      Houston no Texas, e resolvi ligar pra operadora pra extender por 48h a locação. Eles simplesmente falaram que não seria possível. Basicamente depois eu descobri o que aconteceu: 1 dia depois de eu retornar o carro em Vegas, iniciava uma conferência de tecnologia. Basicamente o que a locadora fez: alugou o carro que eu estava usando, contando que eu iria devolver o veículo. E como é conferência, as vezes acontece de acabar o inventario (eles literalmente alugam todos os carros que tem). Eu fiquei puto com a situação, em vez de fazer a viagem de volta pra Vegas calmamente, como eu queria, foi bem no rush, e com noite mal dormida. Devolvi com 4h de atraso, mas quando cheguei lá, até falei, não com essas palavras, mas mais ou menos “Olha, eu tentei entregar no horário certo. Mas eu tava em Houston quando fui informado que nao poderia extender o rental. Me atrasei pq precisei dormir. Melhor o carro aqui com 4h de atraso, do que eu e o carro mortos”. O cara da locadora riu, e obviamente não cobrou pelo atraso. Mas isso ocorre em qualquer lugar, infelizmente, não só Brasil.

      Nos EUA eles são abusivos, empurram descaradamente seguros extra falando que são obrigatórios por lei sendo que não são.
      Infelizmente o tem burocracias em diversas empresas que conseguem ser mais absurdas até que o governo...

    • @Antoniocastagnoli
      @Antoniocastagnoli Před rokem +5

      @@renatogbarroso assim, eu moro aqui nos EUA, e quando você aluga um carro, ter um seguro de terceiros é obrigatório. O que não é obrigatório é o seguro que cobre você mesmo. Voltando: o de terceiros é obrigatório. Porém, se você mora nos Estados Unidos, e você tem um carro, mas decide alugar um veículo, você pode usar o seguro do teu veículo (que na verdade cobre mais você) pra cobrir terceiros. Se você é estrangeiro, muito provavelmente você vai ter que pagar uma taxa de seguro contra terceiros. Isso é fato. E esse seguro acaba bem alto se você é menor de 25 anos de idade. Agora, o seguro contra danos ao próprio carro, sem envolver terceiros, muitas vezes eles tentam enfiar mesmo, e você pode negar. E eles tentam enfiar principalmente em estrangeiro. Digamos que o estrangeiro pegue um carro, e devolva todo arranhado. O máximo que a locadora de veículos pode fazer é tentar cobrar parte do dano no cartão de crédito da pessoa. Porém, se a pessoa devolve o carro e imediatamente cancela o cartão, a locadora nunca vai ver a cara do dinheiro pelos danos. Pra residentes daqui dos EUA, como eu, eles já pegam mais leve na venda desse seguro opcional, pq eles sabem que podem correr atrás de mim caso eu devolva o veículo danificado.

    • @Antoniocastagnoli
      @Antoniocastagnoli Před rokem +1

      @@renatogbarroso próxima viagem que vier pra cá, lembre-se: vai ter sim uma taxa extra na diária pro seguro de terceiros (e você não tira o carro sem ter), e vão tentar te enfiar um seguro contra danos. Esse você nega se quiser. Daí, caso você danifique o carro, vai da sua consciência pagar ou não. Eu sempre recomendo não pegar esse seguro de danos pq eles cobram uma fortuna (10/15$ por dia) e geram medo nas pessoas. Pequenos arranhões eles não ligam. A chance disso ocorrer é baixa a ponto de não valer o custo.

    I am sorry guys, I remember you had trouble with the car rental in the first place, needing someone to help you in Portuguese to extend etc. It was good in the end that the person at the Natal office spoke good english, he was able to clarify things which enabled you to make the best decision for you financially, rather than maybe having a surprise fee at drop-off in Salvador which would have been much worse.
    As Ivana said, maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. Maybe something else would have happened in Recife or somewhere else in the original plan, you’ll never know. Sometimes things like this that look painful might just be saving us from something worse.

