He was forced to grow up very early on due to Asuma knowing and realizing his potential, he led his first mission very early on in naruto and struggled a lot there and a lot more when Asuma died aswell. He planned out his vengeance and then took on the role of teacher for Kushina etc, He grew up really fast compared to the rest considering his Sensei died early and the other hardship, Shikamaru is dope though!
If ramen isn't even tastier for Naruto, u know something was off.

I gotta say Tsunade's scene always breaks my heart. She lost Nawaki and Dan, Sarutobi, and was so upset about Orochimaru too. Losing Jiraya, the last one left must've been insanely difficult. I just look at her, alone, in the hallway and it makes me cry sm man.

Man, Devi's reaction makes it hit even harder, you can tell that her emotions are so pure.
The plotlines around Naruto and Sasuke are such a good juxtaposition. When they both lost someone they look up to, Naruto has Iruka to console him and Shikamaru to reignite his will to fight, whereas Sasuke has no one. This is a major factor that leads them to make different decisions when dealing with grief: Naruto chose to inherit the will of those who passed while Sasuke turned to hatred.

@@brunobucciarati4219 I guess you are the kind of guy who only cries for tragic and solely sad stuff. But you can also cry when something is beautiful or inspiring like what Shikamaru said to Naruto. Feelings and emotions can be much more complex than you think. I am not dissing you, I am just saying that everybody is different and will react differently than anybody else and that the range of human emotions are limitless.
I like the respect u guys give to these characters that taught so much to so many people, including me, especially as a child.

Damn, rewatching with you guys all of these episodes after so many years is reminding me why I loved this series so much as they were coming out in the manga and anime for the first time and how much important this series was for me growing up. So many years have passed since the last time that I watched these episodes where Naruto finds out about Jiraya's death that now that I am rewatching them, they made me cry so much as I didn't in years when watching Naruto (at some parts I was crying as much as Devi was, if not even more lol). I was also reminded how much of a cool and goat character Shikamaru is!!! If I was a woman, I would gladly marry him Lol. Shikamaru is definitely one of the coolest, greatest, most mature and well written characters out of all the Naruto series!!! He is probably in my top 5 favorite Naruto characters or something around there
P.S. Damn, during this Pain arc, the Naruto series was so well written!!!

For the record! Shikamaru is Naruto's best friend easily, Sasuke is more a brother. Shikamaru and Choji never judged naruto EVER even from childhood. and still chose to chill with him instead of listening to their parents.

Yup Naruto's bestfriend is Shikamaru. Sasuke and Naruto is all for the plot and anime, Sasuke and Naruto's relationship is nowhere close to bestfriend or Brothers. If we are talking about figures Jiraiya is his grandpa, Iruka is his dad, and Kakashi is his brother.
Choji, Naruto and Shikamaru are been buddies since when they were a kid, even in the OG Naruto they always call themselves/their group "Idiot Trio". Choji, Shikamaru and Ramen Guy accepted Naruto way before Iruka Sensei

Shikamaru being Naruto's best friend once again. Shikamaru was the first guy who was smart enough to analyze naruto's circumstances and become friends with him from day 1. He never treated him like a monster and now he stood by his side again with Jiraya's death as he did in the war where he lost his father. Shikamaru will always be my favourite character that comes through.

Iruka saved Naruto's mental health . In times when Naruto is at his worst Iruka was always there for him wow ... even in the movie Iruka bought Naruto a cake for a surprise birthday Iruka was the only one there .. its very sad ..

Back when those two episodes aired, one each week, those two weeks definitely were depressing.
I mean it wasn't on screen but they definitely did hear about the entire battle at least as much as that frog was there for, because they need every detail they can get on how to take this guy down so they are definitely going blow-by-blow how that fight went looking for weaknesses

The difference between Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto is mature enough to accept that there is no time to be feeling sorry for himself, there are people that depend on him that he can help. Sasuke, by Itachi's words is "naive, like a blank canvas waiting to be painted" and it is shown by the way he always throws a tantrum instead of becoming wiser than that.
