Star Wars Battlefront 2 was a mess when it launched in 2017. So looking at the game now in 2024 is it still fun to play, because this Star Wars game was almost perfect. Well, that's what I tried to find out in this video. From game modes to mods I tried to figure out if you should play Battlefront 2 again today.

I played well over 50 hours of this game when it first came out and I still find myself coming back to it.
What do think about what happened to Battlefront 2?
The amount of content was pitiful though and it was only the OT. Oh and the expansions
pretty much what you said at the beggining. CONTROVERSY at the very start of a game can kill it but being a GOOD game will keep it alive. and like you said they FINALLY got to a point where it was PERFECT, now they can continue on the promises they made and have tons of... wait, oh, they are done with the game because it didnt produce enough money? yeah, yeah that sounds about right.
Ultimately EA is a company that has to make money. Passion projects don't make as much money as making a new more appealing game. So, out with the old, in with the new. I'm sure the devs who finally got tit to a working state were like "COOL, DAMN, we got it now let's .... EA is tellin us to stop...... FUUUUUU!!!!!!!!" it's just one of those things we see time and time again. That's why i have little to no hope for AAA titles. indie games are the only hope i see.
The art team that did battlefront2 and battlefield1 is crazy, the way they use texture from actual photo of the actual place make the game look beautiful,even 3 graphic gen later.
The graphics are BEAUTIFUL
I still think battlefront 2016 was really underappreciated too, the casual multiplayer was an utter blast

Man. They never should’ve cancelled this game at it’s literal hay day. I played it from the beta to about 2022 but no longer have ps plus cuz it was the only multiplayer game I played. Truly a shame.

You think supremacy is long now? It used to require planting bombs and progress in ships wasn’t saved. I played a game of supremacy for like 2 hours when it first came out.
Oh ya the original was WILD
All I want in the perfect Battlefront 3 is:
1: A satisfying campaign set in the Clone Wars
2: a vast set of locations, both in singleplayer and Multiplayer
3: a rewarding progression system
4: no sequel era content, primarily focused on the Clone Wars and OG era, but mostly Clone Wars.

yo, so rq, hacker at the start wasn't actually hacking, power blast on the arc trooper, isb agent and leia just have ridiculous auto aim, and often camp at the back of the map and spam it

I can't believe there was a whole battlefront war going on in the stars not once, but TWICE. That's coo coo bananas. Even crazier that it got abandoned. How you gonna abandon a war? Get back on the front lines, Dice. The Galaxy needs you.

This was one of my favorite games at the time and nowadays whenever i boot it back up and don‘t see anyone online, I just feel like a part of my childhood experience was ripped away from me. What a time, 2017 was.
I was never really a big Star Wars fan but I remember playing the hell out of the 2005 release that we rented from a Blockbuster. It was disappointing to hear on launch about that lootbox fiasco and I was glad they fixed it, however it never changed the fact that I had no interest in the game.
While I am glad to hear there is a community of players still grinding it out, I think the prerequisites of getting into a lobby and being good enough with your loadouts compared to the rest of the community only hurts the playerbase.

i still regularly play battlefront 2 on my ps4 and i am able to find matches from pretty much any mode at any time of day or night... i dont think ill ever stop hoping for a bf3 that brings all prior content and builds off of that
My family all had Xbox’s and we would all play together in groups of 4 so there were literally 10 of us playing the game at the same time, this game had a special place in my heart. Party chat was insane.
It makes me so sad that this is the state of the game. I remember booting this up on my ps4 in 2019 and loving every second and raging at people who would hog the heros. I want that again, but of course, EA has to ruin everything it touches.

I still remember when supremacy first came out matches literally hours, my longest match was almost 3 hours like 2h 50m I was about to quit if we didn't get the objective.
Man those supremacy games were the shit. Those ones where it's so ridiculously even it goes from barely winning the ground stage to making a small dent in the capital ship objective then back to the ground for the same thing to happen but the other way around and then over and over, until the last objective is finally destroyed 2 hours later. Everyone has 100-200 kills except for some random max level bossk with 748 who hasn't died once. Especially fun when you're playing with friends and you run around as a 4 squad of commandos wiping out objectives and melting sabre spammers

I think that the games greatest strength is how damn beautiful it is. The graphics, especially the lighting have aged masterfully.

Ewok Hunt is still the most haunting and bone chilling thing I’ve ever played. Forget about any ps2 horror classic.. this is where true horror lies
Edit: Last time I played BF2 was in 2020 during the little hype wave it had (there was an even bigger one in 2021). Some of the best moments in multiplayer gaming I had were in this game. I remember one heroes v villains match where I initiated armistice an enemy player and then we got everyone else to stop fighting and just did some fun shit for the rest of the match. Good times
I wish Ewok Hunt had more players on PC cause it was great.

That’s great to hear.
This game still has a healthy population on Xbox, full of both new and veteran players. You can find a game of pretty much any mode in a short amount of time. You might run into the same few MAX level players but they’re usually confined to just one mode. The hero modes are really toxic and I wouldn’t recommend them to new players, but it can be a fun challenge on occasion.
That guy wasn’t hacking haha. He was using the ARC Trooper’s power blast, which works the same way as Leia’s secondary fire. Both have heat seeking/aim assist capabilities. Sniping is insane.
I'll be honest I enjoyed the campaign of this game, made me wish for more after completing it.
I once played 4 AND A HALF HOURS OF SUPREMACY, only to lose at the end, that was rough

Idk where the ewok hunt thing comes from, I'm on ps4 and always get decently sized lobbies on ewok hunt
He’s not hacking the secondary fire for the arc trooper is completely busted, you can sit in the back of the map and spam secondary fire and it will lock on to someone it really only works on geonosis though.
Co-op is the way to go.

a good amount of people still play hvv, it’s a really fun game mode but it’s pretty sweaty
Galactic Assault is my favorite gamemode, but it does have a lot of variance in quality. For one, you can't filter by era, which means you have an equal chance of getting one of the Prequel or OT era maps, which all have their own flaws, or the atrocious sequel era maps, which have many many many more flaws. On top of that some maps are pretty much a guaranteed win to one side, which is usually the defenders, but not always. For example, I've never seen the Empire win on Yavin 4, or the Rebels win on the Death Star II. And on top of that, both Supremacy and Galactic Assault have a huge toxicity problem with the chat. To the point I recommend just completely hiding the chat window, especially if you're recording or streaming the game. There's just too many slurs that get thrown around.

