- After owning the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k for four years now, I wanted to revisit this camera and share what I still love about it! Overall it's always going to be one of my favorite cameras to use even if I don't take it out as much anymore. And having tried the BMPCC6k G2, I think the pocket line is still a great option for filmmakers looking to level up their camera set up.

What’s been your go-to camera whether for photo or video? Let me know!
Mine is the BMPCC4K as well, bought it at the end of 2019, still have it, use it when I can. I honestly am Amazed at how awesome it is.
That’s awesome! I agree the image quality and ease of use makes it such a fun camera!
Just got a bmpcc4k as a graduation gift and it’s literally the greatest thing I’ve ever owned. For the price, it’s unbeatable.
Lets goo that’s an amazing grad gift!! 🎉 I agree nothing can beat it for only $1300 such a solid camera! Congrats on graduating and getting a sick new camera!
I still love my little BMPCC4K. Here in humid Sydney it got fungus on the IR filter which I’ve just had replaced. The only other camera that gets that is Leica.
Must be in good company.
Very inspiring camera.
I agree, they're honestly still one of the best budget cinema cameras you can get!
Great video man. Your footage looks awesome and you're easy to listen to. Well done
Hey thanks so much Jake I really appreciate the kind words!! 🙏
It's been my work horse for about a year now. Still love it. Great video, keep it up!
@@leonarddavies-garner7218 Nice!! Such a great workhorse camera, I’ve used it for mini doc, music videos, real estate, even shoot it as my A-roll for some of my youtube videos!
We still use the bm 4k in our productions. It's such an amazing camera.
That’s awesome!! Yeah it’s such a great camera that still holds well with newer cameras 🙌
I had the o.g pocket... the smaller one. And I'm thinking about taking the next step to this one. I love it and I've never even seen it in person.
I’ve heard tons of great things about the og pocket too! Honestly it’s still such a great camera 4k 60 prores and b raw for $1300 is amazing!
@@victor.melchorfilm The O.G Pocket is still a beast. With all its quirks, it can still kick a few of the new kids arounds with enough rigging.
Also my first Cine camera. But I kinda want to upgrade to a 6K Pro.
Nice!! Yeah the 6k pro is tempting and they recently dropped the price of the 6k full frame to $1575 as well
i have it and its beautiful...the colours are just soft and so pleasing...that i have less to do in the colour grades...and the file sizes are totally manageable...
which is something most folks dont realize...6K files are huge and will slow down your computer if y dont have something thats heavy duty...
all my new videos on my channel are shot on the 4K and you can see how cool the footage looks...
i call it the apple of cameras...
@@mylifepart2 Yep I 100% agree! Amazing colors, and 4k raw is a much smaller file size than 6k raw which fills up my hard drives fast!
pocket 4k the best bang for your buck out of all the series!!!
100% agree!!
Still use it after years and as a matter of fact, I buy a lot of them second hand on the cheap. Just to have a nice supply of spare cames for the coming decades.
I worked with every other cinena cam from Red, to Arri and Sony's, but nothing compares to a simple 4k with a lens and nothing more.
Just put ut in the backpack with a cheap monopod and grab it to film whenever needed.
Unrigged and straight out the box works best. Point and shoot. So freeing and what an image quality.
People are roo focussed on gear gear gear...Just pount and shoot...use your creativity.
Nice I’ve seen a ton of great deals on ebay and offer up! I agree, I feel like there’s something special about the image that comes out of blackmagic cameras
Love BRAW! And I'm using a continuous-autofocus BMPCC4K.
I agree! Oh that’s awesome, so you have a lidar sensor added on?
@@victor.melchorfilm 😀 Yes. And I'v uploaded a video about this. czcams.com/video/75ZXEM1BLF0/video.htmlsi=0o23IsDB-JTLo-EU
You say the 6k pockets have "better dynamic range" than the 4k. But according to Blackmagic Design's website all the pockets have 13 stops of DR. Can you explain what you mean? Thank you for the video.
Thanks for watching! They both have around 13 stops of dynamic range but the larger sensor of the 6k has slightly more with the larger sensor, then if you shoot in 6k and edit in a 4k timeline you get even slightly more because of the image being downsampled to 4k! Here’s a link to the lab tests: www.cined.com/blackmagic-pocket-cinema-camera-6k-lab-test-dynamic-range-latitude-rolling-shutter-more/
no image stabilization or auto focus though right?
@@rogereberton You’re right, it would be great if it had those features but for the price you get a ton of great specs that other cinema cameras don’t have
what lenses did you get for it? I saw a 12-35?
@@chromaticvisuelle Yep! I got a Lumix 12-35 and Slr magic 8mm
What’s your go too lens for the BMPCC4k man? Cheers
Hey, welcome to the channel! My main lens I'd recommend to everybody is the Lumix 12-35 f2.8! It practically lives on my lens, and it's an incredibly versatile focal length, and notoverly sharp or soft so its optics look ideal in my opinion. @@victor.melchorfilm ha! This is what I have! The only thing I find is the frustration when it comes to manual focus with the focus by wire
@@MissionMitchAdventures Oh nice! Yeah it took my a while to get used to but if I was ever struggling I just bump it up to f5.6 haha! Also I love the slr magic 8mm
