@@bananabiscut5174 It’s been several months, hopefully you have found some tutorials to get you going a little more on those modes. And maybe you even got down those licks he showed for each. A little advance, but it’s been 10 months, and if you practice a lot, you are probably already getting pretty good.
Memorizing the modes, and their exercises, will get you up to shredding speed.
One of my old favorites, that is still relatively beginner/intermediate is the, “up in fours.”
Let’s say, Aeolian, in A minor, starting with your first finger on the low E fifth fret (A). Play the first four notes of the mode, then go back and start from the second note, and go up four from there, then back starting on the third note (first finger should be on the 8th fret now), and so on. Then do it descending, starting with your pinky on the 10th fret, high E, as shown here. 😎🎸👍🏻

I like Aeolian and Dorian. But my main go to set of scales are the 5 minor pentatonic modes. It's the blues scale mainly, but it works for metal, and it is what I have memorized the most. There is a 3 note per string version, and it becomes a major pentatonic scale by dropping the entire scale down the neck 3 frets. I like to mix the minor and major version of the pentatonic during jamming, even in the same song. Slide in a couple of ghost notes here and there that are not part of the scale, but make it sound more unique and not so scale-ish, and wallah, an easy rippin solo!

Yore tutorials are so educational AND entertaining at the same time ! I took music theory in college in late 80’s. Had a hard time understanding and making sense of it all, but kept the textbooks for future use and still have them to this day. I was a percussion major without much experience at all with keyboard or scales. My brother has been dabbling with guitar for a while now, but his background in theory is much more limited than mine, I’ve tried explains the things I DID absorb in college with limited success, but I’m going to turn him on to your videos, because they will do what I’ve been trying to explain to him, plus he and I LOVE SLAYER! 🤟😜🤟! Think he’ll get a kick out of your videos and learn at the same time. Plus these bring back such great memories of college. Wish I would have dove into theory more seriously but in late 80s my thinking was “I just have to be seen by the right people and I’ll be on MTV “ next year”.
MTV, what the hell’s that?!? Smh... but that another story.
Anyway I love watching you’re videos, even though I’m just a metal drummer from way back , and I look forward to watching them every weekend and now NOW subscribed! Keep on cranking them out, so I can keep enjoying, and “ROCK ON”! 🤟🤟

Another interesting one to use is whole tone scale. It's more common in jazz, but some of those augmented chords and intervals sound nightmarish especially when palm muted, and as the scale doesn't really have any tonal center, it creates a chaotic lack of resolution in its sound.
