- He may be technically a Kiwi, but actor Sam Neill has done some of his best work in Australia. Whether he’s acting, making wine or serenading us on his ukulele, Sam recognises he’s simply in the “cheering-up business”.

From his 1979 breakthrough in My Brilliant Career, Sam has been a beloved presence on our screens.
But Sam Neill has another brilliant career. For the last 30 years, he has been making wine in his beloved Central Otago in New Zealand’s South Island. What started as a delightful diversion gradually became an obsession.
Now in COVID-19 isolation, Sam has taken to social media to entertain and reassure people.

He's in his 70s ... looks better than many in their 50s!
He looks fabulous.
Dammit this man looks gooood😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He knows how to live a good, sane life.
Wine is the secret
@@wolfthequarrelsome504 Yes, wine, beautyful nature and a peacefull, grounded life 👍
Dr. Grant has not aged. He’s just gone grey. Bro, I wanna age like Mr. Neil.
You can. Eat your food like medicine and you won't have to eat medicine as food.
you can say he aged like fine wine?lol
Keep stress levels at an absolute minimum, eat well, sleep well, be active and productive and most importantly: Keep the little boy inside of you alive and don't become grumpy!
You'll age like a fine wine 🍷
How do you know you will make it 2 more years? You could be dead by then. If youre not already passed away from something.
Definitely hormone level matters he grew up on different food
Isn't he the most beautiful, down to earth man. Thank you Aust Story.
He was a pleasure to interview. Thanks for watching! - Aust Story
His Ulster accent in Peaky Blinders is immaculate. Now I know why
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful story about Sam Neill. I can not help but smile when I see him on screen.
that’s sweet. are you consistent with my projects?✨
@@OfficialSamNeillFanChatYes indeedy.
What an extremely likeable and totally natural human being
It's so heartening to see this wonderful man doing so well. Go Sam!
A marvellous actor and such a distinctive speaking voice . So natural. In his 70s , how well he looks ! He said he had no formal training though his acting mentor was the great James Mason whom he resembles both in looks and voice .
Very true!
I loved James Mason. 🎉 So glad to know that connection! ❤
Fantastic Watch! The World is a better place with people like Sam in it💗☺️
thanks.
are you a fan of my works ?
Can I just say that Sam Neil's alan grant character inspired me to be a paleontologist
What a gorgeous, gorgeous man - an Ulster man - born in Northern Ireland. He was mesmerising in Peaky Blinders
Yeah but wasn’t he raised in New Zealand?
@@clanmccroneartist6049 So what? It's common knowledge he's a Kiwi, but not many know he was born in Omagh.
@@Jenjenilou fair point
He reminds me of my Pop. Well spoken gentleman with a fun spark that would brighten a room. I miss him dearly.
If Neill had ever met him they would most defintley have become friends.
Man i love your voice
I have never seen a most down to earth actor. He's not one of those that live in a bubble and keep their distance from the rest of us mortals. He may have defects like the rest of us but he enjoy life and it's passionate about anything that he does, specially his wine
One of my favorite actors. Such a sincere calm presence. Wish him the best ! 🙏💕🌷
What a wonderful, blessed life this man has lived. I remember seeing him play a professor in Jurassic Park when I was a little kid. He's still healthy and living very well into his mid 70's. Im facing a serious health problem now, happened suddenly 1 month ago. Im in my late 30's. Dont know what it is. Dont know if I will live or die. I was a late bloomer in my life, but I know if I were healthy and got a second chance, I would live an interesting, productive life. I would have made a difference. I realize truly that no man can really know how much time he has left in the world.
I love Sam Neill. He seems like a nice human being. May he live long and be happy, I really mean this.
I've always loved him, he's a fantastic actor. But this hit me right in the feels! What an incredible human being! He's so darned cute you just want to hug and hug and hug him!❤
hi there.👋🏻
would you like to participate in the fan survey?
I smiled through every second of this film. I've Always enjoyed watching Sam in his many roles and now on social media too. He lifts your spirits and is simply just a bloody good bloke. Thanks for making this and airing it on CZcams for us all.
He is still so handsome
Always loved Sam's career but now I love him even more!! He looks amazing in his 70's, all that good Pinot!!
I was lucky enough to meet Sam and his daughter at a gig in Melbourne a few years back. He was patient and smiled through my embarrassing fanboy banter. Such a gentleman.
What!!!!!!! No way!!!!!!!!
I have limited internet every month but I am perfectly happy to use some of it up by watching this. Humble man, great actor. A pleasure to watch this.
This guy is lovely! So attractive and charming , but also very real!
Talented and still so incredibly handsome.. to be lucky to do great work as we get older-that IS a blessing
"As an actor, you're there to serve, you're there to serve the script, you're there to serve the director, you're there to serve the story."
I think a couple of Hollywood 'actors' need to take a lesson in that.
