Usually I see the self watering pots with a double wick. I think to keep it from pulling or falling out.

That plant looks just like my miniature amigris. Same veiny leaves.
This DIY wick and grow system works wonders. I left my plants on it when I went on a 2 week vacation and they're all fine! I not only use it for propagations but for all my plants just to be prepared for whenever I leave!

I have almost all of my alocasia's in LECA and they love it. I also have my Monstera albo in LECA and I'm working on moving all my syngoniums into LECA. I'm trying to get all my water lovers into LECA or Pon.

Excellent tips for alocasias. They do noooot repot well. Seriously, when you order them, wait a week at least before you repot them.
I’d say if you see them declining, cut them back completely and then treat them like they’re in dormancy.

I respect your decision to use the self-watering potting method when that is not a typical go-to strategy for you as It shows flexibility and planning, both good traits. I also respect how you like young plants; I’m the same way because I like to see the early new growth and I believe that young plants are easier to acclimate and establish. Thanks much.

I've had a Peace Lily & a Calathea I bought at Lowe's in the wick and grow pots & they have done wonderfully in them. I also have a violet & a spider plant in self watering pots. Seems to work well with plants that like a lot of water. Love your little DIY tutorial. Self watering pots seem to be so pricey! Thanks for this video.

Some of my plants that I had a hard time with in semi hydro are using the wick system. I have some plants that I could never get the watering down are doing so well now using a wick.
She wasn’t trying to eat the shears. She was handing them to mama. She knows 😍😂

O no Melissa please don’t take your plant out of the water. I have 4 different plants that I got from Home Depot 2 years ago and they are are doing great and they grow year round.
