    Thirty years ago I read a beautiful story about a young man in India that played Megh Mallar with his flute. He played it with such passion & perfection, during a full moon night that a Goddesses appeared before him & grant him a wish. Later he sacrificed himself to become stone to save the Goddess from a Black Magician. Since that story, I've been searching for someone would play this Raga on a flute. This is the first time in 30 years I've heard such great work. Thank you for sharing

    I always return to this piece, since i found it. It's very strong and charismatic playing. I listen to others, in fact all bansuri players, which i can find, but nobody gets close to THIS. Milind, you must be called ustad.

    @clouddancer6 Your post is nothing short of a miracle! I read that story by Bibhooti Bhooshan Bandyopadhyay translated into my mother tongue Malayalam in 1961, and was spellbound. Later in 68, I heard a bit of Ramdasi Malhar played by Pt. Hari-ji in a Meera Bhajan by Lata-ji. I was deeper into the spell! I yearned to learn the Bansuri and found a Swedish teacher in 1990 in the US and ever since I have been traveling deeper into the Bansuri mystery. Milind-ji is Krshna himself like Hariji!

    I don't know what to say after listening to something as divine as this. The first time I heard megh raag was on a song by K.J Yesudas. Since then, i loved megh raag particularly, I don't know why but megh raag has appealed to my mood and mind the most. I wanted to listen to it being played on the flute. I had heard the music from a flute is always sweet and melodious but that is wrong. The rich, dark, deep notes here in this megh raag video proves that flute can be used in such spellbounding ways too. It was almost seductive, just like a rainy night. Thanks Milind Sheroy-ji. Listening to raag music has always been a therapy, a spa for the mind.

    I finally found an English version of the Meghmallar story by Bibhooti Bhooshan Bannerjee in a British collection called Green and Gold and now, in April 2012, after nearly 50 years of first encountering that transforming story, I can share it with those who only know English.

    Finally, I think I am soon going to solve my mystery. I am going to look at an anthology called Green and Gold published in Britain in 1958, which is supposed to contain this story that you are talking about -- the one which nearly transformed my life entitled: Meghmallar. I have ordered the book through Interlibrary Loan although it is available on Amazon, but I am not sure if the story is indeed in it. I will write again if I finally succeed!! Namaste!!

    Greetings Sir. I've been listening to Indian Classical music a lot coz it helps one to reach the center of its being. I've been playing songs and tunes on Flute on my own from months. But now I want to learn Indian classical music on Flute from you Sir in proper guru-shishya tradition. Is that possible Sir? (I'm 21 years old)

      @milindbansuri  Před 8 lety +1

      +hydroneil this is on E flute so try to play on E bass but please dont try to play along just pick a small piece and try on a slower tempo then increase the pace gradually,although copying is not advisable
