    I make a lot of magnesium based products and love making lotion! I've never thought about making it extra strength before. I'll have to give this recipe a try. The tingling sensation means that your body is low in magnesium. This tingling will go away as your magnesium level is restored.

    Just out of curiosity, why did you make it double strength only to turn around and immediately dilute it? Didn't that make it a regular strength? You didn't give the measurements of the dilution.

      Thank you! Magnesium oil is actually not an oil it is water and magnesium making it a water soluble product. So I’m not sure how this would work in a perfume you could formulate something with magnesium oil, fragrance, oil and polysorbate 80

      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@janicecohoon9674 Hi, making the magnesium double strength just gives the cream an overall higher percentage of magnesium. You can make the magnesium oil regular strength but then the actual amount of magnesium will be smaller in your finished product.

    I joined your Patreon and tried to make this recipe but had trouble with it. I followed the instructions, exactly, and at first after blending the water and oil phases together it wasn’t really thickening much at all. I kept blending it after adding the preservative then it finally started thickening. After that though it quickly started doing something similar to ricing in CP soap where it’s got a funny sort of lumpy texture and oils floating on top. I was able to stir the oils back in but when letting it sit they would float back up. I don’t know what I did wrong. Any advice?

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  Před 6 měsíci +1

      It sounds like you never got a stable emulsion. This can be tricky with magnesium oil. Make sure to blend very thoroughly and wait to add the cool down ingredients until the formula has thickened some and you have a good stable emulsion. Also make sure you are not exceeding the amount of magnesium oil listed in the formula as too much magnesium will break down the emulsion.

    I have read and heard people say that the reason why it may tingle is because you maybe lacking magnesium. The more you lack, the more it tingles. But will go away.

    If you made the Mag Oil "regular strength", you could use it in direct replacement for water in any lotion/butter recipe without getting that burning - that's what I've seen everywhere. If you have to dilute the double strength with additional distilled water to make it work, it seems like you've reversed the purpose of using double-strength?

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  Před měsícem +1

      I have found magnesium oil as a direct replacement for water has two problems, it can make the emulsion break as the electrolytes are too high and it has a sticky, weird coating on the skin. This formula doesn’t seem to have that feeling and it doesn’t tingle. But it may tingle a bit on other people and that is also very normal with magnesium.

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I have not had any issues with rust. These containers are food grade and rust proof. I don't think I would store this cream in mason jar with metal lid though. That could be problematic!
