    VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
Since the past 5 years, India has been trying very hard to compete with the Chinese economy! And whenever we speak about competing with China, the Indian media houses talk about how the chinese population is sinking and our population is booming!! How their population is aging and our population is young and strong!! And every other media house is selling us a dream that India will surpass the chinese economy in the next few decades!!
But you know what guys, one of the most important metrics that China has mastered and India severely lacks is the logistical superpower of the country!! And I am sorry to say this but the Indian logistics system is disastorously broken!!
One major example is freight trains - they carry large amounts of goods across the country, and are essentially the lifeline of Indian trade. The average speed of these freight trains in India is just 25 kmphr!! Thats slower than your activa! And this points towards a very very critical problem which will stifle India’s growth in the next 3 decades!!
To solve this problem, India is building something called the Dedicated freight corridors!!
In this case study, lets dig deep deep and understand
Why is the Indian freight train system so messed up?
How is this hampering the growth of our country?
What is India doing to fix this problem?
And most importantly as students of business, what are the study materials to help you understand this logistical night mare of India??

Chinese people often criticize the party, government and leaders. However, public calls on television to overthrow the party, government or leaders are not allowed. Before making decisions, the Chinese government will listen to the opinions of the people through surveys. Before implementing major policies, they will be implemented on a small scale. If the policies are found to be deficient, they will be revised. This is the real Chinese government and Chinese society. This is the secret of China’s rapid development. Neither the Western media nor the Indian media will tell you.

As a Canadian who has been living in China for the past 20 years, I must admit that China's infrastructural growth is unbelievable. I can attest that changes in China happen almost on a daily basis. China can build a bridge in a week, manufacturing factories and sea or mountain tunnels in a month. But don't give up India, if there is a will, there is a way.

Yes but first sort out a few things first . Top on the list corruption which is now endemic it's like a giant octopus clinging on and eating India alive, secondly sort out the infrastructure it's like a body with severe cardio issues never know when it going to cause a massive coronary, thirdly it the religious and gender inequalities where the Muslims and the female are being pushed aside neglected, then comes political system where it's rotten to the core. When there's a lack of directions in the leadership in the country it's always archaic laws and rules to benefit their donors and sponsors in the policies. Then comes the colonial baggage and the worship of the whites mentality which stems from the lack of self esteem and insecurities . Finally it's the education system in India anyone with money can open up a school any time anywhere . I know of a few started a technical institute not to educate the masses but to procure young students for theirs and their gang's carnal desires. The rest is history.

Once on a business trip to Mumbai, the so-called "Shanghai of India", when I saw cars, pedestrians and cows racing to seize the road on Mumbai's main road, when I saw luxury hotels and sheet metal houses on the roadside, a strong sense of disorder, backwardness and wealth gap swamped over me. Despite this, Indians, including their politicians, had an uncanny confidence that their country is growing fast and can soon overtake the world powers. As a humble and stoic Chinese, I find this Indian way of thinking particularly dangerous. It is easy to blind them to the gap between India and the world, and the huge problems rooted in their society, including infrastructure, public health, women's rights, and even business credit. Students who have received good education in science and engineering have fled to Europe and the United States to study and no longer return to their home countries to build their country. The problem with our democratic system is that we have to choose a relatively less corrupt politician from a pool of corrupt politicians. Often, we cast our votes based on religion, caste, and community. We may call ourselves nationalists and claim to be willing to die for our nation, yet when it comes to our religion or caste, the nation often takes a back seat. A nation will progress when every individual living within its borders excels. The country's development is inevitable when the development of its individuals is ensured.

Finally, someone has the courage to speak the truth about India’s world economic standing. Modi and Indian media have been on overdrive trying to convince people that India’s economy has been growing faster than China’s in the past few quarters and is poised to surpass China’s in the next couple of decades. Dream on. Despite the faster growth rate, the gap between the two economies continues to widen. Unless the gap narrows, there is not a hope in hell for India to catch up, never mind surpassing China.

