- Learn how to paint a modern flower with a silver leaf textured background using a palette knife catalyst wedge. This tutorial is perfect for beginners as this is the first one I've ever done!
In this video I will show you how to paint a beautiful flower using a palette knife.
We'll start by sketching the flower and adding the silver leaf to the background and wait overnight for everything to dry. Then add texture and paint to the background using a cataylst wedge and once this dries I will add texture to the petals using a palette knife and paint the petals. After I've finished painting the petals, I will use Prizm Pour French Silk to add a glaze effect to bring out the richness of the flower colour adding depth and dimension
This tutorial is perfect for beginners who want to learn how to paint textures with a knife. If you're looking to improve your painting skills, then this is the tutorial for you!
So I invite you join me again while I continue to explore texture abstract art techniques to create mixed media style art.

My very plucked but undeniably robust lady beard is honored to be affiliated with this iris. 🤗
Thanks Julie, I was nervous painting this one, I wasn't sure if I got it right or not. I should have bought one first for inspiration, but all in all I pretty happy with it 😉
Manipulating the paste to outside edges of the iris is cool. Welcome to silver leaf.... with you there. I am all in to textured pieces. My jamb. This is a unique fun piece. A Antiqued Venetian Plaster look. Beautiful colours.
Thanks Andi, I'm trying to figure out how to make textured flower on different backgrounds to incorporate into my flower head pieces .... so we might hang here for a bit while I figure it all out.
@@TiffanyRemijn still incorporating some of your ideas using a combination of textures rather then just one. your wreath inspired me. the colours are awesome I just have to keep taking my time. Rome wasn't conquered in a day. Will be in NS and NB in October and maybe Huron in the summer. Miss my beloved CA. Regards and Thank you
Tiffany, this is so lovely. The details are amazing and I so appreciate how clear your instructions are in how you created this piece. Thank you also for showing the exact paints/products you used. Magnificent!
You are so welcome Kris! 💜
I have no words…… 😮🥰🥰🥰
I surprised myself too Saskia!
Wow Tiffany! You did an excellent job with that modeling paste and your colors were perfect for your iris. ❤
Thank you so much Paula! It was quite the undertaking but so worth it!
Beautifly done Tiffany, love all the depth you created💜🎨🖌️
Thanks so much Debbie, I wasn't sure about this one tbh but I loved it in the end regardless that it took a week 😳
Oh My!!😍Bearded Iris are on The Top of my favorite flower list & purple is the Top of the favorite Iris color list. The flower itself is Exquisite! I wish my first attempts at new things were this successful! The background is perfect for it. Your skill has blown me away yet again. Well done! 👏👏👏😍 I must say, I'm jealous of whoever gets this piece.
Thanks so much Julie, this one is actually going to my Mother-in Laws Birthday gift 🎁
Beautiful painting, thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for watching 😀
It’s beautiful!Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome!
Great work Tiffany! So many days 😮! The results are gorgeous 🙂
This one had so many layers that needed to dry plus I tend to only to be able to work an hour at a time on any piece I create. I find I need to step away and come back with a fresh prospective rather than force it. Glad you liked it! 💜
@@TiffanyRemijn You have to be patient! Your results show that it´s worth it. I´m certainly not a patient person🙃 I like to do everything in a row... That´s why I like acrylics, they are quick drying.
Stunning Tiffany 😍
Thanks Julie!
This is stunning and beautiful wow
Thank you so much Gerri!
Love this creation. I also love how you will give any technique a go. Well done. This is one hell of a creation 😍
Thanks! Lately I'm pretty much up for anything when it comes to making art, I bought some round cradle wood canvas .... I'm planning to play over the weekend. Let's see what happens 🤞
Wow Tiffany beautiful.
Thank you Carolyn! 😊💜
I adore this technique you've seem to have mastered. Inspiring us with your talent. LOVE LOVE LOVE.❤️ I am diving in. Gotta try it out
Have fun Laurie! I'm trying out a new technique now and it's taking a lot longer to figure out, but there is more content coming it also inspires you!
@Tiffany Remijn Looking forward to it. So excited to hitchhike with you on this incredible journey you are embarking on. Incredible, beautiful art

Omg, you are amazing! 🌺
Wow, thank you! 😍
What a great idea. I have used gold gesso (they also have silver) before but haven't tried this! I am impressed! Thank you, this is an idea to try that I would feel like to try
Gold Gesso? Really? I need to look into that .... thanks for the tip Pam
Freaking awesome Tiff ……..💕
Thanks Cathy! I can't believe how long this took 🤪
@@TiffanyRemijn well worth the time it took ..it’s just awesome ! 💕
Stunning, Tiffany. I so very much enjoy your art projects and delightful sense of humor. Do you sell your art?
Hi Judy, first thanks for the support! On the other, living here in the Netherlands and starting my art journey while living here, I don't know how to get connected to the art scene here (not to mention I started this during Covid so that didnt help either). Shipping my original art overseas is very expensive, so I'm currently having some pieces made into prints to see if that's possible. That's the goal for 2023! Let's see what happens. This piece I'm gifting to my mother in law for her birthday 💜
Bearded iris lol ❤
Curious as to why you bothered using gray on the flower for your first coat since it was all covered with the other colors anyway? I'm trying to replicate this but OMG working with the palette knife is not easy!
It's a personal thing. I find the biggest challenge is sometimes those first few strokes and in this case the gray is so neutral it got me over starting and then everything after comes easier.
Hello Tiffany.
Hi Andi!
Very nice as usual! Did enough of that Silverleaf show up to make a big difference?
I wanted it to be really subtle, I probably could have left a little more. However when the light hits it just right you can see it and draws you in for a closer look because it's unexpected. Does that make sense?
yes makes sense... I just couldn't see enough of it in the video to really tell. Thank you for responding
I always read and reply to comments. This one helped because I need to figure out my camera so it picks stuff up better 😉