The multiplayer is sweaty but that doesn't mean its not worth putting in the time to really get into it. It took some time to learn pvp skills but im telling you once you're a droidika or arc trooper helping your team destroy the enemies ship as the timer is just about to run out can be some of the most satisfying experiences you can get in a starwars game to date. I wouldn't write off supremacy so quick when its clearly the most populated mode for a reason
Supremacy is a great mode, but man, sometimes it lasts a long time.

The worst thing is that this game was halted because of Battlefield 2042, and we all know how that went.
Numbers are definitely higher on Xbox, I can find most game modes on a weekend at night
0:41 not a hacker, arc trooper’s charged shot is a homing shot at long distances, so he’s just perched up on the highest point of the map aiming at the bot’s spawn area

That wasn’t a hacker haha 😭 that was either Leia or an arc trooper spamming secondary fire from the last objective before that point on top of a cliff . It’s fun to do with a group, the secondary fire locks onto infantry and vehicles making it op to just shoot off into the distance where you know there’s fighting it’s hilarious but probably sucks on the other end lmao
The ARC in the beginning who was "hacking" actually just used a glitch that many (mainly specialist class) use to get above the map and shoot from there. Some bozo in the comments said that it was "the ability" (idk why that comment pissed me off, sorry), but yeah... Now you know! Love the video btw

It's not a glitch, the power blast from most reinforcements do track so it kind of is an ability
@@alecwrubel9911 Yes, but that wasn't what I meant. The red "outline" of the unit was seen above the ground, and yes, it goes up at that part of the map, but the unit was clearly ABOVE that.

Personally I play on PS5 and I have no problem finding lobby’s for any game modes and plus I rarely run into hackers(but I can’t use mods so that kinda sucks😢)
On Playstation the game is thriving. I have consistently found matches in every mode, every once in a while its harder to get a mode, but its usually pretty good, woyld reccomend for playstation.
You have to switch to other regions to get more players on some gqme modes
Console is very active. You can get games in most of the gamemodes most of the time

I still play this game regularly and enjoy it. I never got into the space combat stuff unfortunately.
Console is better player wise. Hero vs Villian is pretty alive and can sometimes find a rebel vs empire match.
I only want 1 game from now on ... battlefront 3 .

My biggest complaints were the loading taking forever and the stupid dodge button for the lightsaber Heroes. Just doesn’t look fun for let’s plays

Just bought this game and while yes, the matchmaking is long, the games are really enjoyable
On Xbox the servers are alive and well also you completely failed to mention the hero modes in this video which are one of the easiest gamemodes to find servers in

I recently redownloaded the game on PS5 and unfortunately it seems largely dead there. Only really Co op and hero vs villains that have any people playing

Battlefront 2 is way too focused on heroes and elites for me find fun. I expect Battlefront to play like Battlefield's amazing large infantry battles but instead it's just tiny 20v20 battles with shallow infantry combat and almost half of the server playing as overpowered hero characters that one shot you whenever you spawn. It's not fun.
It was still fun no matter what you did in the game it's still awesome 💯😎
I think modded servers are the way to go if you want to pick this game up again.

It's an ok game. The factions aren't balanced which spoils the game. Also, they make no effort to at least try and evenly match teams. However, when teams are evenly matched you can have some epic battles despite the faction imbalance.
I bought an original Xbox One in ... holy shit ... 2014? Because of things like Game Pass, I've only bought a handful of games in that time. This and the first Battlefront are two of them. With the original BF, I actually bought the DLC as well. So, they could very easily have expanded the game and made money from it.
I don't know what happened to curse this franchise but it truly is a shame. I've had a lot of fun playing Battlefront 2 over the years but there is just so much wasted potential.
Hopefully one day another studio picks it up and we get the Battlefront game we've been waiting for *Copium*

If this game released how it was in 2019/20 it would’ve been the greatest Star Wars game of all time-and potentially EA’s top breadwinner as well. That’s where Battlefront 3 would have come in. But talking about that is going to make my wrists grow papercuts.
I quit playing after they discontinued it after leaving us with an update that added things we didnt ask for. We almost had ahsoka and padme, being recycled for the isb agent. Her run being ahsoka's run animation and the face model was padme's. They lwft this game for a shitty battlefield that doesnt even work
The fact the sequel trilogy supremacy has no players doesnt surprise me. Fighting first order rocket troopers was no fun. They just fly and spam rockets. If the first order board your ship its game over cause rocket troopers spam. It was annoying you lose in seconds cause rocket troopers spam the objective until its health is zero. Its so annoying and unfun. No balance whatsoever.

Battlefront two is a top 3 game of all time for me.
I've been trying to get the game to work on Steam for 2 hours. Cannot connect to EA server, play by myself offline and game crashes instantly. Tried everything. It's Trash 2024. What a shame.

For me it also sometimes does the “can’t connect” I usually just keep clicking reconnect at the top or restart and relogin to EA to get it to work as well. It’s a pain in the ass but hopefully that helps gamer.
