Hi! We're Hannah and Chad! We met at college and got married in August of 2016. As poor newlyweds and recent college grads, we moved to New York City to begin our careers in finance. Only one year later, after accumulating over 2 million miles and points through "travel hacking", we booked round-the-world business class tickets to over 40 countries for free. We quit our jobs, sold everything we owned, and began this once-in-a-lifetime adventure on August 27, 2018.

The seats in second class are usually from airplanes that are no longer in service. Egyptians are the best recyclers in the world. They are being brought to countries all over the world to teach people how and what they can recycle.

Nice to see your Egypt videos. Booking online is actually possible for the sleeping train and all 1st and 2nd class trains. Except for the sleeper the booking window opens 2 weeks prior to departure. Probably there was an issue with your credit card.
Hmmm we were told it has to do with the IP address origination. The other visitors at the hotel we were staying at were having issues as well before they had arrived in Egypt, unfortunately. 🤷🏼♂️

I saw a few Egyptian TV programs speak about the country's digital transformation projects. Hopefully in the near future, tickets will be available online & on mobile apps.. But I think government workflows/processes are taking priority at this time.. Great videos, keep up the good work & stay safe :)
It will never happen in the near future, it will cost Egypt billion of dollars and many years of implementing, developing and training employees so I believe it will take a decade if we start today.
@@Egyptian-pharoah I'm optimistic, and an estimate of a decade (10 years -2030) to conclude the transformation sounds optimistic too. The change will be gradual, with more focus on infrastructure & what is in higher demand, inshallah.
How long do you think it will take us to be equal to the japanese, Chinese and euro star railways?! , I say never as you can Google it and see how much money they spent over their railway. It's not about being optimistic or not, it's an amount of money we don't have :(

@@Egyptian-pharoah We started speaking about digital transformation in enabling online ticketing. However, upgrading the existing railways is a different endeavor, with a different set of challenges. Still, it's not impossible. Prioritization in expenditure is vital, is transportation currently the top priority? Or is it education, healthcare, housing, ...?
I saw wonderful initiatives in modernizing communities in slums, with new apartment buildings & schools. Those definitely take priority :)

There is no smoking but Egyptians could care less. But in the metro, if you throw anything, you will get a ticket. Cameras and police everywhere.

Haha unfortunately, we're going to miss those places too this time around. We'll be back to Egypt though after this trip. It's definitely been one of our biggest pleasant surprises of the countries we've visited.
