- After our overnight train ride from Cairo to Aswan, we checked into our stunning Old Cataract Hote then hired a boat to take us down the Nile to explore a traditional Nubian Village with a local!

Aswan is known for its beautiful Nile Valley scenery, significant archaeological sites and its peaceful aura. Its weather is warm all year round, which makes it a perfect winter destination. The city provides splendid views and attractions to sail through the Nile with a felucca (Egyptian sailboat).

I first came there over 23 years ago. My friend Mostafa is from there and still lives there. I last visited 12 years ago. I will visit again next month.

The colours of the homes and buildings are so vibrant and beautiful. High Five is a Western, mainly American, custom, and completely alien to Nubian culture.

I went there and boy, did I get sick! I missed Abu the next day. It has a really pretty view. The poor small crocs that were caged up were interesting. The crocs only live in Nassar Lake now.

He said that the crocodiles are for good luck.. He didn't tell you that they are show off... They are hunting the crocodiles and mummificate them like that to show off their strength and power... Even the kids there (as you saw) they hunt dengarous things.. And even they keep crocodiles as a pet in their houses.
