Once you use a good kitchen knife it’s hard to go back👌🏻
So true. So true!
I have ale loved the idea of kitchen knives made survival knife companies! The designs are already perfect, they just need to built more robust.
I like this little dicer and think Tops should beef it up and make a bushdicer version. The thumb scallops actually would transfer over to carving / bushcraft very easily.
Honestly my wife could use that thing as a neck knife when camping plus the black and blue micarta looks so awesome.
So at 180 is what iv found the larger knife at the lowest price point is about the mid range price point for a solid kitchen knife. As a chef iv bought knives at 2 dollars for a beater of a knife and iv spent upwards of 400 for a 12 inch wustoff heavy chef knife I own about 65 kitchen knives varying in brands and steel but never have I run across a s35vn steel for a kitchen knife. I’m pulling the trigger on the 8 inch tomorrow and in the coming weeks I’ll give it it’s paces. I recently bought a tops frog market special for kitchen use and edc and I absolutely am in love with it.
Ok now your channel is REALLY ROCKIN!! I love to cook and I love tactical gear and you put them together.....😊👍 This channel gets better and better each day Tim. I want to see some recipes next to go with these knives....😂😂
Ha - I wish I was good enough as a cook to offer ideas.
Really like these... especially the smaller one
This looks awesome! I’m a chef and I’ve been looking for a knife to carry on my belt and S35 steel to boot!! Can’t wait til their released!
I will be definitely be getting a set. Thanks for your review
Boogieman007EDC Outdoors glad to help
Awesome!
Really cool kitchen knives I have the Tops small Frog Market Speacial for food prep in the woods great little slicey blade lightweight coated 1095. Not as capable as your bigger knife and s35vn outperforms 1095 but it’s still a great woods kitchen knife and comes in a large version as well and is sold in a set or separate.
I use Tops small Frog Market knife. It's a real good slicer and the tip allows for easy de boning.
What oil do you use, for the the blade? Food friendly
@@jozy5154 Olive oil. Just a small amount after use.
The dicer 3 looks like a cool EDC maybe
I would rather invest in a set like that than Wustof and I love me some wustof... hopefully tops will make a complete line. Off to to the website to learn more.
The Dicer 3 is stunning. A bit pricey, but I think it can also work very well as a small game hunting blade.
Agreed - I think it would be a nice small knife for out in the field.
Oh jeez the dicer 3 looks awesome
i want to EDC the dicer 3 cross draw
Me 2
Nice!
Awesome
How's the knife holding up? if you still have them. I find that the coating is prone to rusting. But other than that it's been great
Thinking about carrying that smaller one. I need a thin knife more often than not.
Nice - I can see the smaller one being a solid knife in the woods. Let me know how it works out.
I'll be adding a Dicer 8 to the kitchen wall soon
great video! I subscribed.
Welcome aboard David. Though I hope you aren't expecting a lot of cooking insight from me :)
Great review they look awesome if you looking for other kitchen knife to review that are made by people who make knives check out the Victorinox kitchen knives I'm a butcher by trade and I use them all the time the bang for the buck they're incredible
I like to cook and I like knives. I have knives set from Zwilling J.A. Henckels Pro, Wusthof Ikon Blackwood and Victorinox for the kitchen. I love Tops knives, so I will probably buy these and if I like them, buy the set when they
come out.
They need to come out with a 5-5.5" meat knife.
Nice knives ! And man you waste a lot of strawberry! 😂
Kelly Garrison I just eat the whole thing.
Thanks for the great review. Been eye-balling the Dicer 8 pretty hard, this helps get me to pull the trigger. Look forward to seeing your take on the Frog Market Specials as well.
Chad Crow I hope to check those out sometime too.
Great review! I am Just thinking the profile of the chef knife is not that common. Any time you Feel that you have to special position you cutting hand?
Thanks for watching. I don't find anything super unique about the hand grip - pretty standard for me compared to my other kitchen knives.
What kind of oil do you use, for the knife?
I have just been wiping them down well - no oil at this point.
👍👍
You would be your wife's Prep Cook, not Sous Chef.. huge difference there. Sous Chef runs the line in a restaurant. The sheaths are wonderful for transporting the knives to work and back.
As a knife guy, retired firefighter who retrained in culinary ten years ago, I think that I'm going to pick up the pair even though I'm not in a professional kitchen any longer.
That’s helpful. You learn something new every day
@@EverydayTacticalVids Well, you teach me stuff all the time so I might as well be useful once and a while. lol I was just thinking these are the perfect RV pair with those sheaths. throw them in a drawer or storage box.
pinkiewerewolf well I thank you.
@Tim hope you are doing well , tempting to buy however they should still make the 3.5 in an additional option of a second Dicer 3.5 in a full 1/8 inches , if i was not short on cash i would still buy both and if they had the Dicer 3.5 in a full 1/8 inches spine right to the tip i would buy it even if i am broke , all the best to you Tim
SORRY DICER 3 NOT 3.5
You should baton with them. It would be hilarious.
Lol ! you savage ;-)
People would lose their minds...
Hrc on them?
Can you do more on kitchen knifes?
I might but it's not my area of expertise so I can't offer too much insight at this point.
Cool knives but honestly VERY hard to justify for practical use... Mercer or Victorinox make sub $20 models that are standard workhorse for most restaurants.
Can you chop bones with them.. like ribs?? chicken thighs??
Strawberry waster!
The most money I've dropped for a single knife is the APO 1 at around $130. I can't see myself spending more on just a kitchen knife.
An expensive kitchen knife but i buy expensive survival knives and combat knives and would use the expensive kitchen knives more often. I plan on buying the bigger of the two for my wife.
Daxm15e2s very cool. Let me know what you think of it once you get one.
The Dicer 3 should have been the dicer 5. I have the 8 but like longer paring knives.
I would never pay that much for kitchen knives
2:47 black cannabis micarta lol
No way I would spend that kind of money on a kitchen. If I was a professional chef then I would consider them tools and necessary, but I can't justify that price range for just cooking for family and friends.
Fail. Why couldn't you try to use them for other camp activities? The blade steel is good enough. I'd EDC the dicer 3. Looks similar to the Bradford Guardian.
When it comes to sheaths tops you should do better!!! Its just sad what you do for some over your other knives!!! : (
Tops knives with a CRKT hat?
Yeah - I gotta say one cool thing about the knife industry is that the vast majority I know are friendly with one another.
Interesting... knife reviewer who does not know "three finger" dicing technique. Not to worry, you are not the only one. I find it really, really strange though.
I can do much better at a way lower price.
