I am not a mechanic and I do things at home with tools that can be used but are not official. So please use info by own responsibility.
The mirror folding motor is not a spare part for Citroen C5. I bought a donor mirror for an appropriate price (20EUR +5EUR shipment) and just swap the motor. Took me 30 minutes with recording parts for the video :)
Steps need to be done:
1. rotate mirror up
2. use a wide tool (I used part of metal) and pull the mirror from the holder
3. unplug heater cable if heated mirrors installed
4. use some tool to release the upper back part
5. then release the inner back cover
6. and the front one
7. unplug the cable from the mirror tilting
8. unplug all the rest cables (depends on model)
9. use hand to rotate the whole mirror so you can access screws
10. remove the mirror
11. press spring and rotate (only goes one direction)
12. remove the black screw that holds the folding motor
13. use donor motor and go back on that list :)

For anyone with a Peugeot or a Citroën that broke his/her mirror and you think your problem might be similar but the "disassembling rotating motor part" isnt quite the same, as in there doesnt seem to be a way to pull the spring as shown in the video, try to look inside the upper part of the motor (usually circular) and look for some wedges. In some models like the Citroën C4 II (2011-2018), there are 3 wedges that you push inside the "hole" with a screwdriver or some other tool and the whole block comes out, you dont need to rotate anything. I had a similar problem with my motor, and I just discovered that by accident. If that information isnt enough, reply to this comment and I'll try to help you.
czcams.com/video/xFiOzaNiYhg/video.html I HAVE RENAULT DOESNT SEEM TO GET HOW TO DISASSEMBLE IT
Hey, there are a lot of "motors" out there when searching for C4 II mirror motor. Could you tell me which one is the right one?
Thank you. This was a huge help
Well one of the motors finally gave up, sooo the video will come in handy. Thank you, Mr. CZcams man :)
Glad you found it usefull :) You can't buy thatmotor as a spare. Look locally for some wrecked C5 to get it cheap..
@@slocitroman5075 Mmmm... There are bunch of them on aliexpress, the only question is... will it fit and work? Soon™ to find out. Local scrap yards will only sell fully assembled mirror... whit a door... and half the wrecked car... and something else probably. :D
@@Hk7762Tube for my 2013 C5 I could not found any neither on aliexpress nor ebay. I checked service manual and there is also no motor as a spare for me. I was really pissed off as it looks older models did have it but different designed. At the end I bought mirror for 20EUR +5EUR shipping and it worked for me :)
thank you
What tools are u using to unlock the spring motor?
😊
thank you sir, do you think this motor is the same on all the trim model? "comfort", "premium". i look in the junk yard
I think it is within similar production year. I bought it from exclusive model while mine is basic and it did fit with no problem.
greeting! I would like to ask for the part number of the left and right mirror translation engine. Thanks in advance!
Same motor for peugeot 508 ? Please tell me. I have the same problem and when i close car , left mirror is blocked on open and i dont hear any motor sount trying to close the mirror.
Don't know about 508 but could be similar. Check fuses and connectors first then open mirror and check with volt meter to see if power gets to the motor.
Can't get the mirror to come off the spring.
3:50 the circle of plastic near the grean and white wire; is that what i need to push down and turn? i've managed to get everything off but i can't see a way to separate the last bit. thanks!!
do you have solution now?
@@Andriy063 hi no. I elected to buy a spare wing mirror off of eBay and fitted it myself. Would be good to know for future reference though 😜
Hello my mirror fold only a bit or unfolds incorrectly, but I hear motor working and it does move kinda like this one from the beginning of the video, is it the motor or something wrong in the mirror?
Also after playing a bit with it it started to work correctly again then today it happened again and moving just a bit
@@wobblesization when motors starts to fail, current through it increase and limiter circuit cuts power off. So mirror stops where it is...
thank you bro great job :) i have question to you, i have c5 1.6 e-hdi 2011 and its start-stop(eco) system doesn't working. dou have any information about this failure? thank you so much again :)
