It’s not luck- it’s skill. You are damn good at this! Respect to you.
it's also a bit of luck, it could've been worse like the actual GPU being screwed
I have said it before, but the disassembly and assembly could make nice videos too. Big boss could have his own channel!
Well done Alex, I soldered boards for years at a big company and I'm still learning from you years into my wonderful retirement. LOL. I really did laugh out loud when I saw all that "GOLD' I'm still wondering where did it come from....I think you may be correct that it was glitter, ugh.
It really is the herpes of art supplies.
Northridgefix is one of my favourite channels I’ve been micro soldering for years and I learn something new with every video thank you for the years of knowledge which certainly has improved my repair rate and you have also taught me not to take it to heart or be hard on myself for a no fix I’m a bit of a perfectionist lol 😂if it ain’t fixed I failed but your videos over the years have shown me that even professionals face no fixes sometimes
Have a blessed day everyone god bless you all
God bless northridgefix
@@1RebelDog1 I agree my favourite and there are a fair few on youtube but I always watch northridgefix have a blessed day 😀
I like how NorthridgeFix has taken the void and replaced Louis Rossman for hardware repair videos.
I just bought my first soldering and rework stations after inspiration to try from this channel. I had an old Lenovo motherboard laying around that I am using to practice. My first attempt at removing an HDMI connector was a Hiroshima. Long way to go. :)
you shouldn't start with complex connectors and stuff, first learn the basics and try desoldring/soldering components on dead boards, or get a soldering practice kit, its pretty helpful, also good flux will make all the difference, thats something i learnt in my 7+ years soldering
@@ShahZahid the board is useless which is why I'm practicing on it. I've had it in the closet for a good while. There are a bunch of different sized components that I think will give me good practice. I think I had the wrong size nozzle on the hot air gun so I wasn't heating up the board sufficiently to release it. I was surprised at how little force it takes to rip the pads. I barely used any. It's a good lesson learned.
Have a good flux, try first with through hole components get a feel of how each tip affects the soldering process. Then try smd from big to small. Have a small but strong pliers will also help a lot. It is good that you have a board to try on tho. It is a long learning process, good luck.
When you're the one repairing my electronic components I'm 10/10 optimistic.
This channel has a lot of memes.
Better than factory.
Scientist.
Decorative solder balls.
Hiroshima 🤣
UV light
The short is gone 😅
Alex "went for the kill" and nailed it in no time on this one! Honestly, I couldn't see the thermal change, but he saw it right away. Amazing. Also, what the heck was all that gold?!
I saw one of my menthors having a lot of issues trying to solder a QFN ic, in a T*CON board for a TV, just like this mosfet you soldered and this guy fail trying to do it. He did it twice because he thought the ic was bad, then he ordered a brand new chip and fail again, wich tells me that probably the problem is not the chip but the soldering method. Congrats Alex, Big Boss, dad and NorthridgeFix.
I swear Alex's passion for what he does is palpable. Top YB channel :) ty
its great to see knowledge being shared and the smile when the repair is successful
thank you big boss
straight to the point well done Alex
Might want to put that board in an untrasonic bath for a few minutes
Honestly the best Channel.
Salam from France, before i watched your vidéo about amtech NC 559 ,i worked with mg chemical and when i decided to buy amtech and tried it ,it's just Amazing .
God bless you.
Respect Alex ! I love your work and presentation ! Keep going on ...
Customer: I have a laptop for you to fix
Alex: Let me guess, it's an Asus
Customer: right
There's sus in Asus.
0:00 The most common and most iconic sentence at the beginning of the video on this channel. You won't find more frequent. Asus forever ( ironically ) 😀
my OCD when i see such messy desk =) its hard for me to look at it haha!!!! well done brother...
Gotta love Big Boss. He be like, "Ya, ya. Get outta here & let me work." LOL
Millions and millions of CZcams channels, yours is the only one I want to receive notifications on. Great Job as always
always a pleasure to see you smile after a successful repair. inspiring. thank you!
If I ever need electronics repaired Alex is my first choice. Nicely done Sir.
We struck gold, guys 👍
Great work. Another laptop saved from going to the trashbin. Perfect. Thank you for that video, greats
Did you ever replace a gpu chip, or any other big BGA chip? I'd love to watch that kind of repair!
