I definitely love this that the old system was kept into a newer system.

So the schools has Simplex GX-90s, Wheelock 34Ts on strobe plates, a Wheelock ZNS (or NS or Exceeder), Honeywell 4040s, Honeywell 4030s and a Honeywell 4050?

I’m planning on upgrading my system to a brand new addressable system. All new stuff. Soon

System is very cool but might be due for an upgrade to newer hardware to make operation and maintenance easier.

      This system is grandfathered

    • @achannelwithnopurpose1977

@@STR2K6 I know it is grandfathered. However, from a big picture standpoint, the system is held together with duct tape and glue (figuratively speaking) and for quality of life, needs to be upgraded to make work easier for both the client and inspection company. Plus, some components are failing that can no longer be replaced with a legacy or OEM part, because the manufacturer has discontinued the product long ago. I think a Simplex 4100ES or Notifier nfs2-640 with DVC might do the trick. Although, considering there is already preexisting Simplex (including new pulls), I would probably retrofit a 4100ES, some new addressable smoke detectors, some new A/V appliances, and zone cards/modules for the existing brand new pulls that are in my opinion too new to replace.

@@FourtyFiftyEighty I noticed the pulls (although conventional) were still pretty new. If they get ripped off the wall, can I potentially get a few of em for my 4100U system. My county didnt give me many pulls (only 5 in total) when they gave me my 4100U. I can easily order IAMs for the pulls instead of having to get new pulls (it would be cheaper for me).

Did you power it back down when you were done testing it? I’ve seen so many of these scabbed together systems in schools. I wish alarm companies and school administration had some scruples.

4:03 - now that would be the fire alarm I'd want in schools. Now too "buzz-a-licious" to scare the bejeebers out of anyone. The ones today are so loud, even the deaf can hear it.
