Rakim played the drums on that track
I never knew that!!
Just found that out today
Classic! Complex production too, especially considering the equipment back then.
To me this is Rakim’s greatest work… the ability to kick that message and keep it rugged and raw and his flow over that tempo.. flawless
This was & probably still is the pinnacle of rap. Energy, rhymes & wisdom over dope beats.
“In a puddle of blood I lay, close to the edge. I guess I didn’t know the ledge”
Living through this era of hip hop is indescribable!!
These artists were living the soundtracks and making them also… Nowadays, the music is just a short fad and and production. Very few classics being made.
Rakim produced this track, and played live drums on it. Rakim actually produced most of their music himself.
Wow!
No he did not. SMH
@@desertdetroiter428 actually he did!
@@John__Dough correct rakim was responsible for this track.rakim mentioned it in his book and in certain interviews.he picked out the sample and did the beat and the lyrics.
@@desertdetroiter428 Rakim was Patrick Adams (the Engineer) co produced most of their early work.
Know The Ledge = "Knowledge"
Thrown off the roof like Bishop in Juice - Beanie Sigel
Precisely
Rakim Produced the track and Wrote the Lyrics.
Yup! Hip hop fact!
You gotta do "Let The Rhythm Hit'em", another classic!
Pure🔥
Some folks don't know there hip hop
Rakim made most of the beats , Eric b was just the dj . Read the credits on those albums
Been requesting this one for months
Definitely, that's one of their most underrated hits.
Young brother, Rakim is one of the GOAT MC’s!!!! I’m glad that at your age, you respect real hip hop!
He never uses foul language ... he's a master of his kraft a true hip hop legend top 5 Mc that ever touched that stainless steel
Rakim said this was his best tune. I'm rather partial to Don't Sweat the Technique too.
My fav for sure. That jazzy background and his delivery on this song is too notch.
Lyrics Of Fury is the best, IMHO....both the flow/bars, and especially (as a rock fan, myself) the beat/backtrack.
Know The Ledge.... The Knowledge. Knowledge is the accumulation of facts through observing, learning, and respecting.
This is why we call him the God MC.
Rakim actually produced 80 percent of all their beats on all of the Eric B and Rakim albums. That’s Rakim playing live drums on this track
Yes sir Jimmy the king 🤴 that you are, seriously please 🙏 continue to speak the absolute truth 👏..real talk
This is a classic 🔥🔥🔥🔥
No cap🧢❌🙅🏾♂️👍🏾🔥💯🙌🏾
Eric B didn't make this track, Rakim did the beat
His music is timeless
Rakim said he produced 85% of his beats. Folks always had it twisted. Rakim was Kanye before Kanye. Hence God Emcee.
That last verse was one of Rakim’s finest moments. Bringing all the way to a reality that sort of mentality where life reveals you are but a mere mortal who can get got too. Brilliant.
Eric B & Rakim - "My Melody"
Another joint off this soundtrack, Big Daddy Kane - "Nuff Respect Due"
EASILY one of my favorite 90's hip hop songs!!!!
I loved Rakim before this... but THIS is the man at the HEIGHT of his power as a lyricist, and MC, and a songwriter!!!!
First time I heard it, I was ABSOLUTELY blown away!!!
Before I start the vid, I'm gonna guess you will be too. 😎
My guy, you have to realize that Rakum still didn't curse on that joint. Dudes like Rakim, KRS, LL created works of art where the character they created is telling you their story...that's who you're listening to. Genius storytelling.
I remember around the time this came out,I saw an interview with George Clinton & they asked him a few questions about hip hop & 1 thing he said stuck with me 30some years later,he said “Thank god Eric B & Rakim don’t have a band, they’re so funky if they did we’d all be outta work”....I always liked that
"Know the ledge" he meant he didn't know the knowledge of the situations
Exactly Know the ledge "knowledge"
And no where to stop/know your limits
Facts
New Mumble MCs take a Lesson from a Legend.."Eric B - MC University"
this shit is 30 years ago and I still listen to it sometimes it's a timeless classic and so many of his other songs one of the best MC's 🔥
you should know that rakim played the drums for this whole beat, and his drum playing was sampled for the beat production.
Peace!... KNOW THE LEDGE....K N O W L E D G E!...know how far you can go before you get in trouble / danger!!!!!!!!
Yessssss! NYC in full. I can’t watch Juice and this ending song without crying my eyes out 😭😭😭
One of my all time favorite joints from the GOAT! He was so ahead of his time with the rhyme scheme, flow, cadence, metaphors and similes. He killed this joint.
Check out Casualties of War or Don’t Sweat The Technique. The flow, bars, content, everything is just on point and yeah, Eric B did his thing as usual.
My favourite hip hop song singed by my favourite hip hop MC
The greatest rapper of all time
Rakim is 100% in the top 5 EVER!! Dude changed the game!!!!💪🏾💯
Follow the Leader
Let the Rhythm Hit Em
My Melody
Rakim made 85% of the beeats
Nonsense.
Actually Rakim said that himself multiple times on a few interviews. Eric B did the scratches and helped executively produce. But doing the actual beat, Rakim himself has said he do most of them early beats
Frfr
Have I mentioned this is my fav rapper of all times?
You need to do Mahogany by Eric B and Rakim dope!!
Rakim made a lot of their beats himself . He produced a most of them. I saw some interviews with him saying that. He's also a musician.
What a classic track. Great film but an even better tune.
Nice reaction as always my G! Just a FYI Eric B didn’t do a lot of production in the group. For instance this was produced by Bomb Squad which is Public Enemy’s producers.
