    If you're wanting to play Engineer because it'd be "Like Torb..." You are in for a rude surprise. Engineer is one of the most involved classes to play. You will have to place your turret, and build it up while also building a dispenser both for yourself and your team, while also making a teleporter entrance and exit. Each building can be upgraded two times to reach its fullest potential, and all the while the enemy team is going to hate you, and focus your buildings destruction until they are gone, and then you will have to fall back and build them all, over, again. People will literally look away from the Heavy Medic combo currently about to massacre them just to shoot at you if they even think you're about to put down a sentry gun. You will constantly be hunted by spies looking to catch you in a moment of vulnerability as you swing your wrench to upgrade so as to backstab you and quickly sap all your buildings in an instant while you sit and wait to respawn, all the while hearing the distress calls of your creations as they slowly crumble and break. People will tell you what to do constantly in regards to what to build, where to build it, and what to build first, all while taking your metal and ammo packs and making the process even slower. Playing engineer is like learning how to fight two teams at once, yours and the enemy, which is why some engineers get so good at the class they break the mold and become monsters in their own right. That, or they just go insane with rage and start building teleporter exits on the edge of cliffs and let nature take its course...
    Been playing the game pretty much since it launched. Have been off and on over the years, and have over 3000 hours. I will tell you this right now though. Lazy's videos are excellent, but, they do not cover even the slightest bit in terms of the nuance that comes with playing the game and going from class to class. The physics engine of TF2 and the diversity between the classes allows for a nearly limitless amount of playstyles for every individual, and Lazy is primarily focused on the feel of competitive play, wherein you typically have only 1 of every class in a lobby with one exception of scout, and both teams are actually solely focused on playing the objective. Casual play is what the overwhelming majority of players in-game partake in, and each lobby is its own unique little world of mayhem. You never know what you will get in terms of a fight, but a day may come when you know true fear and see a singular heavy walk out of the enemy spawn, with eight medics attached to him, alternating their uber charges as an indestructible octo-russian mows down your team.

    • @pabloc8808
      @pabloc8808 Před rokem +3

      I was gonna reply with a serious analysis of which classes are the most complex in terms of gamesense and dm/mechanical skill but the "indestructible octo-russian" at the end of your comment sucker-punched me, that was funny

    • @Kamenari37
      @Kamenari37 Před rokem +1

      @@pabloc8808 Hehe well more or less the point I was trying to get across was that if you are looking at TF2 from the mindset of "This is how I am supposed to play the game." You are just handicapping yourself. The possibilities allotted by the source engine and the tools at each classes disposal make such thinking two-dimensional, and unfortunately, that mindset sticks with a lot of new players discovering the game, and only gets broken when they finally get gibbed by some lunatic doing some ridiculous tactic on the fringe of the map. There's nothing that prepares you for the spy who sneaks all the way across the map to your teams spawn, saps your teleporter entrance and then presumes to stand on it, waiting for the hapless engineer to return to his exit so he can knock it off only to be immediately telefragged because he was standing too close as the spy turned his own tools against him.
      No matter how long you play, how many guides to classes you read, or hours you accumulate, you're always going to run into that situation where somebody who is just dickin' around in game is going to own you and leave you going "wtf..." But that's part of what makes the game great. The potential for new experiences and ways of doing things is near limitless and has given it so much longevity. If only Valve still cared about it.

    • @pabloc8808
      @pabloc8808 Před rokem

      @@Kamenari37 Yup. I remember when I started playing Engineer and I sucked at it. Then I watched loads of Uncle Dane (because of course, it's always Uncle Dane). I was now fully prepared to commit and become an Engi main, terrorizing pushes and Spies alike. Then I got trounced again, because I knew how things worked on paper, but not in practice.
      The thing about TF2 is, you just don't get TF2 if you don't sink in the hours to understand what each class can do and the general mindset of a person playing the class. If you're playing Sniper you can't just think like a Sniper, you gotta think about how every class on the enemy team is going to react to your existence in that situation. Who's gonna flank, who's gonna jump, who's gonna hide, who's gonna pepper, what route is the Spy taking to get to you, where's the enemy Sniper gonna peek from to cheapshot you. It's like Lazypurple says in How It Feels To Play Scout, it feels like there's no skill cap, there's always something new to learn or a skill to hone