May be in the past. But never seen him do on this channel because it's not economical.
The most important lesson I've learned from this channel is Time & Business > Electronics & Repair.
Re balls ?
He does it when replacing wifi chip on samsung tablet: czcams.com/video/tBMh6qt4VJg/video.html
If you are talking about reballing, yes he has done that before but i think it is not like change the chip. It is sometimes difficult to find the exact same part.
My iPhone gets really hot when you use your heat gun on the the board
@ 3:25 about the probe you should put a sticker with a name like voltage or amp meter to distinguish the multimeter probe from the amp meter probe , i do it for my multi charger connectors like for 12v and 5v charger connectors so i'm not mistaken from which charger to plug
Great,shokran lak ya 3almy👍
Your place is so clean and tidy I don't know how you don't lose anything
Thank NORTHBRIDGE...for your wonderful channel..and all the teaching we've got ..
But I have a big and serious question ..that EVERYONE ASK ..even under table....
How much a repair technician can make a month/year..???
If you cannot be precise..what's the AVERAGE money can we do as repair tech like you??
Your answer IS VERY IMPORTANT..for many of us..following you on this channel..
Thank you
Wow!! You went straight to the short at the beginning of this video !!! You are psychic Alex !!!
Great work Alex, thanks for educating the tech side.
Wonderful content ! I might send a board to you. Keep it going dude, cheers to the boss.
Always nice with an "easy" win, with the right goto approach you get even the difficult solution, to look simple !👍
Don't you, as a standard service, ultrasonic clean any of the boards repaired? This looked as an obvious candidate. The thought behind for now the board is fixed, but over time, due to short /heat/corrosion buildup another component could fail.🌪
ultrasonic cleans is for suckas
Para mí es el mejor canal de todos los que he visto se nota que es un profesional en su materia
I like big boss, he is very polite and doesn't talk much. A quality of a genuine boss.
Thank you Alex and Big Boss. Love all your vids. Please can I ask where I can find the full version of your outro tune?
lol new christmas sales idea? solder ball ornaments!
I have this same laptop and had to take it apart so I know what the inside looks like. I still can't believe that gold substance all over. The G14 runs hot and I'm sure they were doing all they can to get it to run a few degrees cooler, but then you risk stuff like this.. for like 3 fps. For all we know the user changing how the heat was disapated might of even led to the failure.
Oh lol *asus* laptops are the staple of this channel. I'd buy asus laptop just because I've learnt to repair them from your videos!.
It blows my mind how you single handedly find patterns that asus engineers who designed the board can't.
They should consult you.
You are nearly 80 percent right on your guesses by my estimation.
Thanks!
will you ship to the uk as i am disabled and find it very hard to move about . i like your vid i been watching you since the days that you was working in that shop upstairs .
I ordered from his shop to Australia, no problem.
You play with your board enjoying the repair its always enjoying to see your videos alex👌👍
Im always watching the OG do the work
"Here we have an Asus laptop that came in for no power", when the video doesn't start like that, I do kinda miss it. Keep up the great work!
Do the asus laptops get bad motherboards frequently? I was planning to get this exact model (G14) but now I’m a bit afraid it.
It's funny how I watch these videos from end to start🤣
2022 version of the Klondike Gold ! 🥳 Well done !!
Capo di tutti capi. Boss off all boses❤
Watching from Cameroon. Always a pleasure.
Good morning to everyone
Great Work!
Favorite brand of laptops on this channel
We found Gold, that's epic lol, love your videos and comments
Thank you again for another video and inspiring me to do board repairs.
So why don't you use flux for part removal?
When I was young, I used to work with a factory that used to make Intel Motherboards and boards for Motorola pagers, they used to clean all the boards kind of like a conveyor washer machine and used Cascade as a clean agent. I will remove any Bios battery, put that board in a dishwasher with a Cascade soap and blow dry later. LOL
new exploding glitter bomb from Mark Rober, nice one :DDD
I love thees'e videos I may not know alot about electronics but love how you explain everything and you reasons what you are doing.
You know you need to clean your glasses when you first read the thumbnail as......Anus Repair :D
Asus laptops do NOT seem like durable machines. I would NOT have bought one.
Or the most repairable one.
Big Boss should make a side channel so we can see stuff being dis and re assembled too!
