Time for Chaos is such a special series, I can't wait for this episode! There's probably time to reread some Lovecraft ghoul stories before the premiere...
I haven’t read any in decades but I remember liking the Dream Quest of the Unknown Kadath.
I think the 21st century has fried my attention span to the point where I can no longer tolerate Lovecraft’s writing style tho.
@@politicaltroll8920You might have better luck with an audio book. The YT channel Horrorbabble has really solid readings of all of Lovecraft’s stuff, as well as a lot of other gothic and Weird Tales-era weird fiction. I listen to them at night while winding down, good stuff.
Audio books are good, when i’m feeling burnt out and don’t want to read something ponderous. Horrorbabble has great readings of HPL’s original writings, as well as other gothic and pulp-era weird fiction. British narrator, good voice.

There is nothing funnier than watching Rob try not to absolutely break every single time Troy says 'taint'.
That is basic immaturity and a want of respectability and deportment. We got a lot of words in our vocabulary today that even as early as 10 years ago had no connotation compared to what they are used for today by the diversely perverse and juvenile lacking discipline and a sense of impropriety. It really really spoils the 1920s and 30s flavor of this game and these stories most of the dialogues when somebody pulls a modern vernacular, swear word or stinking woke ideology into the realm of caucus and Luke. It's like stirring vinegar into your vanilla cake mix.

Bravo, GCN. Absolutely dynamite episode this week. That can be a redundant thing to say at times, but this one's got some serious tension to go along with the normal laughs and general creepiness. Troy & the Mystery Squad have a really special thing going, that's for sure.

If you use the shotgun at point blank range you do 4d6 damage but they can fight back and if they win they take no damage and the player takes damage instead
I think no, against firearms there is no option to fight back. The opponent could try to disarm the attacker in their round (as a maneuver). The only option is to try to jump to cover (requires a successfull Dodge and then the loss of next action/turn and of course an object as cover)
Holy shit Troy i just finished episode 299 of GCP pfgs, and I'm dead ass out of breathe by the Renthal "GOD" improve you did there. The entire crew was gasping along with me laughing our asses off, truly amazing work there my friend! It hit even harder as you remembered the previous dialogue to fall back on. I need a one shot about Renthal "GOD" goes to the diner with the cast and crew playing people in the diner. Waiter, cook, owner, customers. Omg it would be amazing.
This castle has the same cell designers as the Cyrodiil Imperial Prison.

Meanwhile, in Tartaria HQ, the Supreme Leader and Architect shuts off a monitor and turns sadly to a flunky: "Drat. Lavallee has found out. Sigh. I had so hoped to see the end of this series. Ah , well. Nothing for it. Send in the clean-up team."
In the written adventure, the vicar didn't understand GREEK. It would be very unlikely for an old vicar in the 1920s to not have a decent grasp of Latin. I appreciate that Troy had to act on the moment and mixed that up. He also gave a lot of info with the vicar's journal that is actually in the book in the Vane's house. Again, an easy mistake for a Keeper running this massive campaign to make, especially since this portion is probably one of the weaker written sections of the campaign that requires more heavy lifting on the storyteller side.

Shotgun faq (mash-up of CoC and real life): A double-barreled shotgun has (usually) 2 triggers, hence no penalty when you pull them both at the same time (because the recoil that would pull you briefly off target and force you to reacquire the target isn't there). The range on the sawed-off is so short because the burning powder that propels the shot does not have space to fully burn, generating its maximum momentum. The shot spread within the distances under consideration here is not much. Within 5 yards you're looking at a fist-sized spread, which does amazing trauma to whoever or whatever is hit by it.
Edge of my seat this episode…REALLY awkward since I was driving! Bravo GCN! Can’t wait for chance to see this crew at LA in October!

I do love the music for this thing. So Eagles Grange.. say one of those kids Was Bitten right? Got to go back and listen again sometimes I have to pick through these things slowly through the week. It just depends on how my schedule is going. I am having fun. Even though I've run this a few times, when the soft back compilation was released in the mid 80s, again in the late '80s and 90s, running my home group through it the second for the second time. We didn't finish it the first time. And as seventh edition in Pulp mode. It's interesting to see how things change each time. But Troy and the gang have created something new and fresh. Well so it's not so fresh LOL it's new. But it's rank LOL I'm wondering if you'll spend all of season 2 in London. And I wonder where this group will choose to go after London?

Catching up, but excellent episode. I love this show so much. I’ve been dreaming of running this campaign myself since last season inspired me to buy this box set. Currently running some one-offs and hopefully the players will love CoC as much as I do and will want to do an extended campaign.
I finally caught up, yeay! And respect to them surviving again! (if they get patched up) But makes me wonder which characters will do the same for the England finale.
Also: just checked and they should only get a sanity loss for this adventure sadly. that might be an extra shock. but hey we live for the sweet drama.
These series continues to amaze every week. The roleplay, cinematic tension and action were the best yet!! All hail the Mystery Squad!!!

It’s based on 19th Century ancient Aryan theory, the idea that white men from Atlantis founded all the ancient civilizations. It’s fundamentally based on colonialism and racism. I know this isn’t related to this episode, but have we found out anything about the contents of Doyle’s letter? I think he’s said it’s a poem, but I don’t recall any other details
I've been bingewatching this entire series over the course of a few days, and when they were doing character creation Ross said the poem mentions escaping the trenches in dreams and going to Carcosa. They were tossing around a lot of ideas so i don't know if that one stuck around to be "canon" but it is something.
Also does The King in Yellow (as in the book by Robert W. Chambers) exist in the Call of Cthulhu universe? I remember hearing Carcosa in the character creation video and thinking "yeah, written in 1895, totally possible a WWI soldier would reference it" but then i remembered the King in Yellow was kind of adopted into the Cthulhu Mythos as it started building outside of Lovecraft and it dawned on me that "Carcosa" being mentioned might have cosmic horror implications in-universe.
Not to be a heel but halfway through season two and I'm really waiting on bated breath for a PC death here lol..

If you go to Europe and look at the great gothic cathedrals you will find half of them were not build 400 years ago, but in 1946 because the original was bombed flat in WW 2. So yes we can build the old buildings, but we unfortunately have moved into the architectural style called “brutalism”.

This really would make it just an independent scenario you could just pluck it out of the campaign in running an independent scenario. Running now with the tip this time I determined to avoid all the sidetracked scenarios if possible this one got added in as a driver escaping everyone else who is unconscious after a fight with zombies and playing across the Moors ended up pulling in the next morning to lesterdale seeing new newspaper articles the missing people and a wild dog killed but the moon came and went and they discovered that they were urgently needed elsewhere and hurried back to London where they found that their rooms had been sacked and the cultists were on their Trail and they fled from England along the simple and root of the Orient Express crossing over the Mediterranean Sea into the land of the Pharaohs the land of the pyramids, Egypt at last Cairo