well,i am a Chinese,i think your video is very good on accountant examples.
China and india are so different.i think China has several advantages.first.the authoritarian government, which might be prompt in acting a infrastructural intention, and less geographic obstacles within the country, and less local power to interfer the unified market,
India is basically on the opposite, the Western part of China is of high altitude and it did hinder the China's economy and it was solved recently by railway and highway constructions but the Eastern part is of low altitude relatively to be improved at the very beginning and it is vast enough, while india is covered by plateau in Central territories the connection among the surrounding coastal areas is weak and the transportation cost is tremendous ,and since as such geographic reason, there are so many differences in religion and culture among indian states,in certain specific issues, the agreements are harder to reach.i remember i used to read an article about indian merchant taxes,it seemed that when goods are passing different states, they needed to be charged different taxes of each states,i don't know if it still like this, but in China that is never be the case for recent seventy years.
in addition to that,i want to point out almost every developed country growed at its full speed period in Authoritarianism(especially in economic fields which characterized with planned economy and socialism).
today we might call some countries democratic countries, but when it's developed most,it didn't complete the Democratic transformation, such as Taiwan and South Korea ,Japan, and Singapore.
As for the precedent,Germany before and after WWII is same, the British and USA,the authoritarian was mainly toward outside market,
so as far as I'm concerned, countries like India, didn't go through this procedure and went directly into democracy might be a disadvantage.
and I've heard a heresay about due to religious reasons some indian people don't value punctuality such as reincarnation,i think if the tendency exists it can be overcomed, actually Indian people are very hardworking people.
above is from my point of view,I don't know if it's accurate or on how much extent it is in accordance, but i do hope indian economy will overcome the barriers to gain its tallying status.

Hey Think school team, though the stats have been covered dynamically. Few changes are to be made, i.e the Vijayawada port, there is nothing such as Vijayawada port. The nearest port would be Machillipatnam port which is still not developed or only used as a fishing habour. So the other major port near Vijayawada lies the Krishnapatnam port. The DFC is designed in such a way that the major industry belt is connected to nearest ports, i.e. Visakhapatnam port, Paradeep port, Krishnapatnam port, Tuticorin port, Murmogao port, JNPT port. As china had the strategy to use elevated tracks for passenger travel convection. Some part of our country should be using elevated tracks to tackle the challenges we face currently. Very good example being Delhi Meerut RRTS. As our new Vandhe Bharat trains are very capable to run at 180+ kms. We have routed the passenger, express, superfast mails, premium trains all services using the same tracks which is again the massive reason for congestion. DO I SEE THE END TO CONGESTION, NO! Do I see any ease to regulate congestion ? Yes. DFC is the answer. The Railways needs a better overhauling of load carriers. The high speed corridor if connected in 2035 to all major cities can be a game changer. But the caste politics will create a barrier amongst elitist and middlemen and beyond. This is deep routed problem where we as a nation cannot just depend on stats to fulfil our requirements. The conjugation of roadways and railways should go hand in hand like we have it in the Konkan railways, truck over train facilities. Though we have WAG12 with a good hauling capacity, the load carrier needs better transition. The python express was a success and could be run in a priority module wherein a port within 8hrs of destination can be delivered in a single go. The interference involving many modes of transport consumes time. Rest as a nation we will achieve our goals, soon!

    1. Railway Infrastructure takes 10-12 years to complete. Road/Air infrastructure development has a shorter cycle.
    2. Apart from DFC, other railway lines which have been doubled/tripled would also play a significant role in improving travel time.
    3. IR has been working to increase the speed of the majority of railway line to 110kmph while Diamond Quadrilateral are been increased to 130 kmph.

We learn how to design planes, how to construct paved roads, how to build cars or run the latest nuclear submarines, and in the midst of all this technology we forget that we are human beings - which means that we are filling our hearts with the things of the mind.
Our lives are very empty now, are they not? You may have a college degree, you may get married and be well off, you may be very clever, have a great deal of information, know the latest books; but as long as you fill your heart with the things of the mind, your life is bound to be empty, ugly, and it will have very little meaning. There is beauty and meaning in life only when the heart is cleansed of the things of the mind." - J Krishnamurti

I hope things will change faster for the better

The over reliance on road is simply a response to the enourmous expansion of road network under Vajpayee and then under Modi. If UPA -I II had kept the pace in 2004 to 2014 we would be in a much better place today.

P orts in China nowadays rely less on human, container shipment is operated by AI. Other industries do the same, no need big human power.

one correction, china to europe train shipping, avg speed is 30km per hour.
purely train shipping speed is >100km/h, max 188 km/h in china territory. while including custom clearance and cargo exchange on rail, around 3 days, with transportation taking 11-13 days, the avg speed becomes 30km/h.

Very insightful but non biased and honest view.
China’s transportation rivals even countries in the west.
India’s competitors perhaps should be Indonesia or maybe Thailand?
China government ensures that citizens have affordable transportation and anything that can be improved, should and will be improved.
They used to have a lot of corruptions but now much lesser. There is no shame in learning from others to improve citizen’s live and economy.
