Tim Curry is the master at playing deliciously evil cartoon villains and Skullmaster was one of the greats. Mighty Max was definitely one of Tim's best work
I blame Skullmaster's parents for all of this. Give a kid that name, and not only is he destined for evil, but he is destined to work so hard at it, that you will tremble in fear rather than snicker at his hokey name.

Curry is the bomb when it comes to playing villains, that distinctive voice he brings to the table is not only why it brought me here but brings each character to life. He knows exactly how to control a villain wether it's animated or live-action. In my opinion he's plays villains better than the other ones we have today. (Except in Disney films)
He anyways brought his A game, which makes finding the times he didn’t give AF all the more awesome. Compare skull master to the pebble and the penguin, he was obviously counting the minutes
One of the more genre-savvy villains, 90s wise. The fact that he actually "win" at the grand finale only for Max to get a stroke of luck 2nd chance to try again is only a consolation.
Tim Curry is quite a versatile voice actor. He can play the most evil of villains(Captain Hook, considered for the Joker, Dr. Sevarius) or the nicest of men(Nigel Thornberry)
The music for this Series was ahead of its time for a Kid’s Show. Helped give a Creepy and Desperate vibe to the story’s atmosphere. Never mind that the show was based on a “Playset”.
I'll forever get chills when I hear that churning, grinding electric guitar wail paired with the double-tapped pounding drums, its so evocative of gutbusting action being twisted into impending doom.
I loved this old show. I was especially creeped out by some of the more darker themes of the show such as wanton murder, but that's what made it so great.
This show was hardcore: I never knew a show, outside of SWAT Kats, that had so many minor character deaths. Sure they were always at the start of each episode, with some minor exceptions, but Mighty Max had a decently high casualty rate.
Skullmaster was definitely one of the most dangerous and threatening characters ever to appear in a kid show ... and bloody hell, he was even voiced by Tim Curry, which makes him even creepier!
My favourite moment of all time is when he exclaims one last time ''YOU...WILL...DIEEEEEEE'' before plunging to his death, even tho Max has already escaped through a portal

Holy crap, that main character kid is such a contrived product of corporate planning; Poochie the Dog is real! Besides that, despite the gratuitously edgy design and dialogue of Skullmaster, Tim Curry's performance makes it feel earned, thereby becoming awesome and engaging; pity he wasn't paired against an actually good hero, but them's the brakes.
The contrast of Max and his unlikely hood of being a "hero" is exactly what makes Skullmaster stand out. His theatrics never quite have a say against Max's witty comebacks. Skullmaster knows how to handle "heroes" the original cap bearer was one but Max is the ultimate monkey wrench that ol' bonehead can never predict.
Back in the day, eeeeveryone wanted to eat the main character's heart or put their head on the wall, but nowadays you mention blood, and unless you're Gravity Falls, you get censored pretty quickly. I wonder why.

Mighty Max. It was inspired by a boys knock off Polly Pocket, but it was a very good show.
Holy crap, that main character kid is such a contrived product of corporate planning; Poochie the Dog is real!
Besides that, despite the gratuitously edgy design and dialogue of Skullmaster, Tim Curry's performance makes it feel earned, thereby becoming awesome and engaging; pity he wasn't paired against an actually good hero, but them's the brakes.
That was the point. Max was an immature kid who needed to grow up fast to defeat a monster. Just like Ben vs Vilgax
The contrast of Max and his unlikely hood of being a "hero" is exactly what makes Skullmaster stand out. His theatrics never quite have a say against Max's witty comebacks. Skullmaster knows how to handle "heroes" the original cap bearer was one but Max is the ultimate monkey wrench that ol' bonehead can never predict.