Have never came across with start stop. I am not a mechanic only work on my own cars 😉. No errors reported by the system? I would start by connecting it to some diagnostic tool if you checked the regular things like fuses.. I had 1.6hdi c5... i would not use start-stop on it.. Turbo is positioned almost at the top of the engine and with every stop it will spin down without oil in the moment you turn off the engine..
BTW I forgot to mention that start-stop needs battery in be in really good condition. Also if you have AC on and it demands cooling it will prevent turning off the engine.. there are also other conditions that I think should be described in user manual...
@@slocitroman5075 i have new battery i think my problem is different. When i stop the traffic lights, eco system stops the engine but it doesn't start again. i don't use this system and i hate it but this car has this system and it has to work if it doesn't work well it's big problem when i want to sell this car :)
@@ramazansen5047 try to force it by turn on AC to some really low temp so it should start cooling and for that it must turn on the engine.
Hi sir can u help me i cant open the motor part u said press down a plastic spring locking part and rotate it where is this please
Spring is strong and it only turns one direction. I put the mirror on the ground with a spring part supported and then apply force by my weight while rotate the plastic. I still have spare mirror and can take a video tomorrow so you can see more clear
I have a Peugeot 5008 i think the same mirror i had tried with all force i cant
@@youtubesanspub994 it looks the same yes. Will make video and post it.
Please dont forget me and post the video i dont find any video in youtube explain how fix it thank you again im waiting in you can show me tommorow thank you
@@youtubesanspub994 there is no video as that is not officialy serviceable.
Is this for the 2014 Citroen C5X7 ??
2013 c5x7
Wait a minute. If the black screw is the problem, then why replace the motor?
what do you mean with that? Problem is motor itself. Sometimes it fails because of brushes sometimes because of PCB attached to it.
@@slocitroman5075 ...correction to my comment:
You mention in the video at 3:59 "remove blak screw....that's the reason for error..."
The way it is stated, I got the feeling that the black screw was the problem. So I was like..."why change the whole motor, if only the black screw is the problem?"
I didn't realise that when you mention "....that's the reason for error..." you were showing the faulty motor.
A slight misunderstanding dear frined. I do undertand now.
Thanks.
Bit late, and I hope you still on CZcams : my mirror is a bit squeaky when rotating, would taking apart and greasing it an option or a complete waste of time and effort?
I am still here 😎 jist not so often. Considering how mirror is assembled I think it could be good. Take dissasemble and grease also the low bearings.
@@slocitroman5075 tnx! Sadly, and what a timing, the left mirror stopped rotating since yesterday while we were driving home from holiday. So I need to dive in deeper anyway!
@@dietbos1524 it happens. Mine stopped at around 300.000km.. the left still no problem almost 50k later
Could you tell me where you bought the spare part, I can't find it even on Aliexpress
Bought it from a wracked car owner for 20EUR.. Only whole mirror is official spare part (and a 'glass' part itself).
@@slocitroman5075 Thanks for your answer, I will have to look for it in a junkyard. By the way, very good tutorial, congratulations
@@albertom2978 thanks. I am not a mechanic so I try to point out what I think is neccesery for us DIY guys 😁😁
Hello, very interesting your video. I have a somewhat similar problem with my 2015 citroen c5. After hanging a concrete pole upside down, the mirror returned to 180°. it is closed when the car is closed, but now, every time I open it, the mirror opens to 180° and I have to manually reset it to 90°. Can you tell me if it is a plastic bumper that is broken inside the mirror? I found this video in Turkish but I do not know if it is the same problem as me :

Thank you. good luck to you.

There are stopers so I guess one is broken. I can check later on a spare dossasembled mirror.
Sorry for late response. I checked but seems I throw spare away so I could not check.

What do you mean? English please.
@@slocitroman5075 I mean you can't take the motor apart from the mirror, how did you take it apart that it's all one block
@@motorizzato all parts can be separated. Even motor itself. Your mirror is different designed? Different construction?
@@slocitroman5075 it's like yours
