  • www.amazon.com... I've had a few new employees start with me recently and thought it would be an interesting topic for a video to show you how I train them.
    We have two different employees, one has some experience with lawn mowing, and the other has hardly any experience. I'll take you along as we visit several of our customer properties.
    You can also contact me through either of my websites at www.familylawnandlandscape.com or www.family-lawn-landscape.com. THANKS FOR WATCHING! www.amazon.com...

    Same here. Even though the employees I’ve hired actually have great experience but I still make sure they are well trained. I prefer helping out my employees with mowing my lawn and neighbors lawns.
    Gravely does make great riders and stand ons but I prefer either Scag or Dixie Chopper.
    Great job on training Mike there George. By the way since Mike hit the tree accidentally hope your mower is ok.

    @CaptianConstruction Před 7 lety

    Hey George, I just recently came across your channel, and after watching approx. 30 videos of yours, I really like what I'm hearing outta you. I notice you don't use the "commercial" grade Gravelys, but the lesser expensive "homeowner grade". Personally I feel that if a company wants $4000-$7000 for a mower it aught to be able to handle cutting for hours everyday, for years. The fact that they want to charge you the same as an inexpensive car for the "commercial grade" mowers($8000-$12000 and up!) makes me want to retch! And they want to give you a crap warranty on the cheaper models "because it's not commercial grade". But in your opinion, are the lesser expensive homeowner models worth the money and will they hold up just as well with proper maintenance? I guess the better question might be; are the more expensive commercial grade mowers worth the extra money??? Really value your advice and opinion, and keep up the great work!!! Jason(Alabama Lawn & Landscape)

    • @GPackard
      @GPackard  Před 7 lety

      hold the phone little buddy. The Graveleys are commercial mowers. not the home owner versions ! are bigger mowers are all between 10,000-15,000 . check your facts bro.

  • @CaptianConstruction
    @CaptianConstruction Před 7 lety

    Whoa, hold your horses George, wasn't trying to dog your mowers. Gravelys aren't real popular around my area so I figured it best to ask someone who actually owns one. I checked as many facts as I could on their website before I wrote you. I noticed great sounding salesmen language like, "commercial quality performance", which doesn't necessarily mean commercial grade. I guess my question should have been, what model Gravelys do you run, and do you feel their lesser expensive models($4000-$600 price range) are as well built, cut as well, and hold up as well as their more expensive models. As a general rule when I see a zero without a roll bar I tend to think of it as a "homeowner model". No offence meant my man just looking for your opinion. Thanks again for the great video content, Jason

    • @GPackard
      @GPackard  Před 7 lety

      we have been running Gravely commercial mowers for almost 17 years now i believe. I do like them very much. They are a little cheaper than some but more expensive than others. How many home owners buy a mower with a roll bar on them ? usually they buy a steering wheel type mower without a roll bar on them around here anyway's.

    • @morgansmith3650
      @morgansmith3650 Před 5 lety

      20 years experience here. Ill Answer. .. You only want to use mulching blades and mulch kit for mulching. Cutting grass you want high lift, big vortex, and mass air flow. I dont care how big the company is, or what you see. If you see mulch kits on mid summer, lawn care manager/foreman is not proper. Best cut is achieved with high lift and open cute. Massive suction. You want to force the blades of grass up for an even cut. Thats why its a big no-no to sharpen blades on the underside. Never! the exmark mowers we run have a blade tip speed of 20k rpm. and if you know about aero that will force the blade of grass down. No argument there. Facts

    Hey George,
    I noticed a lot of clumps in the grass your guys were mowing, are you using high lifts or gators on your mowers? What's your experience with the two blade types. I just transitioned to a zero turn from a push mower and I am debating replacing the high lifts on the ZTR with gators. What do you think?

    • @GPackard
      @GPackard  Před 7 lety +1

      STRAIGHT BLADES ON THIS VIDEO. don't like gators. love the high lift blades. i think gators seem heavier (thus wear more on your spindles as well as drag down motor more and eat more fuel. just me.

      the same way i bid them all, measure !

    • @morgansmith3650
      @morgansmith3650 Před 5 lety

      Some measure. I use my eye and customer status. Its all circumstantial. I have lawns that are half the size of some, and charge the same or more. Depends on the area, quality of turf, and getting as much as i can get. I have no set formula. Generally look at time spent and hourly rate. And drive time if that is a factor. I know you didnt ask me, but i gave my 2 cents. thats money that you cash in .. in the long run.
      2 men pull up to a lawn. I need $40-$45 an hour per man, plus drive time one way. Lawn takes 30 min= $45-60 per cut. Now if you pull up to a half million dollar home ..... $75-$100.. Now listen. You gotta be good. High quality, huge detail.
      Here it is... More money you get, better quality. I remember whn i started 20 years ago having to rush as fast as i can to make money. Lawn to lawn.. Because i was cheap. Now the mentality is get good money, so we can move at a comfortable pace to ensure max quality. I = 2 men in this racket. I swear to god.. i never lie
