T. Bag's Christmas Ding Dong (1990) - FULL EPISODE

- The third of the four T-Bag Christmas specials, originally broadcast on Wednesday, 26th December, 1990. T-Shirt decides to treat Tabatha to a night at the opera, but they run into her cousin Vanity Bag, and old rivalries are quickly rekindled. But, with the proper singer well and truly nobbled, which of the two will land the part of leading lady on the big night?
Children's television doesn't get much more classy than having the likes of Georgina Hale and Glenda Jackson sharing a stage (the latter actually gets top billing), and I love the fact that they're willing to make such fools of themselves. In a bit of a departure, we're treated to an all-singing, all-dancing performance as T-Shirt's opera is premiered - complete with brilliantly dreadful rhymes and general half-bakedness. At times it all feels a little like one of the plays what Ernie wrote, and that's no bad thing.
This is actually one of Glenda's last roles before her retirement from acting and subsequent political career. Megan Kelly, meanwhile, has only one other television appearance to her name, and that was in an episode of Spatz (from the same writers, of course). That said, I gather she's far more prolific in the theatre world. James Saxon clocked up four appearances in T-Bag down the years, and completed the Pressman-Cathro 'Big Three' by guesting in both Spatz and Mike and Angelo, too - he was a very familiar face on television in his time, even if he was never a household name. Completing the cast is Peter Woodthorpe, a distinguished actor whose IMDB entry goes back to the mid-50s and includes proper Shakespeare and everything. This is the first of his three T-Bag appearances. I'm sorry to say, though, that James and Peter are sadly no longer with us.
Many thanks to Grant for providing this recording.

...well...that sure is a title.
Did anyone notice the boober err I mean blooper at 2:46 the bubbles have clearly started to get lower than they should so a quick cut to T-Shirt before back to T-Bag now with bubbles firmly higher to avoid any embarrassment.
Well spotted - that's a definite edit, isn't it?
The opening titles theme tune is called “festive scenes” from the spectrum mood library half a minute volume 20 album.
Glenda Jackson must have needed some cash!
Haha - that's definitely what it looks like! But, actually, Glenda and Georgina Hale go way back, and she did it as a favour for her old friend.
No she just wanted to have a laugh with her mate Georgina,
This was a cute reunion for two of Ken Russell's lovely leading ladies ❤❤❤

Yes, it follows a slightly different blueprint compared to the other specials, but it's still enjoyable. It must have been fun for them to write something a little different!
