  • F6 E3 Error Code coming up? Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer possible fix for specifically WTW7040DW0
    When all troubleshooting didn't work anymore (power cycling, button reset combinations and other tips from the web) it was erroring so much I was going to spend the $150 for the new board.
    I decided I would take it apart as a FINAL resort. I unscrewed the back cover plate, removed the attached cables and screws to take off the touch plate, popped off the top carefully, and at a closer look I noticed the contacts were dusty. That is the first step in the phase 2 troubleshooting (deciding if a component is 100% dead and needs to be replaced) clean, reinstall, and test. Well I've never needed to do it again to the day.
    I wouldn't think it would be dust but... It worked. It could have been that one of the contacts or something was loose and by dusting it off (It took a good amount of pressure to remove the dust) it was put back in place. Please know I was very careful as I know circuitry is delicate. I build and fix computers and more so I am not a stranger. You Tube vids though I need more work lol.

    Thank you for this. This is my third time getting the F6E3 code. I called the appliance guy the last 2 times. Charged me several hundred dollars both times to replace something. The last time was 2 months ago. Went off again today. I got pissed and you tubed... found your video. Problem solved in 5 minutes. Still pissed I wasted a 500-800 bucks, but glad it's working and I know what to do now. I'm slowly learning to do more and more myself because the "pros" aren't reliable.

      Sometimes yeah. Hell maybe even most of the time. All the time I dont trust them so I try to figure it out. Most of the time I do... well... ive never taken my car to the shop. Ive never taken any of my computers to a tech. But i have had a lot of help and downtime researching w trial and error in it etc... I've been given a lot though so Im glad to be able to give back somehow.

    Same thing happened to mine. We’ve run probably 30 loads since I performed this “repair” and the error code has not returned. The solder joints and all of the electrical connections looked really good. They were not dirty or dusty or anything. I still took a q-tip with some rubbing alcohol and cleaned them thoroughly. Good to go! FYI, you have to shove a flathead screwdriver pretty far back in there to pop off the panel. Hopefully it runs another 4 years before throwing a code again. Thanks a lot for your video! It saved me a lot of money

      @@jaygrasmick Thank-you Jay. The circuit board areas you identified looked clean on my machine. Even though looked good, thoroughly cleaned the areas with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol using Q-tips. Everything worked great afterwards. The circuit board areas you identified apparently are very vulnerable moisture. Clearing all moisture and contamination from the area did the trick.

      Washing machine worked after cleaning the circuit board. Later failed, but worked after cleaning the circuit board again. I believe it's fixed for good now that I have applied the conformal silicon coating noted in the Ben's Appliance video. Thank-you.

    Thanks for the video. I helped me to fix my F6 E3 issue on my Whirlpool Carbiro top load washer.
    However, the way I fixed it was by only unplugging the washer's electrical connector for >1 hour, and not by removing the dust from the washer's circuit board. My reason was that there are many electrical products in my house, such as TV, remote control, personal computer, etc..., they all have circuit boards inside them and I almost never need to do any dust removal work on them. Hence, I don't think the reason the problem was fixed in the washer was due to dust removal works, but was due to having the sufficient time for the power of the washer being removed from the electrical outlet, causing any temporary memory to be removed completely from the washer circuit board.
    Nevertheless, I do appreciate this video since it gave an idea on how to fix my washer's F6 E3 problem.

      @jaygrasmick  Před 3 lety

      Soooo this was a final resort for me. I know my way around electronics and really most everything electronic related. If you are like me then you have spent the troubleshooting time all the way down to the reset button combination. You have power cycled it and tried every thing you could find suggesting a possible fix. I'm glad it worked for you, cycling the power. The thing is that it didn't last for me. Nothing lasted and the error frequency got worse until it was so bad I was ready to pay the $150 for new parts. Since I'm very comfortable with hardware and electronics (I know what I am doing) I decided I'd have a look. I fixed it by doing this and only this to my surprise. After a month of hunting down troubleshooting stuff until I ran out, my washer is still error free and the fix was not on the net anywhere. That was the last thing I did to it. The problem with yours may not be the same as mine or others' but for at least some people here, the problem got worse and worse after all the OBVIOUS troubleshooting techniques, and for some, the well hidden ones on the net over and over again. If it wasn't the dust it could have been a bad connection that by removing the dust (Pushing on the contacts or whatever they are) it connected better... I did have to push on mine pretty hard to get the dust off. Its kind of insulting you assume the first step in troubleshooting a washer that I would carry out would be to pull it apart and clean the circuit boards!!?? When your computer freezes you do what? When the bios crashes to recover you must? When your inet goes out you? Power cycle. Letting all the electricity out of the machine in the manor that the specific manual states because ram does not store information once powered down. Computers have a battery to keep user changes to the bios from resetting every time you turn off the computer, but not always must you remove the battery to reset it... So yeah its pretty obvious the first thing to look for is how do you reset the machine. Never the less I'm glad your washer was fixed and all it took you to do was power cycle it. I am also glad I've helped since that is all this was meant to do.

    I have the same washer and error code. Just wondering did you have to un-screw anything from the back before just shoving the flat head and popping it open?

    • @jaygrasmick
      @jaygrasmick  Před 4 lety

      Yes the cover panel behind that top part must come off 1st. The picture was a demonstration in my video. Just to show exactly where to put the screwdriver.

  • @kevs3266
    @kevs3266 Před 4 lety +1

    i am trying to do this. do i remove the screws from the back as well? i can only find how to get the whole panel i want underneath the buttons which looks like where you are at.

    • @jaygrasmick
      @jaygrasmick  Před 4 lety +1

      Just the top part of the back. The bottom back cover is pointless to remove for this specific fix..

    • @jaygrasmick
      @jaygrasmick  Před 4 lety

      Please know there are wires attatched on the back of the touch panel after you remove the cover and the top front cover. You have to be careful removing them. They are connected via connecter which should't require much to seperate and are attached to the back of the touch panel.
