- Just a first attempt at making a video with the "Little Dark Age" template.
Toyota is pretty much one of the last car companies that is exciting and resisting against the EV-only agenda. It's my favourite car company as I grew up with them and own an MR2 Turbo. With the upcoming GR Corolla, the GR Yaris, Supra, 86, and future hydrogen combustion engines, it makes a pretty solid offer. Still, sadly two of those aren't "pure" Toyota, and if you have driven many cars in your life, you'll know that even the modern sports cars don't have the feel and the essence of the 90s/early 2000s.
I just like the Little Dark Age type of videos and I'm a nostalgic of the 90's Toyota.
Subscribe if you like, I'll do more in the future!

I've seen a few comments saying that Toyota are making good cars right now and don't deserve the "slander."
That's not what I'm saying at all.
Toyota is pretty much one of the last car companies that is exciting (who would have thought) and resisting against the EV-only agenda. It's probably my favourite car company as I grew up with them and own an MR2 Turbo. With the upcoming GR Corolla, GR Yaris, GR Supra, GR86, and future hydrogen combustion engines, it makes a pretty solid offer, Akio Toyoda is making good work. Still, sadly two of those aren't "pure" Toyota, and if you have driven many cars in your life, you'll know that even the best modern sports cars don't have the feel and the essence of the 90s/early 2000s cars.

Beautiful video, but like all the videos of Toyota's little dark age you always forget about the fantastic Hilux series. How come?
@@andreamazzalovo3614 Well it's simply more about the sports cars, I'm not into trucks really. But if I had to get one it would be a Tacoma/Hilux
Not only that, my father used to own many Toyota’s with the Celica Supra MK2, Celica Gt, MR2 MK1 and the legendary Levin, sadly my father never get to buy again the twin cam due to how ridiculous the price was. Even myself are driving mostly older cars like the 1988 BMW E30, I always like the feel how it was always connected on the road despite feeling abit floaty, even the Toyota KE30 from 1977, it feels comfortable and connected. With newer ones like Honda City 2013 and a BMW E39, it feels like it’s just a simple steer even though I could max out 160-170km/h out of a corner. Even a Mercedes W205 C43, I couldn’t feel basically the weight of the car
@@emwanemran5259 I find that electric power steering makes a car seem lighter than it is. But they don't give you as much feedback as an hydraulic or just no power steering. No powersteering definitely has the best feel!
I am also fan of mr2 but i want to know
What is that version 1:12

I reeeeally love the older Toyotas! But I must also admit I really like the new GR Yaris too.
The Celica Supra needs some love!
They are one of the few brands that are still producing actual driver's cars.
You mean bmw z4 coupé?
@@aluminium9826 not really, I mean the GR Corolla and the yaris and also you can't ignore their effort for hydrogen engine development
Touched my heart as a Toyota man
me too...
Toyota probably saw this video and was like:
"Aight, bet"
And went on their way to make the GR Corolla, GR86, Yaris and slap a Manual on the Supra, damn they somehow managed to make the Prius not look bad
1:11, I'm really glad you did the Toyota Sera justice!
Honestly, though the mk5 isn't a 'pure' Toyota, it's still not bad
it's very emotional to see all these cool cars from great brands to just fade away especially toyota
Toyota is probably the least of the offenders, except for maybe Dodge if you ignore the whole Fiat thing
hey man, dont worry, dont be sad. i always go by my saying:
dont be sad for what youve got or what youre going to get now, because in the future or some other day, you will miss that deeply just as much as what you have now.
I really want toyota to succeed at hydrogen cars
ae86 made me cry
that 4ag sound omg
I don't think last gen sup are that bad, they get her on fuel not elec but nice vid
I'm a purist, I would have preffered it to be "all Toyota" but at least now they're getting manual transmissions. And I'm a fan of a design, at least the rear end
its just a bmw with a body kit thats it if you wanted a manual just buy the bmw that comes with one since its the same car
@@lecoureurdesbois86 its never been only Toyota, the mk4 was also made with yamaha
@@663s Yamaha only made a complete engine for the 2000GT.
They made the head of the 1JZ, 3S, and 2ZZ engines.
They tuned and made the exhaust system for the 1LR-GUE of the LFA.
Those engines and cars (platforms) were still entirely designed and produced by Toyota, aside from the 2000GT.
@@lecoureurdesbois86 purists are missing the point. What's the deal in having the new Z all Nissan of the chassis capabilities where designed in the late 90s. Keep in mind the chasis is the same platform as the 350z, no quite the same chassis but the same platform. The chassis is a 370z btw.
What I am getting to is that there is a limit in performance you can squeeze without going to more power. In stock trim Zupra is faster in every metric, it is a Z4 at body but a Toyota in "heart", because you know coupe that no Z4 offers and suspension set up by Toyota.
Z is a good car but if you want all that "analog" feel you can always go 350/370z
Toyota hasnt completly gone astray, we got a new supra, the GT86 & GR Corolla/yaris. they arnt finished with making fun cars.
but also remember your history, the reason why we got alot of fun cars through the 80s and 90s was due to the economic prosperity in the 80s and 90s, people went from compact econo boxes in the 60s and 70s and once an economic upturn happend theres now a demographic with alot of disposable income and eager to ditch their old hatchback for something sporty.
looking at the way things now with rolling ressions and a depression on the rise, it makes sense why alot of sport oriented cars are being discontinued and we keep on getting alot of practical cars using the retired sport trim names. Ex mach Mustang, crossover lancer, the new Integra
if we make it out of this global ression there is fun to be had in the horizon
If we make out of this global recession there still won't be an internal combustion future to be had on the horizon
@@kevinlow69420 I still believe in ICE. There's way way less lithium in the world then petrol. And little of it can be reused. We will run out in a complete EV future. Especially when that same resource is used to make it's chargers.
Toyota/Subaru/Mazda/Hyundai are pushing hydrogen. Porsche are currently making synthetic gasoline.
I really love your take. I'm really tired of old heads telling me they had better cars and I should be happy with things like the mkv supra. Like mf, there's a 20 year difference between us 😭😭😭
@@despacheeto people forget that alot of what the car market is based on marketing. The reason why we long for the 90s cars is because stuff like the supra, ecu, nsx are advertisements. They want you to hear the name Toyota , think of how cool the supra is and then go buy a Camry. We still have lingering effects of mass marketing through technological Marvel's.
But look at what's happened now, they bring the supra back and we have a Gazoo Racing lineup with the 86 & corolla.
Just look at marketing. Try to tell me that a car that costs an upwards of 60k needs a 15k charger for at home that increases your electric bill by 200, that takes 5hrs to fully charge, that loses range in the cold. Will do in the market when hydrogen and synth gas will be more convient, 5 minute fill ups and has the old car feel.
Small brain EVs are for the sake of the environment
Big brain take: make them switch to inconvient lifeless EVs and then sell them ICE engines at a premium again
True
Good edit and all but cmon people need to stop hating on the mk5. Toyota saw room for improvement, they went for it. It's still an amazing car and you cant say otherwise. Yes, its not that legendary next to the mk4 but is any new car really gonna be good enough to beat those 90's jdm leghends? And plus toyota's still giving us cool cars with the new gr brand.
Beautiful video, but like all the videos of Toyota's little dark age you always forget about the fantastic Hilux series. How come?
i think it's pretty clear that these types of videos focus mostly on sports/performance cars aimed at tuners/enthusiasts. not pickup trucks.

