy a critical player for disableing a medic, or an engineer's sentry guns. To top it off the spy can disguise into either the enemy team, or even your own team for purposes of subterfuge. The class can be very hard to master though as it takes a large time investment into learning how to actually play the spy.
Each class can be played in a variety of different ways due to the natures of the different types of weapons they can potentially equip. Many of those weapons will be random drops you'll get from playing the game over time. Each class has taunt kills, which make the game more hilarious as well and some hilarious achievements can be gotten from using them. Team Fortress is a team oriented game and working as a team compliments the entire playing experience. Medic's can heal the team and give ubercharge to any class they want to to achieve a different end result, e.g. invulnerability, critical hits, superior overheals, absorb damage. An engineer can play defense or offense depending on loadout and helps the team achieve the mission by building teleporters and placing dispensers that can heal team mates strategically. The engineer's sentries can tilt a map fairly easily once it's placed or set the stage for a nice drawn out war of attrition.
I certainly would recommend trying this game out, it is free on stream, though the free version will only allow you a limited amount of backpack space, which may crimp you a little if you want to have every weapon collected for any possible loadout. Anyways, great video. I hope to see a followup!

"I'm assuming that's his ultimate or something?"
Something like that, yeah. Medic is the only character that has an ultimate-like ability; as he heals teammates, the Ubercharge meter slowly builds to 100%. Once this reaches 100%, the Medic right-clicks with his Medi-Gun to provide a temporary, 8-second buff to both himself and whoever he's healing. This buff changes on which weapon he is currently using.
The Medi-Gun gives 8 seconds of full invulnerability to all damage excluding environmental hazards, the Kritzkrieg gives 8 seconds of a 300% damage boost against players, the Quick-Fix gives 8 seconds of rapid healing, full overheal, and an immunity to knockback, and the Vaccinator has 4 seperate 2 second charges of 75% damage reduction from the selected damage type (bullets, explosions, and fire), a passive 10% damage resistance to the selected type (does not stack), an immunity to incoming critical hits, and heals 10% of incoming damage.

Spy IS loads of fun to play. The only downside is that people who have played the game for a while grow a sort of 6th sense for knowing when and where spies are. This in addition to the in-game voice chat make him, effectively, the weakest of the 9 classes. Despite this, with practice people can still terrorize servers as spy and he's still my personal favorite playstyle in TF2 despite his short comings.

Scout is the fastest and can double jump, soldier can use his rocket launcher to "rocket jump", Pyro is fireproof and can deflect projectiles, demoman can place up to 8 sticky bombs to remote detonate, heavy is just a tank with 300 health, engineer can build a sentry gun as well as a dispenser and teleporters to help the team, medic can use ubercharge to give him and the person he's healing a buff depending on the medigun he uses, sniper can headshot to inflict critical damage, and spy can go invisible and backstab people for an instant kill.
I hope all this helps if ya'll do play the game.

If your reacting to good tf2 stuff id recommend the next official video expiration date.
The "How it feels to play..." series by lazy purple if your interested in fun in depth looks at how each character plays
And because you guys like overwatch as well. Id recommend. Overwatch vs tf2 1 and 2 by the winglet. Very well done sfm animations.

The spy can disguise himself as the enemy team and sabotage turrets etc and backstab 1-hit kill enemies
The engineer can build autoturrets, health stations and teleporters.
The pyro is mostly used as a flanker and he can also check for spies by firing at his teammates a bit.
The scout runs the fastest and jumps twice
Demoman has the typical lob grenade launcher and sticky remote explosives
Soldier has a slow firing rocket and can fire at his feet to jump higher
    The sniper just snipes
Medic has the heal gun which can overheal allies aka extra hp and uses the ubercharge to make an ally invincible
The heavy had the powerful minigun but hes slow and an easy target for headshots

I like that the medic's quick-fix(that healing beam gun thing) healed heavy's shirt too