It was an absolute joy and privilege to watch this. Sam Neill seems a wonderful, warm, human being. Thank you for posting this documentary 👏☺
hello there, thanks for your comment.👋🏻

Oof I didn't even exsist in the time when Jurassic Park was being made

I could listen to this wonderful man talking for hours.
He has an instagram account. Lovely.
New Zealand best country on the planet. I don’t live there but wish I did. Family do though. What a lovely life he has had.
Sam Neill he is definitely my favorite actor! I realize that now...he is very down to earth as an individual first and foremost and as an artist he is brilliant in any performance...whether is Science fiction film or drama or horror....I wish him long and prosperous life and I wish that I could meet him as a person and not as an annoying "stalker" seeking some sort of relevance through selfies and autographs...
Sam is definitely the kinda future man I want & strive to be. What a Humble Man who loves his life.
My dear sweet late brother and I first saw Sam Neill in Reilly: Ace of Spies when it first aired. We were transfixed. Then, we watched him in The Final Conflict. We were in love with the guy... just an amazing actor with an unique face, that fierce, mischievous glint in his eyes, not to mention that arresting toothy smile. I remember watching A Passage to India and then following the winsome Judy Davis back to her early career gem -- My Brilliant Career... and whom do I find in there... Sam Neill! So now I say to younger people who know him as Dr. Grant -- I knew Sam Neill when! I hope he lives a long and happy life with his 8 (and counting) grandchildren... I wish him well.
Thank you, Sam Neill, for being a delightful human! I enjoyed this documentary very much.
makes me happy to hear that.
are you a fan?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Mr. Neill.. From one of your loyal fans.....
An amazing and wonderful story. I always enjoy your movies. Sam, you are alway so genuine and down to earth, not to mention very handsome too. Wishing you happiness and good health always. 😊
Sam Neil is one of my most admired actor. Loved him in Omen 3, Hunt for the Red October, Bicentennial Man. He is jus a versatile actor.
He looks great for his age. He looks like his dad. Loved the Piano film he eas great in that.
thanks
He is one of my favourite actors, and for some reason I always felt some kind of kinship with this man, I don’t know why, maybe the roles he played, I just felt his personality always shines through. After watching this wonderful little doc about him, I’m even feel this to be stronger. If I was to be an actor, I’d be probably Sam Neill.
yeah,i have same feelings with you!!But i am a Chinese ,he can not have kinship with me. hhhh
Sadness is watching my favourite hero getting old, when I was 9 years old I used to watch this over and over on Sundays with my 6 years old brother and my dad. Those memories (
Go Sam Neill, live your best life. 🌟🌀
"Thank you" hardly seems sufficient. What you give us is priceless, Sam. ^^ ❤
thanks
You are wonderful Sam! Thank you.
We love Sam Neil. He`s living my dream life. I hope I have the honor of working with him in one of my films one day.
He is such a humble and true gentleman.
Sams an absolute dream, just a decent down to earth guy !! Lordy Lordy he’s in his 70’s !!
Such a delightful human. Absolute treasure!
Man thanks for a beautiful & well made film about a lovely man. It made me feel like I have met him.
He is one of my favorite actors. I love him so.❤
I’ve always had a bit of a crush on Sam 😊
Sam Neil….rest up, you’ve well and truely delivered piece to us all. Aussie, kiwi or Irish you have added to us all.
I love that he chose to go home and live a life of the land, though I am also glad he is still acting and helping people through this time...
Adore Sam's unapologetic transparent authenticity. I wish more people where this way 👍
I think he just likes riding that little tractor more than anything else!
Lol
i will always be in love with sam neil ! what a wonderful person !
Some many great films... The Dish, The Last of the Wilderpeople, Dead Calm... he's a great actor and a fine man....
What an absolute delight. I found myself smiling a lot listening to him. Thank you for putting together a lovely video, it cheered me up!!!
I’m glad you loved it.
are you a fan of my projects?
Whenever I think of the great wizard Merlin I always picture Sam Neill😂 He was amazing in that miniseries.
A great actor - always a pleasure to watch on screen. And still so handsome and vital in his late middle age!
I started following Mr. Neil when he was doing Reilly: Ace Of Spies. I thought: "here is a man of quality and some substance". It has been very satisfying watching his work, and this presentation is a wonderful tribute to him.
All my favourites in one doco - Sam, Bryan "Ya can't see 'round corners" Brown & Barnsie. Wish you'd have included Jack Thompson. We're all in our 70's now - even me. Thanks fellas.
Found this gem today. Such a brilliant interview.
I'm a lowly 74 year old disabled Vietnam combat veteran who also never thought that I'd live this long, but by the grace of God,I live, and breathe, and move, and have my being.Though I was combat airborne infantry,I related to you most in "The Hunt For Red October;" the adrenalin and tension of impending doom and actual war.Anyway, sir,I thank you for your cinema efforts, and God bless!! I met two Kiwi's while on a seven day R&R in Tokyo,Japan.Their names were Paul O'connor and Eric Mark.Take care!
