Lovin Billy's focus these days, he really seems to have knuckled down since the Nova build started. He seems a lot more relaxed and happier too, and that bit goes for the lot of y'all everybody seems to be in good spirits. Got the good mojo flowin in the shop again and its nice to see.
Got a suggestion for that generator out of the big trailer for you, might make it easier to get in and out. It looks like you have plenty of vertical clearance in the bay it fits in, why not build a sliding rack system for it. Could pull it out for service and repairs in place that way maybe. If not a slider maybe just add some 2 inch steel square stock at the ends to make it easier to slide the forks under it while still in the bay. Would at least eliminate the in and out struggle for ya some.

9” is good but a gn 8.5 would have been fine too. Been beating on mine for 20yrs. 1.45 60’ 5” of air under both tires on a 10.69@122 pass. Recently gave the Eaton posi to my son for his 8.5 gn rear.
@@fast73nova if your car also weighs 3,600 lbs then, .. that is impressive. The life span of any differential is dependent on the power/traction of a given combo vs. The weight of the load it's working to push. The Malibu is past the threshold of the 10 bolt with the power and traction it makes now.
@@Torquemonster440 my nova with me was 3515 with the original axles and a Eaton posi. Moser girdle. Calvert caltracs my et pro drag radials. Th350?8” 4500 converter.
Leaving off idle. So it probably flashed higher.

New ring and pinions get so freaking hot! Most people are not aware how much heat is generated from a new ring and pinion for the first 50 miles or so.

Sleep is the one thing i sacrifice the most when it comes to the cars. Not making any extra obligations in life, missing out on a lot in life would be the other.... but I've never seen it as missing out on anything, because these cars & racing is what I love most & am most passionate about.

The last time y'all had a problem with the generator I thought well if that was an ongoing problem I would build a slider rack for it and now that this is the second time within a couple months you have slider rack might be a good idea to start planning on I do know some companies make them but Uncle bucko would probably give you crap about that and tell you it was cheap but I had one built into the front of my trailer when I bought it and it was a lifesaver

I love watching how excited you get racing the Malibu, keep going strong you're an inspiration to us older guys. Really like your videos on carburetors and tuning them, would be nice if you did a more in depth video of tuning a gas carb. For a foot break or sportsman class.

As an Oldsmobile guy I'd sure like to find a clean G body cutlass in that condition, or even a low optioned Delta 88! Of course it would get a 550hp hopped up 455 with parts I have on hand. I'd probably have to go cheaper and run a TH400 with maybe a year vendors later. The axle in the Malibu is getting there but at this point probably should have done a full on 8.5 10bolt, or of course a 12 bolt, or even a 9in with all the money spent. Either way the project has brought you Tons of fun! Well worth the effort!

I feel your pain. We also have a green pile of S with onan written on it in our trailer. It's also currently out of its demon cave of a hole. Im really considering other options at this point.