Hey! Just wondering if this was the same board featured on TronicsFix. Love your vids
Holy moly.
I found the same gold stuff inside a PS3 one day.
Always though it was paint because ppl think thermal paste is some sort of paint but unfortunately, gold thermal paste is something that some manufacturer sell. Which is a joke as thermal conductivity and longevity.
I suppose one day you will also face coconut oil, mayo and nutella as thermal paste, right now I only miss Nutella on my collection !
5:55 I can also see that the chip was cracked on top
I believe I have the same or similar board with the same problem (GA502DU v2.0) My skills are still lacking so it took me a long time (and removing many mosfet/caps) to find out that one of the Mosfet that are in a row above the GPU was possibly bad.. Just like your board. I took it off and the second Mosfet at the DC in is no longer shorted. Fingers crossed that's the issue and not a bad GPU. But now I'm waiting for what I hope is the right chip to come from China sometime in mid to late Oct 😢
Thanks for all your videos and spending time to educate your viewers🙂
Good luck when you get the chips in! Don't give up.
always good to see big boss!
What with the donut icing all over it lol
Wah wah your solder ball are to big 🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes alax great job👍👍👍👍
Hi Alex, would you share temperatures used for solder/desolder please?
He said such an info is not helpful, since there are way too many variables. E.g. nozzle type, distance, etc.
I usually do the maximum temperature and do it as fast as possible. But depends on the solder and the job. I never adjust My soldering iron temperature below 380 Celsius
@@chilloutsloth for sure, but it can gave a base to someone. If too hot and too close you will burn the components and maybe more. Too far and too much air blow then you will never reach the good temperature.
Saying for this attempt I will use 380°c at 50% air blow (not real value) would at least give a base to some people, you can evaluate the distance from the components size on the screen.
@@chilloutsloth any hints are better than no hints
Very professional great work done
That second last step is undeniably important.
You have the precision of a neurosurgeon
that was a great fix as always
the undisputed champ has done it again.. well done sir.
Great Work like always Doc Alex.
Good Morning Alex, can you please make a video showing how to correctly inject voltage into components? I always watch your videos and go to them as soon as I experience any problem.
I've started to learn microsoldering today and I was inspired by you, I learn a lot from your channel. Can you make a video on how you pinch smd components on a tweezer cause when I'm soldering, I thought I've already put it lower but its floating. Just tips on soldering. Thanks!
Admirer of your work!!!
Comment: Not on statistic but in Math the right way to say 10.345 is ten point three, four, five instead of 345.
I got to confess that I follow a lot of electronic chanels wich I have lerned from but, none of then have better soldering technics than you my man. Probably you are not the best at all but soldering, no competition!!!
a compliment and an insult nice work
@@robertcampbell5605 an insult? you think so? sorry if that your perception my friend, i´m a technician and I know why I said it. and also i´m sure Alex will agree!
Where you put the red prove? When you test mosfet? When I try to put in diode mode all will beep’s even caps what’s wrong? 😅 and in continuity it’s ok
my old boss used to say" you are paying me for what I know NOT for what I do" it doesn't matter how long it takes as long as the customer is happy
I hope to send a customer to you some day. Beyond swapping out storage ram, reseating battery, replacing screen or parts, we don't do board repair. No heat gun stuff, soldering, not our bag.
Good job mate 👍
Love the smile face when short is gone $$ 💪💪
Hey I love your Videos and I was wondering if every now and then you showed yourself working on the board
Thank you, nice lesson
Sometimes it becomes difficult to decide whom I admire more...you or Big Boss
They should rename this laptop series ROS, republic of shorts.
Main cast of the channel.
1. Alex.
2. Big boss.
3. Asus.
Exellent job sir,well done
Well done 👍🇬🇧
13:50 wondering why the microscope is zoomed in on the f9 key. 🤔
We went in for the kill and did a good job
Hey I'm rich with all that gold on the laptop 😆 I know for sure you can find the problem and fix it
from all the videos that I have been watching. And you still deserve five star for me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Big boss, boss of all bosses" :)). MasaAllah barekAllah
Nice knowledge sir
I use gold paste ob flashlight mods and its really good
questions please ! ...
- When you testing the voltage ... Where are you put the ground cable of the avo cable ?
Great video 👍🥰