It was a sad state until maybe a year or two. But with some of the GR stuff, Supra, 86's and the rumoured Celica/MR2 revivals theres the faintest of hopes Toyota are crossing back to the light side!
SMOKEY NAGATA!!
bygone era of life and emotions
The mr.2 and sera bit was kinda sad. The rest I think they made the right decisions as a business. Toyota’s still in the top threes of the wec standings though, so the gt-one spirit hadn’t died.
Toyota is the only company going against the EV band wagon
Germany recently said no to the EU ban against ICE, and Germany is an important player in the car industry...Many are starting to wake up, there's hope.

Toyota is still making great cars like the GR supra (manual transmission version)
GR Yaris GR86 and the Tacoma and the tundra has a trd version
Even though the Gold Era of Toyota is long gone ,there still a little bit of Hope , GAZOO RACING GR COROLLA!
Hell yeah!
Hydrogen fuel is the future as you can use the internal combustion engine.
And hydrogen is easy to get since you can make it from ocean water.
Finaly, someone who shares the same thought, everyone goes on about EVs, but never remember hydrogen, its kind of sad honestly.
Only thing is, toyota tried that with a corolla, and entered it into a 24hr race, but the car ran out of fuel too quickly for it to be viable even for economy cars, and not to mention you sacrifice practicality for the jumbo size h fuel tank
@@TA-70 it just takes more people using the technology for it to get refined.
But then again if one could figure out how to electrolysis inside the combustion chamber you could simply have water in the fuel tank.
My personal theory that I don't have time to test is that one could use the same principle of resonant frequency like when an opera singer breaks a cup with their voice to tear apart water.
Is it possible I don't know.
If it is possible all one would have to do is create some fancy spark plugs that make electricity vibrate at the resonant frequency of water.
But we are probably like 2 or 3 years of just testing and engineering away from that.
But in time the problems with hydrogen will be solved
Lets not forget the Hilux and Land Cruiser
On the plus side the old ones last just about forever so they aren't going away anytime soon

wait why are all the major car companies fazing out diesel and gasoline powered cars? Dont't cars only account for 10% of the worlds CO2 emissions?
Yes, but they are played out to be such a huge problem.
I think even less (at least in europe only 6% and if you take off trucks, trains and other stuff maube like 2%). We should faze out other stuff which is way worse like oil and coal powerplants. But I think another part of the problem is that car companies make a fortune now with EVs because they sell them as "enviromental friendly" (altough they really aren't) and more silent which the customer wants. And let me don't even start about SUV's... Ugly, bad fuel economy which is IMO worse for the enviroment and way too big for our roads...
lmfao everything fucks up the ozone layer.
@@Halibelle1 lol, where you been for the last 30 years? Ozone has nothing to do with emissions anymore

toyota as a company is really simillar to the simpsons. the simpsons was a popular, great, and beloved show in the 90s and (kind of) the 2000s. but now the simpsons isn't really as much as a good show as it was before. you can apply the same thing with toyota, and this video really shows the death of a once cool and rad thing, now biting the dust because it's just not relevant. i'll admit, i think toyota is in a much better state than the simpsons.