    • @Kamenari37
      @Kamenari37 Před rokem +2

      @@pabloc8808 Hehe well there was no Uncle Dane when I was learning to play years ago. Just a lot of 2 fort, playing on a custom map in a server that was really more of a glorified TDM. The mods would even change the intel cap to 99 sometimes just to get the point across and turned off crits on cap. It allowed for a lot of interaction and learning, and was the place I really honed my sniper skills as there were several people there who simply stood on the battlements all day sniping against one another.
      Nowadays unfortunately with the removal of spectator and team switching on Valve run servers, playing sniper is a gamble for me. It's sad but, I can easily wind up defeating myself by getting vote kicked as a hacker just because I am actually able to consistently land headshots, especially on unaware players. I can usually dispel people's bot accusations by doing the simple trick of talking in voice chat but sometimes you just get slapped with the "You have been kicked" plaque and just gotta move onto the next server. It's something I'm glad Lazy actually talked about in his Sniper video.

    3:15 Yes the hats do add to the humor of TF2 and, it makes it more iconic. There are other TFtubers(TF2 CZcamsrs) who are iconic by combining certain cosmetics, color, and unusual effects. No matter what era TF2 was in even the current (dark) one you can have a blast playing it with the right server and the right people. Copying from a different video the comment goes:
    "Overwatch is a game you play with your friends
    "TF2 is where you make them"
    I have never played a single minute of TF2 in my life only playing the Roblox "Rip-off" with over 460 hours on it. And I have indulged in the official trailers the SFM animations and tutorials for years always coming back for more. I don't really believe people when they say things that put games on a high pedestal; I do however believe they are right when they say that TF2 is a "Timeless masterpiece"

    Speaking of which, if you're interested in trolldier and the direct hit, lazy purple has already posted a video over a decade ago titled "It's precipitating adult males" for a montage, and another dude named elmaxo has made a video summarizing the sheer power of the best melee weapon in the game. On a side note, once you've gotten to the sniper, pyro and demo episodes, be sure to check out the extras video for each of those as it is just as entertaining as the regular videos themselves. Once you've completed the how it feels to play series, you can check out soundsmith's "A Mann's guide" series. It's only three videos in, but each has huge differences in levels of quality. The big earner is the most recent and best one of them all. Soundsmith himself also happens to be an excellent trolldier player. Enjoy yourselves:D

    The timeline of thr Team Fortress games goes like this:
    1996 - Team Fortress (Quake/QuakeWorld mod)
    1999 - Team Fortress Classic (Half-Life mod)
    2003 - Team Fortress Classic (standalone)
    2007 - Team Fortress 2
    It took some time to develop TF2 (it was first announced in 1998) and it went through a couple phases. One that focused on being a more realistic military combat game slowly turned into a premise of having an alien invasion going on. Ultimately, they decided on the more cartoony look and feel we have today, and I can't really imagine a world without it. TF2 will seemingly stand eternal, especially with how dedicated its players can be.

"Little guardian Pyro", "Turbulance" and "The Pybro" are some of the first to come to mind for me but there are so many others as well. Is also worth checking out some TF2's best creators such as Soundsmith and his Manns Guide series if you want more videos like what Lazypurple does and The Winglet if you want to see some of the best Animation the community has to offer. I would also recomend you watch "OVERWATCH vs TF2, but explained with food" by DougDoug as that is another fantastic video that gives some really good insight into what makes TF2 so special.

    - DoctorLalve has a series of gmod videos for each of the classes, that look like they were made by by an adhd addled brain on some "questionable" substances, as well as the Spook Fortress series.

I first downloaded the game in 2017, but didn't actually start playing the game very much until 2019, I don't play for very long when I do as it's a game I have to be 'In the mood' for. I currently have 1,098 hours which is not very much compared to most players. One more thing is that I would highly recommend against playing spy for a while if you do pick up the game. Spy is by far the hardest class in the game to play effectively even for experienced players and a bad spy is nothing but a detriment to the team. I would recommend Soldier, Heavy or Scout as easy to pick up classes for new players.

    It might be me but so far, people who have watched Tf2 content while being COMPLETE strangers to the game (like the quartet over here), their reactions weren't... genuine. Because they don't know what the fuck they're watching and don't understand the in-game innuendos because of this. Heck, sometimes it seems they don't understand the more generic internet memes Lazy has put in.
    Not to mention how fucking annoying it is to have every single new TF2 reactor, compare an Overwatch character with that of TF2. Why? Because it's the more popular game out of the two? It's almost like it has become a mandatory requirement in order for TF2 outsiders and/or newcomers to understand how TF2 and its characters work. Fucking ridiculous.
