    I finally got some time to take a look at what's possible with Shelly Pro 4PM and how I can use this to control my array of printers in my garage.

    I especially like its formfactor, as it fits directly into a standard fusepanel, at least the one's in Denmark.

    Hey @NotEnoughTECH, nice video. If you were renovating a home (Ireland) and wanted all sockets/switches power monitored and smart, would you recommend using a shelly 4pm or multiple individual relays? Thanks.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  Před rokem +1

      If I was in charge and walls were naked I would think about using as little devices as possible with multiple channels (Sonoff SPD? )
      In general I'd love to have power monitor on each socket without deploying 20 devices.

    • @Centretard
      @Centretard Před rokem

      @@notenoughtech Thanks, why would you go with as few devices as possible? Sonoff don't seem to be a reliable as shelly. Would you be able to say what products exactly would achieve what you suggested above? I don't find the shelly website particularly informative for people who want to kit out a whole house. Just put a couple here or there.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  Před rokem +1

      These are always connected devices. While a single device may not contribute as much to your usage bill deploy 20 and you will feel a difference in your yearly bill. Another thing is WiFi congestion. If you are able to hardwire it great... otherwise you have 20 devices already in your network.
      I mentioned SPD as an example of how I would approach this. It doesn't have to be that particular device really it's more of an idea how to reduce the hardware deployment.

    I love that the Pro 4PM has ethernet capabilities. It makes for a more reliable connection and less clutter on the WiFi. WiFi is very crowded in my area and it gets a lot of interference.

      Probably hassle free deployment plus you could still monitor and report back on power loss assuming your POE is on another mains

    I wonder if this relay system could be used with Tormach Pathpilot to control flood and mist coolant on/off. Pathpilot is a Linux based CNC control.

      As long as ratings fall within the Shelly's spec - I can't see why not? Webhooks probably could come handy

  • @brianm2152
    @brianm2152 Před rokem

    I'm new to this so this may be a dumb question. It looks to me like I can get remote on/off without even using the S1,S2,S3,S4 terminals since the relay does the switching and steals power from the L terminals. Is this correct? If so what is the purpose of the S terminals?

    • @JB-jx3qf
      @JB-jx3qf Před rokem

      Correct.
      The S connectors are for switches. If you also want to manually switch the channel(s)

    At the start of the video you say it’s 10amp each. You do say later it’s 16amps. It’s stated as 16amps per channel according to their website, this is what you would rate a 2.5mm radial circuit in the uk. I’m looking to locate this in a second sub panel supplied buy at 32 amp breaker (the unit says 40 amps max but I think 32 is plenty) then have each radial protected by a 16amp mcb.
    Love your channel, looking forward to the new Shelly reviews especially the temperature as the stuff I have at the moment is not very reliable.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  Před rokem

      Thank you - relays can handle 16A each - which is also possible if you use a single channel. To prevent overheating - you should not load this with more than 10A using multiple channels at once with 40A for all 4 channels.

    Hi there, I was wondering if the manual switches work regardless? For me, when I turn off the light / line using the Shelly app (the relay), I need to turn the manual switch on and off again for it to work. Have I was wondering if I am doing something wrong? Help.

      @@notenoughtech Thank you. I will have another go! Related question - I am rewiring the whole house. I was thinking of following a star pattern for the rewiring with each switch (a single pendant, group of pendants, or LEDs) coming from a Shelly relay. So the line becomes 'smart' so to speak. Does this make sense or overkill? Given Thread/Matter coming down the pipe soon.

  • @Mythix2

    The yneed to make one with more relais and without power metering or LCD, those features are way overkill just to switch some lights!

      Dimmers are hard, as they will depend on the bulb compatibility as well. By far the easiest way is to get a zigbee wall switch (battery powered) and zigbee bulb
