      yea...Same the costs are exorbitant, I will prioritize ECs and my research positions and will try to make the most out of what my school has to offer, I emailed my regional admission officer of Uchicago regarding this she said that they won't give any shit about APs if your school doesn't offer it But I don't think that it's really the truth If you come from relatively low performing demographic areas and academically restraining income background then Try to ace SAT only coz college will know that it was quite hard for you to do soo, At least that's what I'm doing, And also consider applying to EU, Best of luck, hope it helps

    I feel like realistically, despite the points made in the video, dropping the SAT Subject Tests has only created more barriers than removing them - at least for internationals. Overall, everyone would be forced to choose between taking or not taking the APs - which would further create more divide between students that can get adequate tutoring versus those who would have to study on their own for the most part. Also, for countries in the subcontinent (I myself am from Bangladesh), there are already national exams or other boards like IB or A-levels to worry about, and APs have just been added to the list for one to at least get an edge compared to US applicants. Funny thing is some colleges (e.g. Harvard) have phased out extra credit from APs anyways, so they are only useful as prerequisites for some courses at best.

  • @hirenjain

    this is so true.. international students applying to the USA are going to face even more difficulty now as students are going to be involved in more extra curricular activities than before to help distinguish themselves from the crowd and international students will also have to prepare for the AP exams on their own as unlike USA where students have AP classes in schools, School curriculums in India do not offer such services and teach their curriculum not the US

    Some HR departments reluctant to hire from Ivy’s… With the idea of helping HS students...should we be concerned about the new changes to the SAT/ACT? What has made colleges in recent years (BEFORE 2020) say that tests don't matter; meaning they're now optional!? Supposedly, some feel Finland to be the gold standard of educational systems. They have a Finnish matriculation exam at the end of High School. Their scores become the standard for which college they attend; the UK, and most countries in the world, have standardized tests-no “option out” with any of these countries. Why would HR departments do this?

      @@syedinayathterrorist1418 Speaking proper English is not some sort of virtue; _at the end of the day_ it's merely another language. Equating a lack of fluency in English to ignorance and ego comes across as very very blind when you're also (presumably) residing in a country where the majority of people don't know how to speak English but still know more languages than your average Englishman or American. Saying that if 'you don't know English, you're ignorant,' is just a very insensitive and arrogant statement to make.
      That aside, there ARE many Indians who do know how to speak "proper English" and Shaurya is one of them.
      So please, the next time you want to write some sweeping comment on youtube calling 1.3 billion people ignorant and egoistic, maybe rethink that.
      And you might also consider punctuation. Makes things easier to read. Especially on a comment insulting someone else's English skills.

    Hey Shaurya.. could you please tell me if it's of any use to take the Subject test that's accessible for Indian students in May of this year..as it's probably the last chance where I can give it..as APs are too expensive for me to afford...but is it worth it..will the subject Tests scores would count front now on in the universities..?? Please reply and help me out with this confusion...!!

  • @kabhikhushikabhigham8259

    But what if you didn't register for the APs this year? And I am I 11th grade, going into 12th, so this is the only year I could have given the APs. I decided to only give the SAT subject tests (in August) to save money. Now, there will be no subject tests and without them, nor will there be substance to my application. Can you please help with this, Shaurya?

    Sir ,I am now in 12th ,my boards are coming.I have average or more than average score in my 9th ,10th and 11th classes but I just want to know is ,If I score +90% in 12th then can I get into any elite Universities ever for my undergrad.??

    • @some.generic.username5254
      @some.generic.username5254 Před 3 lety

      If you are an Indian looking for abroad universities then let me clear it, they don't consider your boards marks. basically whatever elite college you are talking about, all those college give admission on basis of a single exam (single method for evaluation). For eg, for iit you need to have a good score in jee advanced. Boards marks aren't considered there. As far as I know boards marks doesn't lead you to any elite universities. There is always certain other exam for that.