This was great . Sam is unique in a good way .Talented actor and a obviously caring , interesting person
thanks.✨
are you a fan of mine?
Just watched In the Mouth of Madness, he is an extremely underrated actor, he elevated that film to a whole nother level. I gotta watch Possession now.
I feel good for Sam. Sometimes actors aren’t always in the mood for filming a movie or TV Show. And when that happens, they need a break. Sam found his way to make his free time the best thing that suits him. Good on you Sam!!
This video made me smile..... and feel happy. Thank you. 😊
He's old enough to be my father. However, when I first saw him on screen years ago, I thought he was so handsome, masculine and intelligent and that one day I'd love to date someone like him. Have yet to come across anyone remotely like that.
What a charming, uplifting, generous soul.
I just love him. He makes me laugh and I consider him to be a kind friend in another universe.
Ι always liked him.. Now, more than ever. I adore his Merlin series..
I'm so pleased this documentary arrived on Utube. I've loved Sam Neil since watching the Sullivan's 1980's. Then Cain and Abel which I still love watching every now and again. Then there was The Piano, I've watched a few times. I didn't watch the dinosaur movies not my cuppa tea to be frightened for entertainment.
This is one of the best Australian Stories I've ever seen. I have loved Sam since his very first movie, Sleeping Dogs and have been thoroughly entertained by dozens of his movie and TV characters over 40 years, eeek! I ove all catching up with him on all his social media accounts, too. Hooray for Sam! 👍👍👍👏👏👏✌❤ 🇦🇺
Australian story about a kiwi. Hahaha ironic
The biggest box of talents. So massively underrated. Will always love him as Cardinal Wolsey.
Such a brilliant actor and person. Always a pleasure to watch, good or baddie!
As Reilly Ace of Spies he was the best ever way back in 1983.
I expected him to be the next "Bond" after watching him in "Reilly". He would have been wonderful.
Sam Neill gently holding a duck is the calm energy I didn't know I needed. Thank you.
What a great example of how to live your life and keep a positive attitude. Friends, Family, Peace, and doing something you love.
What a great story really enjoy this one. Always liked him but this just makes you like him more
hi there, you a fan of my work?✨
Its a previlege to see his personel life. Very kind and beutiful wonderful human being.
It’s heartwarming to have someone, or anyone, to smile even for a short time while we go through this nightmare (pandemic). Thank you!
smile all day , what are u afraid of ?
What a lovely man. I've enjoyed watching his film roles for many years now. This was a fantastic episode.
Love this guy...wonded where he went. ..he looks good.👍💖
Just recently found Sam on social media, I always admired his acting but now I also admire him as a genuinely lovely man too.
Might be an Aussie story, but he is 100% Kiwi(New Zealand). I have met him once in the bakery in Cromwell. He is a very nice man, very humble..
He is truly a beautiful, beautiful man ❤️
Just love you Sam. This story has made me smile. Thank you❤️💖
He is very handsome, when he said Iam in my 70s now, I stood up, He looks great., I've watch him in movies over the yrs, always thought he was American, and he is so calm, serene, in real life.💎❤
he was so great in peaky blinders. Favorite villain on the series
Merlin!! I LOVE THAT MOVIE!! Have always loved Sir Sam Neil!
The Omen. That's when I first watched him. Scary character.
Noel Tapsell surely jurassic park first no? :) but damien is one of the most iconic of his characters to me which is why I love watching the real version of him because it shows how good an actor he is
No The Omen was the first time I saw him on screen. But I didn't recognize him that he was in Sleeping Dogs. I just remembered him first time in The Omen 3
You are such a special person Sam. My kids & I have watched Hunt for the Wilderpeople approximately 8 times and I could happily watch it again. 👍
He was overlooked as having been a PERFECT James Bond as well as Brosnan
He did not want to be Bond. The tried him, but he didn't want it. He even denied them approval to use his screen test footage for the DVD special features of The Living Daylights, which they had to recall & replace. That's how much he did not want to be Bond.
Sam, Once upon a time, my family (husband and children) and I were to live across the road from you on Mountain View Rd, Daylesford. We we’re going to build our dream home, but it wasn’t meant to be...this is looking back 30 or so years ago...they were sad times for me.
And we didn’t get to meet you either unfortunately.
Central Otago, is just so magnificent and so I can understand completely why you feel so connected to the place.
Thank you for your wonderful work Sam ..ps, love your videos 😊xo
I must go immediately and look him up on social media, loved watching this documentary on him as I have always been a fan. Hi Sam!
Hes so lovely and sweet.❤❤❤❤❤😊
Love you're acting! Glad you're happy, Sam :-)
I WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT WATCHING THIS..AS I DIDN'T WANT TO DISCOVER SOMEONE,I DIDN'T LIKE. HE'S A VERY NICE MAN,WITH A GOOD MORAL COMPASS
His performances in the Tudors was absolutely amazing!
thank you for all the wonderful things you have done , much love to you God Bless
