Why have I done this AGAIN? Building a plastic drawer setup in my DIY canopy fitout

- Today we're building a custom diy pantry in the canopy setup to make the most of the empty space between the fridge and the slide out kitchen. This is just going to be a temporary solution as there will be a better slide out pantry coming soon, but should get us by for the meantime!

Does the job, I don't have a lot of $$ so these cheaper designs are up my alley, thanks for sharing 👍🏿
Like the Bunnings ones with the big handle cutouts
That's one hell of a kitchen! Great job.
Temporary build
Over and beyond.
Lol
With alloy thing'esss to keep draw shut.
Curve all the corners, so you don't cut fingers in the cold
Bloody great job. Cobb
Cheers
nice job Daniel, You may end up keeping these as they look great and practical, cheers
They came out mint we met you at the 4wd camping show in perth we live in KNX now if ya got abit of spare time more then happy show ya around 🤙
Seriously mate don't talk yr work down, I think you are awesome at building stuff, take my hat of to mate, love watching yr vids 👍
Thanks mate!
Nice work. Looking forward to seeing how the set up works in the trip episode(s).
Nice cutting with the circular saw 👍👍👍
MDF and no dust extraction or face mask, good luck with that Russian Roulette ☠☠☠
Looks good Daniel, well done.
Well done mate, ur setup is really well thought out. Not for me, but I’m single, and not u!🤣. I really like ur slide out bench setup, and other than the 6mm MDF, (I understand that it’s temporary, and I’m not having a dig, I just hate mdf, as I always manage to get it wet somehow🤷🏿♂️),that’s a really neat and cheap pantry setup. You’ve come a long way! 🎉 PS Still figure u were a flight attendant in another life ! Cheers and well played! 👍🍻🎯🇦🇺
Thanks mate really appreciate that!
Exactly what I had planned to do with my kmart plastic drawers since investing in alu double drawer with slide out table. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Looks great. Serves a purpose until you can build a slide out pantry!
top stuff buddy, keep up the awesome work!
Nice job matey the draws are a great idea.
Good job Daniel. One up grade perhaps would be to use some 4mm Yellow Poly Cable Feeder from Bunnings as draw runners. The draws will slide a lot easier. I found drilling and countersinking holes for small screws the best attachment method.
Thanks mate, will look into those for future projects.
Looking good. 👍
I like that mate, im redoing my setup and was going to try the plastic tubs, just hadn't worked it out fully yet.
Hey Dan hope that cards exp. Builds coming along nicely
These are great ive been using these for a few years now. Save a ton of weight. Neat job as always Daniel! When are you doing the drawers for the other side? Keen to see what you come up with as the Kings ones i have weigh a ton and im keen to reduce weight in my canopy.
Thanks mate! The full drawer build will be coming very soon 😁
Looking great Daniel. You are pretty good on the tools as well mate. What did you do with the small roller door to stop it from opening if I may ask
Thanks Jack! The roller door is still just 'sitting' shut at the moment, I'm yet to add a latch but am thinking of just adding a simple metal piece to the base that the existing magnetic strip will connect to.
Nice one. 👍
Mate, as a chippy when you said 6mm MDF, I was like how the hell are you going to screw into the side of that, you seemed to do it I don't know how you did without splitting it, but good on you they turned out nice, I would have gone for 9mm min or 12mm to get decent screws in there, Also when you cut Aluminium on the drop saw, place an offcut of timber on top of the aluminium right up to the blade and clamp them both down, Aluminium has a tendency to catch on regular drop saw blades, when it does it will rip out of that hold down clamp and a fast moving bit of shrapnel will go wherever it want's, normally back at you so make sure to wear eye protection when cutting it.
The carpet and glue basically turned it into 12mm which would have helped him
Haha yeah I definitely agree, if I was to build it again (or if it was a more permanent solution) I'd us thicker wood and reinforce it with some brackets. Thanks for the tip with the drop saw too! 🙂
@@cheapneasy1981 might make it thicker but you can't screw into carpet 🤣🤣
Thanks for supporting your locals bunnings.
He loves Bunnings 🤣🤣😂😂
@-PORK-CHOP- who doesn't mate
Haha I think I'm single handedly keeping them in business 😂
Don't see the point in the pantry slide now this looks better in my opinion
Clean
Hey mate what glue do you use to glue down the carpet to the timber
Great vids fella, but thought i would point out that you never set your circular saw blade depth correctly. You only want 5mm max poking out the bottom of the stock you're sawing though. This makes for easier, smoother, cleaner cutting. 🤙
Thanks for the tip mate! The saw is pretty new to me so still learning how to use it properly so appreciate the advice. 🙂
@@explorebound No problem at all. Keep up the good work!
Noice
"Just a temporary solution".... Proceeds to vinyl wrap and carpet the pantry. Hahah
My idea of a temporary solution is to chuck everything in a crate and hope nothing's leaked when I get to camp.
Haha I couldn't help it, maybe because I was filming, or maybe because I knew these 'temporary' solutions have a way of hanging around for a while. 😂
I’m glad I’m not the only one to point this out to Daniel… 😂😂
Mate, these may turn out becoming a pretty permanent temporary solution, just saying.
Haha that's always the way with 'temporary' builds!
