We are definitely gonna see a lot more of that Lie Nielsen rabbet block plane. We have some similar puzzles in Chinese woodworking world, called Luban lock.

Sorry to take the focus off the project, i just saw it standing on a piece of purple heart at the end and realized... any tips for keeping purple heart purple? Apart from "dont let it see daylight". 👍
That is about it. All wood turns brown with UV. You can coat it in a thick coat of uv protective epoxy. But over time that will turn yellow.
