Best campsite in Scotland for hiking in Cairngorms

- Braemar caravan park in the Invercauld estate, is within the Cairngorms national park, East highlands of Scotland and the perfect place to camp for 2 nights in our VW California T5 campervan. We hiked a local 4 mile route from the doorstep of the camp site among a scotts pine forest on the edge of the Balmoral estate, overlooking local mountains and glens.
This site is at the bottom of the Glenshee pass, where you can visit the ski centre or head the opposite way and head towards Balmoral and Loch Muick.
We visited the Farquharson's bar & kitchen for beer & food which is superb! Staff were amazing, food was really good and the atmosphere was perfect so add it to your list if you visit Braemar.
Van life is Scotland is so versatile, you have the option to wild camp or relax for a night or two at a campsite. In next weeks video we'll be camping off grid with no signal, no traffic and no people in sight!

We were in Braemar campsite last week 3rd April for a few nights, it’s our favourite site near our home in Aberdeenshire. Glad you liked it 👍

Ace mate, you’ve got to try out at some point the animal sanctuary outside York, dog friendly and bbq friendly and you camp right inside the animal compound. It’s EHU if needed but early booking required, stay away from school holidays as we found out and we will be going again out of school hols, it’s ace and very friendly atmosphere, the owners are the best I’ve ever come across and are so chilled, all camping fees go to the sanctuary 👍👍

Camp out, dog walk in the forest, great views, pub tea, a few pints and back to the van. What's not to love?! Jack looks like Raffy when he is hot on a trail. The issue we have is, he is a (BIG) terrier so he is always hot on a fecking trail. His nose is permanently stuck to the ground and he darts from one side to the next, blocking paths of people approaching, running in front of bikes, reversing into the road of on-coming cars, pulling your arm out of its socket!! I often think of changing his name to, 'you little shit.' Yes, a glass was raised in this house to Paul O'Grady. A fine fellow has left us. Enjoying the vlog series BTW. 👍

Jack’s sense of smell is off the chart BUT, his sight is even better!! He’ll fixate on a mosquito deep in the forest from a distance! We asked for a dog with character and we’ve certainly got that 🤦🏼♂️😍

The harness is made by Hurtta, classed as an adventure harness so it dries quickly and it’s robust.
The lead is called flexi giant and it’s 8m long, again it’s very robust 💪🏼

What size harness did you get?
Jack is at the lower limit of the 60-80cm harness so plenty of room to make it larger if we put it on over his rain coat 👍🏼