The company with the yellow logo put me on a 15 minute waiting line in western Washington at a small airport to replace it at the counter of the same company. Luckily, I was able to replace the car without any other fee. Or being bitten by 6 spiders in southern California, before heading to NYC, some 10,000 kms away from home. Having almost a sepsis in NYC in the subway and then schlepping myself through JFK. It is soooo challenging to be abroad. I did not expect all of this. But expect the unexpected. I encountered a lot of situations like those in Canada for a year. Like sitting for hours in a MiWay Bus and subway car to get to a driving test centre to get told that I need a paper from the German embassy. It happens.

    Yes, renting a car in Brazil can be quite the experience, too many options in terms of contract type and insurance levels makes it very hard to navigate even if you know the language.
    I have mainly used Localiza and Unidas in Brazil myself, the service has been good but the terms are typically confusing.
    Alugar um carro no Brasil pode ser um pouco difícil, demasiadas opções em termos de tipo de contrato e níveis de seguro o tornam muito difícil.
    Eu mesmo utilizo principalmente Localiza e Unidas no Brasil, o serviço é bom, mas os termos são tipicamente confusos.

    • @domusbr
      @domusbr Před rokem +1

      Sim, pode ser mais confuso ainda se o veículo pertence a unidade franqueada, e cada região pode ter um termo de condições específicas, portanto se o plano for viajar longas distâncias entre Estados, prefira sempre alugar no aeroporto, pq geralmente essas filiais são pertencentes do mesmo grupo. Filial que for retirado o veículo também deve explicar e deixar muito bem claro as condições do aluguel.

      We wanted to return the car in the same city we rented it from (Salvador). And planned to make some stops along the way back south. But when we wanted to extend the rental, we were in Natal. So they count that as renting/returning from another city just for doing the paperwork. This was not explained to us when we picked up the car. They made it sound very easy to extend. They said all we need to do is call. It was not the case.

    • @domusbr
      @domusbr Před rokem

      @@JetLagWarriors hmm interesting, if you intended to return the car at the same place whereyou picked up, it seems to me that it was an operational mistake by the branch. at least in our case when there are situations similar to yours, we authorize the extension of the rent upon approval of the quoted amount based on normal days rate, if the customer agrees to charge it directly to the card and the matter is resolved throughthe phone or email. It seems to me that it was a serious mistake in the movidas customer service. In some cases we usually ask remote branches just to inspect the vehicle, as its a condition that insurers impose on rental companies to document as much as possible, I don't know the T&C of the movida, only my Australian competitors and they all operate very similarly in the way I said, . I'm sorry that this couldn't have been resolved in the best way, try to report your case to the movidas HQ ombudsman department, I'm sure they will be able to recognize the mistake and try to somehow compensate for the inconvenience and damage caused to your trip.

    • @kronop8884
      @kronop8884 Před rokem

      @@JetLagWarriors I guess they couldn't imagine someone renting a car for such a long period of time or just misunderstood you due to some language mixup because you managed to extend once, right?
      But no more than 4 weeks in total.
      When I initially moved to Brazil I rented a car for a couple of months before I could get my car leasing contract going and we had to rent through a company to be able to keep the car for more than a month, so it might be a thing, who knows.

    This is exactly why I don’t believe anything a sales agent says unless I can see it in writing. We had a problem here in Canada last year when we got those reusable plastic moving boxes from the storage company. My husband was told that we could rent the boxes or we could buy them and sell them back to the company after. My husband bought the boxes and, of course, when he tried to sell them back they said that they didn’t do that, the employee was mistaken etc. We still have a pile of containers that we are slowly selling to friends and family. Anyhow - don’t trust anything that isn’t in writing somewhere that you can check. And don’t use Dymon storage, they try to charge you even after you already emptied your unit and ended your contract 😅

    I mean one tip (for anywhere in the World), there are two types of car rental formats, the Short Term (that can go from anywhere between 14 to 28 days, depending on local laws and companies policy) and long term car rental for when you need the car for longer than 30 or 60 days. I usually use Hertz anywhere in the World I go, because they have a similar policy global beside local legislation and stuff it's a big corp but still they usually have the best customer service for situations like that, for example switching a short term rental contract to a long term one, or better policy for different city drop-offs.
