I wouldn't say i don't feel bad for the Queen. Simply put, as terrible as nature can be, it's neither good nor evil. It just.... Is.
Compare that to some of the children she's had, which inherited the most human qualities of the prey she's consumed. They actually have the opportunity of being Good or Evil, the Queen herseld though...
I mean, she doesn't really have any malice, she's just an animal. An animal with intellect to a degree, but still just an animal, who hungers and acts on instinct. One of those instincts being, of course, the one of protecting your offspring. And there's something so deeply fascinating about that considering that animals, as creatures purely of instinct, are almost 100% selfish ... But when their children are involved, that's where a fair ammount of them will put their own lives on the line if it means to save them. Maybe i'm just a biology nerd, but idk, i find that shit dope

      It is really interesting.
Following your biological programming isn't evil necessarily.
Trying to hone in on what sickens me about the queen... It's not the care for her offspring, that's a natural and usually beautiful thing. It's like the possessive blindness that creates the danger underneath. There are people standing around mourning her death, but she'd murder any and all of them in cold blood if she thought it would help her tyrannical son.
In real life, though definitely not this extreme, I've encountered this as a teacher where "my darling angel boy is always right." You end up watching helplessly as someone molds a tyrant, willing to ignore all questions of right and wrong for their progeny. True love isn't blind one-sidedness to a person no matter the consequences. A parents love can also be unhealthy, smothering, warping, etc. And that's what I feel watching the queen and Merueum.

It's sort of like how you might sometimes experience chills when you meet someone because you feel they're hiding deeply selfish and terrible motives for using you beneath social niceties. That there's something venomous about them that you can't quite put your finger on. Well this kind of parent is something like that BUT they're using their kids as a vehicle for their own narcissism

I think this reaction against, you might say, "the genetic mechanism of love", rather than being rooted in a logical distaste for something like bad and unhelpful behaviors, is instead driven by a disdain for the idea that organic life may actually just be an incredibly complex system of chemical reactions.
What I mean by this is, the Queen is clearly being motivated by human emotions here. There is absolutely nothing about genetic imperative that would make her want to give her son a name. But if you think that the Queen is just like a hive animal, only driven by that genetic imperative for the species, then what exactly is that human emotion? Is that simple, sentimental human desire, this expression of love essentially without any materialistic bearing, actually not just some complicated expression of genetic supremacy?
At a core level going down this line of inquiry undermines what you think you are.

I really do love Colt. That need to protect that he has is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I wonder if it'll be satisfactory to dedicate his life to that, or if he'll eventually want to live for himself as well.

I didn't care for the Queen Ant in the slightest but I did feel bad for Colt..That's the reason everyone in that room felt bad...noone cared for the Queen Ant except Colt and the other few ants...it's Colt's desperation and pain which softies like Knuckle and Morel AND MEEEE felt bad for

I dont really care about the queen but I also don't really feel any malice towards her, she's not human so for me to apply the moral standards that most humans hold feels wrong to me. It's a bit different for her children since they're clearly so heavily influenced by their human ancestry, plus the fact that many of them actually remember their past lives as humans

Genuine question. How are you able to so clearly articulate your thoughts? Is there lots of thinking and cutting for the video, or have you just thought about all these things so much you can kinda easily say all that naturally? And if so… did you do anything to help develop and grow that skill?
It’s admirable, really. I find your insight highly engaging and interesting to watch, and often can’t help but spark plenty of thoughts for my self that I would wanna throw at you and see you respond to. Also I often feel like I think lots of the exact same thing, but you just have a way to somehow be able to… word it? Miqo curious. Kinda wanna learn n copy a bit ;o

Thank you that's really nice to hear!
      Editing definitely helps 😂
There's no short answer but I think a lot of it is a combination of interest and practice. I enjoy thinking and talking about stuff and I was lucky enough to grow up in a friend circle of really amazing, like minded people. I've also had a lot of practice doing these videos at this point (I'm at something like 1200 now?)
The darker side: I was very cynical when I was young and became a contrarian for the feeling of security it gave me (or identity, or some combination of things). That wasn't great, but thankfully there are some positive lingering effects 😅

    Spoiler alert
In hind sight i feel the queen’s speech has a added meaning to me while watching this reaction. Knowing the ants are likely from the dark continent you can only imagine the things that the queen and her ancestors have witnessed and had to survive through. Perhaps a world where the cold, powerful borderline sinister attitude of the king is common place. Infact it is only through an existence like that that allows any species to survive at all. This in no way forgives what they do but at least for me what struck me specifically is when asked if the king had any defects. This could ofc be seen from a greedy human side but there is also the survival animal side as having any defects in a dark continent situation means you just die. The potential to rule the world she mentions could also be seen as simply living on and spreading the ant colony.
Idk this may all be overthinking but i think there may be part of that there

it's really funny to me that people are always scared Knuckle would die the moment they entered NGL, like, why would the author spend time introducing APR? the author would have skipped Knuckle and Shoot's battles with Gon and Killua entirely if they weren't going to survive until they got to use their abilities and show the use and reason of their mindsets and motivations. atleast, that's how I consume stories. a writer always does something for a purpose, afterall.
