I rode the Metro to work that morning. In NW DC. I had gotten so sick of the gloating I vowed not to watch the results come in. I had noticed the USC/LA Times poll the week before so was hopeful. Everyone on the Metro was deathly quiet. I just assumed Hillary had won and they were all just going about their lives as normal. The book I was reading on the train had part of a US flag on the cover and I was getting the absolute hairy eyeball from one dude. Got to work. No drama. TV is on with sound. After a few minutes I realized and actually asked "Did he win?" The silence answered my question. A day of silence in DC. Precious. Then the anger began.