R
Rakim produce this song himself .
Eastcoast with the Triple Fats!! Rakim is GOAT.
Definitely my favorite joint by Rakim
The WORST thing about the Movie Juice, is the BEFORE Tupac played/starred in this movie, he was the SAME guy you seen in Digital Underground, but AFTER doing that movie & PLAYING that character, he NEVER let that go & THAT person/character is what/who MANY black kids have imitated over the years & CAUSED ALL of their deaths, INCLUDING Tupac himself.
It’s ALL/COMPLETELY true @@bl6369 If you was around during that time, it wouldn’t seem crazy to anybody, because they would have seen it when & while it was happening. Plus, Tupac didn’t start selling a LOT of records until AFTER he was killed/murdered.
So people act like Tupac was BIGGER than life & don’t get me wrong, he WAS big & popular, but he didn’t REALLY blow up until after he started getting arrested & after he was killed. Because when he got shot, people thought that was a HOAX & didn’t believe him. People (the MASSES) thought it was a publicity stunt, trying to create a HARDER image than that one he had with Digital Underground.
@kingAhmadtv, Rakim actually produced this track. He's on record saying this
I think He also wrote it after watching the movie in the limo on the way to record it.
I recently seen the video of Rakim talking about him making the beat to this song. It is at 37 min mark of this interview from Hot 97.
ambrosiaforheads.com/2019/10/rakim-mc-dj-producer-credits-video/
Eric B and Rakim "mahogany" and casualties of war
Rakim = G.O.A.T.
My favorite Rakim track is As The Rhyme Goes On. It didn't blow up as much as his other classics, but I believe it is his best work lyrically. This is the song Eminem pays homage to with his hit The Way I Am... Rakim has a bar that goes "I'm the R to A to K I am, if I wasn't then why would I say I am..." Eminem borrows this....
I agree
Since you mentioned Em and that song, that's the first I've heard someone rap to the baseline. 🎉😢
The Bomb squad produced this song. They are a production team that did a lot of work for Public Enemy
GOAT 🐐 MC!!! Eric B ✔️✔️✔️✌🏻
Have you heard Microphone Fiend??
Ra the real goat forreal
I bump this, Don't Sweat The Technique, and Microphone Fiend at least once a week.
1992 Hip Hop Classic The Legendary God M.C Rakim
I aint no joke so follow the leader and vote Eric B for president but make sure you know the ledge and don't sweat the technique have money and be paid in full
Hey my man.... Rakim produced that and played live drums on it!!!!!!!!!!!!....and I believed the Bomb Squad assisted or remixed it.
Fire sound track
4 years rakim didn't swear it was quite impressive
Just-Ice ........ Going Way Back
Ra’s best work pure greatness… He will always be #2 on my list behind Big those 2 will never be moved…
I listen to this track when I get homesick!
Check out his tiny desk concerts straight fire!
Wow!!!!! My dude!!!!!! U reacted to a bad mf!!!!!
Eric didn’t produce their music/beats. Ra did 90% of all their music. He showed mad love to Eric with giving him producer credits!!!! Ra produced juice after the producers of the movie brought him down to watch the movie before its release. He then went to the studio after watching and came up with the beat🎤 and then added the dope bars!!!! Keep them Rakim reactions going!!!! Ur the #1 reaction guy right now!!!!! Hit us with “Let the Rhythm Hit em🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤”
YES.
You got the juice now man.....
My number 1 M.C. Strong Island represent
React to Rakim's "Holy Are You."
Or, if you want a rare joint, try "After You Die", leaked from an unreleased and mutually abandoned project with Dr Dre.
some post-80s Rakim; The 18th Letter, and When I Be On The Mic
Various people produced the tracks. Rakim did ALL the beats and rhymes. Eric B was just a friend and business partner.
This was one of the first cd’s I got back when they had clubs where you got 8 for a penny and they tried to not let you cancel. They couldn’t really do collections on a 6th grader though
Check out "I ain't no joke"..
Eric B for President & Checkout My Melody both classics
The whole juice soundtrack was sick
"I got the kings from Queens! I got the crew from Brooklyn! There's money in Manhattan that's never been token. Go uptown to the Bronx to boogie down. Grow strong on the Island recoup and lay around."
He said tear shit up on my melody the original thats the first time i heard rakim cuss
Eric b and rakim is one of the best.2nd best after nas the g.o.a.t 👑2.word up son
I am deeply impressed by the use of "real" instruments.
If you want another Rakim joint react to When I be on the mic
Like Rakim said, he aint no joke
Rakim produced this track
Check out "Don't Sweat The Technique"
🐐🐐🐐
Sticking with Juice Soundtrack, check out Nuff Respect by Big Daddy Kane
And Naughty by Nature Uptown Anthem
Thats Ra on the Drums Too !
Well done , give Casualties of War a listen , somewhat prophetic considering it came out 92-93 ish .
Where ever im at, i get the welcome mat
My opinion top 50 best hip hop track ever, maybe top 25.
Rakim was a DJ too
You got to do "Guess Who's Back", raw one!
You gotta do Don't Sweat The Technique by Eric B. & Rakim.
Rakim did the production, Eric b just scratched on it! Rakim made most of the Eric b and rakim Era beats!
🔥 vid bro, you should check out, Don't Sweat the Technique - Eric B and rakim
That’s my favorite one of theirs
G O A T
He wasn't cursing. He was saying "knocking n as off" and being a death reference it got edited

Rakim made that beat for the song juice
I have to request some Public Enemy. It would be a shame not to reminisce Public Enemy one of the best rap groups
