      I've been using a relatively cheap Dunlop Spin 300 bat and I've been putting some spin of the ball with much effort. What can I expect a Butterfly bat to play like? (Big improvement? It takes skill?)

    I'll try and explain the Ovtcharov serve. He used to keep his head low to the table as a child when preparing to serve. As he grew taller he continued to keep his head low, which meant that he has had to squat lower and lower as his height increased. This is the explanation from the man himself.

    I watched each of these serve video more than 5 times and find it helps me score more during after work games. Also thank you for decoding Ma Long. I’m actually surprised that Ma Long doesn’t use Reverse pendulum serve like Zhang Jike, maybe it’s because Zhang Jike serve is just obvious enough so it’s the same as a backhand serve. Also there’s a more advance trick to combine a normal pendulum serve with a hook, which used largely by Jun Mizutani.

    • @canicetang8837
      @canicetang8837 Před 6 lety +1

      It really depends on the server. If you have a pretty strong upper body and can do a strong standard reverse serve if Ortcharov by rotating his body like a reverse discus throw, then that alone might be enough. However, if you prefer to be more upright and don't need the exaggerated motion as much. Then you will definitely need to compensate the momentum by the whipping motion of your wrist and forearm to give you exactly the same motion.
      As a server, you can use the same serve with variety of motion, direction, speed and spins to your advantage. The possibilities can be endless.

    Thank you - I really learned a lot from your tutorials. They are very useful tips. I'm a smasher, just curios whether one can smash an under-spin return ball that is relatively high (upper arm to shoulder height). I hit several of them and they went into the net. The experienced players said my timing of hitting the ball was wrong - what is the right timing?

    • @tomorrowtabletennisnon-pro1001
      @tomorrowtabletennisnon-pro1001  Před 6 lety

      YES you can hit it hard so the spin would have very little influence. It's best to hit at its peak or just a bit before it.

  • @henriki8015
    @henriki8015 Před 5 lety

    Hey. Would you recommend to put three fingers on the handle when serving backspin or the pendulum serve? I noticed lately that I get more spin if some fingers on the handle (as you mentioned for power), then they act as a lever and give me better and more stable acceleration of the bat.

    Ovtcharov and low head. I thought it was evident for YOU. First, once one acquires a SUCCESSFUL habit in a stressful situation, then PSYCHOLOGICALLY (we are animals after all) one is "condemned" to execute some silly/ridiculous things, even if one understands the its usefulness. For example, I find ridiculous coming to the net to polish the table with one's hand before servicing. Secondly, his and similar tricks (for example throwing a ball very high for service) distracts / irritates a bit your opponents which is quite useful. Thanks for your video!
